Rezaq Karr

Character Information:
Name: Rezaq Karr
Faction: N/A
Rank: N/A
Species: Shistavanen
Age: Adult. Exact age is difficult to tell, given the uncommon nature of his species and the fact that he's furry.
Gender: Male
Height: Around six foot, give or take a few inches.
Weight: Wiry and lean, rather than hulking, though the thick fur hides that to an extent.
Eyes: A glowing green touched by just a hint of blue.
Hair: Grizzled, with strands of black, a multitude of browns and dark grays mixed together, though overall he looks brown. Its the kind of hair/fur that would let him blend in with trees and the detritus of a forest floor.
Skin: What little can be seen of it looks dark brown or perhaps black. He's furry though, so its a moot point unless someone intends to try and shave him.
Force Sensitivity: Unknown. Perhaps its the Force that aids him in some subconscious way, or perhaps he's extremely lucky. He seems to have a talent or knack for tracking down lost ruins, old bases, forgotten temples, underground bunkers, ancient battlefields, former military installations from wars long past, and any other curious reliqs of ages long ago, and also, somehow avoiding a lot of potential traps or pitfalls.
Strengths:
Two Legs Good, Four Legs Better: Shistavanen are capable of moving about--running, climbing, jumping--on either two legs as a biped, or on all fours like an animal. Each form of locomotion has its own benefits and drawbacks.
What's That Smell? A Shistavanen has an exceptionally good nose, which can be both a benefit and a curse. Yes, they can track someone for miles or tell who was in this room how long ago, but lets just say they probably wont want to get chummy with any Lasat without nose plugs.
Lights? We Don't Need No Stinkin' Lights! Shistavanen have exceptional night vision, able to see in near total darkness. Of course, this makes them a bit sensitive to bright or harsh lighting, but nobody's perfect.
It Belongs In A Museum! When Rezaq sets out to look for something, he's good at finding it. Especially if that something is some kind of lost knowledge or buried ruin. His ship is full of all kinds of finds, many of which probably do belong in a museum somewhere. He'll get around to taking them there...eventually. Maybe. Oh look! An ancient temple full of old records!
Self Taught Scholar: Given that his fascination is on the lost history of the wider galaxy, and his people are isolationists, he's learned a lot of things on his own, or by trading finds with professionals in return for their knowledge on a particular subject. His credentials from his homeworld are probably less valuable than toilet paper in the greater galaxy.
Disarm? Dis Arm Comes With All the Features! At some point in his past, his left arm was lost somewhere above the elbow and has been replaced with a cybernetic one. It has some benefits, such as being stronger in many ways, but also has a few hidden tricks that can be useful in a pinch.
Weaknesses:
You're Not From Around Here: Given his species' pretty consistent isolation for millennia, Rezaq's understanding and knowledge of non-Shistavanen cultures and the greater galactic culture at large is...hit and miss. If its something that he learned about in his historical studies and ventures, he's good, as is something that has been explained or directly experienced by him, but otherwise, he sort of muddles his way through a lot of situations and hopes he doesn't inadvertantly offend someone.
Obligate Carnivore: Shistavanen eat meat. The fresher, the better. While they can stomach some fruits or vegetables, a lot of it is either empty calories at best, or actively has a negative effect on their digestive tract. This means spending more credits on food than someone who can eat bread and other fillers, or whatever it is they put in ration bars.
Sticking Out Like A Sore Thumb: The downside to being one of those uncommon species is that its hard to hide. Someone asks about "have you seen the fuzzy dog-man?" and its going to be fingers pointed, not a confused "which one?" This makes it much harder to go unnoticed or incognito, or to get away with anything too shady. And heaven help poor Rezaq if he makes any enemies.
Can You Repeat That? Maybe In Basic This Time? Between Basic being his second or third language, and the fact that he's a bit of a nerd and an academic as much as he is a tomb robber, Rezaq can sometimes use awkward vocabulary--he's very guilty of the "using a big or awkward word" instead of a smaller more common one that will work much better, or going off on a ramble about stuff no one can really understand, and occassionally, he can get stumped by how to communicate something, and may switch languages several times in a single sentence or paragraph to try and get his point across.
Disarm? Dis Arm Comes With All the Features! At some point in his past, his left arm was lost somewhere above the elbow and has been replaced with a cybernetic one. This arm is, unfortunately, obvious as a metal limb, and prone to all the flaws any mechanical limb would have, such as EMPs, electrical damage, malfunction, etc.
Appearance:
Standing close to two meters in height, Rezaq is a striking figure of wiry muscles, fur in various shades of brown that ranges from dark chocolate to a shade of warm brown common in leather for boots and the cheap dye for mass produced cloaks found everywhere. Furry ears atop his head are in constant motion, and glowing eyes set below craggy brow ridges take in the sights with keen intellect and a fascinated interest. The black nose twitches at the odors around, the short muzzle wrinkling periodically to reveal a predator's fangs. He wears durable but well worn leather pants riddled with pockets, many of which are often bulging with everything from tools to trinkets to odd finds to the honest to goodness actual paper text--talk about dead formats!--and a long dark leather coat that its hard to tell if its for fashion, the innumerable pockets on the inside and outside of it, or for some form of protection from the elements....or even some combination of all three. The shirt beneath it is usually some muted, darker shade of blue, green, rust, or cream, nothing fancy and often the cheap, mass produced shirts popular with everyone from barmen to smugglers to pilots. Some days he can be seen with a heavy pack on his back, the kind that can easily store plenty of goods.
His limbs all end in sharp claws, even his left arm, which is a cybernetic replacement. Why he has it is unknown. Perhaps an accident, perhaps a birth defect, any number of things could have caused it. The replacement limb is obviously metal--no attempt at faux fur or synthskin to cover the smooth metal and joints, though its a decent quality. It seems to have several small compartments in its surface, possibly for storage or to hide other abilities that the arm possesses.
Biography:
Born on one of the handful of colony worlds possessed by his people, Rezaq had the misfortune of actually being interested in the foreign, alien traders and strangers who frequented the spaceport not too far from his family home. He would trade time, work, and credits just to hear stories about the larger galaxy, and scoured any resources he could find in his own people's archives on the universe beyond their few systems and the worlds they inhabited. Sadly, the Shistavanen are reclusive, isolationist, and fairly xenophobic, shunning the bulk of outside contact beyond necessary trade ina policy that has actually worked fairly well for them for thousands of years, as it has meant they have not suffered the way many cultures have from repeated wars and genocide. It has left their own culture and history fairly intact comparatively, but it also meant that very little was kept on the outside galaxy beyond broad strokes and notations that one scholar or another found interesting. He did learn a great deal about his own people's history, in the end, as well as the techniques used by their own historians, explorers, and archaeologists in reading ruins and preserving finds, but it was not enough to sate his desire to know about the universe beyond and the beings who lived there.
To satisfy his thirst for knowledge, he learned the various languages used by the traders, worked, saved, and eventually managed to acquire his own small ship. Nothing fancy, but an old small ship serviceable for hauling a dozen or so cargo containers and housing a max crew of two. He used it to get to the galaxy beyond, and travel to different libraries, universities, and places of knowledge and history, doing menial jobs to pay his bills, living on his ship, and learning everything he could about whatever galactic history and legends he could gain access to...
That lasted for most of a decade, before he started trying to find some of the places he'd read or heard about...and he found his passion in not just reading about the past, but delving into it, looking for the lost, trying to fill in the holes he saw in the accounts, the pieces that had been edited differently depending on whose library you read, or what the date was. More than that, its something he's turned out to be good at, locating forgotten places of galactic history and ferreting out their secrets, recovering lost treasures. Some he keeps for himself, some he finds on a commission basis, returning them to the people they belong to...some he seems to determine are important enough to donate or sell to museums and archives. What his personal metric is is unknown, but he doesnt seem to be too huge of a fan of private collectors.
These days, he has managed to upgrade his ship to a larger one--though not much larger--with more reliable parts and better defenses. And of course more storage space for whatever he finds.
Equipment:
Beyond a standard blaster, he has a number of tools and trinkets useful for his pursuits. Among the list are:
Ship:
A light freighter of a fairly common make, likely one of the successors to the old YT-Series or something similar. The kind of ship that is super common, can be bought for fairly cheap, is easily repairable, upgradable, and otherwise easy to maintain for someone on a budget because the scrapyards are full of thousands of them. There's nothing particularly special about it, and its own history is probably colorful prior to being in his hands. At least, that's his suspicion based on the number of hidden compartments that seemed to have been added at different times by different owners. Its the kind of ship most would never look at twice. He has somewhat jokingly named it Fortune's Favor.

Equipment:
Beyond a standard blaster, he has a number of tools and trinkets useful for his pursuits. Among the list are:
- a full set of lockpicking tools, both manual and higher tech
- a Shistavanen made survival knife
- a small handheld computer, which he can often be found using for reading.
- a variety of little baubles from his various expeditions
- a small camera for photographing things like murals and frescos, carvings and unknown languages
- a small audio recorder
- sterile gloves--because touching antiquities with one's bare hands is a huge no-no.
- a rather crusty and opinionated astromech that lives on his ship that he dug out of some old ruin. Mostly the droid stays on the ship unless it accompanies Rezaq for a specific reason, usually into old ruins because it can access any still functioning systems easier than the wolfman can. Goes by the designation B0-1D (Rezaq just calls him Bold), and expects a share of the goodies when talking money or treasure.
