Rhak'ashahr Suvuun
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
Born to a creche in a forgotten Yuuzhan colony on the edges of the Outer Rim, Rhak'ashahr trained alongside a dozen others to defend himself, his elders, his sister and brothers from a Galaxy who reviled them.
This life, while not ideal, was his and he fought long and hard to keep them safe and free.
But the pirate bands of Wild Space are cruel and savage.
And a small colony of Yuuzhan Vong - rare, strong and easily missed - were easy pickings.
Rhak was enslaved along with nearly half his brothers and sisters, but soon sold away from them and lived as a gladiator in a Hutt's pleasure palace for eighteen years.
During this time, he swallowed his anger, his hatred, and slaughtered those who stood against him for the cheers and scraps of food thrown to him by the Hutt.
As the years whiled away, the Hutt grew complacent and after a great massacre of six of the Hutt's rival gang leaders and traitorous lieutenants, he invited Rhak to his chambers to punish a slave girl.
The slave was a Yuuzhan Vong like him, but lacked the scarring and tattoos of his clan, seeming to belong to no clan at all.
And to Rhak, she was beautiful.
Ordered by the drunk Hutt to flay her alive for disrespecting him, Rhak was given a laser whip, which he then used to eviscerate the Hutt's attendants, bodyguards and finally used his bare hands to dig the Hutt's fatty heart from his chest.
Knowing that they only had moments before they were found and killed, Rhak and Shelara escaped the palace and tried to steal a freighter with some other prisoners from the palace.
However, while trying to pilot the ship away, Rhak was knocked out of the open hatch by a laser cannon blast, losing consciousness when he hit the ground.
Though saved and nursed back to health by common folk, he knew his staying would endanger them and fled the city only a day later. He wondered this unknown world for weeks, hitching rides to cities, passing himself off as a beggar and even turning to mugging or thievery to sustain himself, Rhak eventually found himself starving, dishonored and bleeding in a clogged city gutter.
It was here he believed he would die.
As his eyes closed for one last time, the last of the deathstick's hallucinogen wearing off, he thought he saw Shelara and another figure reaching for him.
When he awoke, he was strapped to a med-bay table, Shelara by his side, cooing an old Yun-Shuno hymn under her breath as she dabbed bacta and stinking salve into his wounds.
Behind her, in the doorway, was Khet Kursyr.
Rhak'ashahr learned of what had happened as the young Force-witch used his healing powers to drive the deathstick poison from his veins. Shelara and the others had managed to make it to hyperspace, but she had felt a bond with him and refused to leave him behind. She had found someone willing to listen, let alone help a Yuuzhan Vong. She had even offered Khet payment, but when he had heard her story, he had charted a course for Hutt Space immediately.
Rhak could not believe the fortune his Gods had sent to him. Not wanting to spit in the face of his deliverance, Rhaka swore a blood-bound oath to Khet, granting him clanship as well as Rhak's personal protection until the end of his bloodline's days.
Khet helped Rhaka and Shelara find other Yuuzhan Vong, many of Rhaka's original clan, enslaved in spice mines. Together they found a colony on Weik, Khet's homeworld, and grew strong there.
It wasn't long before Rhaka and Shelara had mated and swore themselves to each other. Their daughter, Ahret'shae, was born soon after.
Noticing her head tendrils and her strange silver eyes, Khet consulted his mother before revealing to Rhaka that his daughter was not only present within the Force, but likely Force sensitive.
Knowing the dangers the Galaxy posed to such a creature, Rhaka took a personal interest in Khet's mission to hunt pirates, Sith artifacts and those who would set designs on his little Bloodflower.
Together, Rhaka and Khet have hunted down slavers, pirates, smugglers of Sith artifacts, each mission bringing him closer to ridding the Galaxy of those who would hurt his daughter.
While he has not seen her personally in more than two years, they speak often via holonet, one of the few pieces of technology Rhaka understands perfectly and has made every effort to do so.
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
- Intent: To create and detail an ally and friend for Khet Kursyr
- Role: Friend and blood-sworn to protect Khet Kursyr. A direct and powerful warrior, he is Chewbacca to Khet's Han.
- Links: None at this time
- Age: 54
- Force Sensitivity: Force Dead
- Species: Yuuzhan Vong, https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Yuuzhan_Vong
- Appearance: Approximately two meters tall and 137 kilograms, athletic and muscular. 'Rhaka' has the tattoos and ritualistic scarification common of Yuuzhan Vong. His most notable modification is the split lower jaw that he can move independently. This is wholly cosmetic, though it does allow him to ingest more food per mouthful.
He commonly wears natural-types of clothes, favoring the homespun and native leathers of his home colony. He avoids artificial or synthetic material, and still sports several pieces of ancient, now dead, vonduun crab armor.
- Name: Rhak'ashahr Suvuun, Master Warrior of the Suvuun Colony, Bloodbound of Khet
Also known as Rhak, Rhaka and Shahr. 'Master' to his cabal of warriors, 'Rhashi' to his mate and daughter. - Loyalties: He has sworn a Blood oath to Khet Kursyr as means of repaying the young Pureblood for saving his honor and his life. He will kill and die for Khet - regardless as to how the young man feels about that.
He also has a family and colony that he would - and has - killed to protect. His mate and their daughter are particularly important to him, though his daughter's potential Force Sensitivity concerns him. - Wealth: He lives a humble life, mostly saving what he can and transferring it to his home colony. Rhaka earns what amounts to a common dock-worker would. He lives on less and what Khet forces on him.
- Notable Possessions:
- Amphistaff 'Bloodflower.' Named for his daughter, the amphistaff has a unique black and red mottled crystalline skin.
- Dead Vonduun Crab armor. Only the left arm and chest remain is usable condition. Once an iridescent purple, wear and battle have scarred it to a more plain blue-black. Though no longer alive, the armor still provides some protection from lightsabers and blasters.
- Bowcaster 'Starcaster'. Having taken an interest in Wookies and their symbiotic relations with their homeworld, Rhaka designed and built his own version of a bowcaster. Ultimately the same as any other, it was grown and shaped by his mate, and sheaths iron-laced 'teeth,' instead of quarrels, in organic plasma. It is named for his mate. While mass produced bowcasters and some custom made ones sport auto-cocking, Starcaster does not and only very strong beings can fire it and load it without losing an arm.
- Copper Wrapped, Kyber Crystal Pendent. A gift from his daughter, Ahret'shae, the crystal gives off a slight Force presence. Not enough to trick anyone, and it is neutral in the Force, but does allow someone - like Khet - to find and track him, thanks to its unique presence. It is wrapped with several colors of wire, designed to look like a wroshyr tree.
- A very unique tongue implant that exudes a sticky, poisonous saliva. It can stretch up to half a meter, making it a short range, surprise weapon. Though the venom can be lethal, it is slow and must be absorbed through the skin, open wound, mouth or eyes. While slightly corrosive, it is the viscosity that give Rhaka the edge, as it is nearly impossible to remove without some kind of solvent. As such, he uses it to blind opponents rather than poison them. - Skills: As a trained warrior of the Yuuzhan Vong, Rhaka is a master at martial combat. He is trained in several species-specific hand-to-hand techniques, including Wookie wrestling. He is also a proficient marksman with his bowcaster, more rustic weapons like slings and bows, and is terrifyingly accurate with his amphistaff in spear form.
He is also a decent pilot of the 'Knight's Cloak' and has expressed interest in learning to pilot a fighter - though he argues that only a coral skipper would be big enough for him. - Personality: Though stoic and aggressive at times, Rhaka is ultimately a father, warrior and guardian. While he might put on a tough mask - one that can rip the arms off a gundark without batting an eye - there is a softness within that cares deeply for his charges.
When those charges are threatened, his calm intelligence vanishes and only the cruel mind of a deadly predator remains.
- Weapon of Choice: Amphistaff and Bowcaster.
- Combat Function: While Rhaka and Khet have worked together for several years, Rhaka resents the 'ranged combat support' role Khet asks him to fulfill. But he understands that the enemies they face are deadly and often trained in lightsaber combat.
As such, when they work together, Rhaka remains further from combat than he usually would, firing and harrying their enemy and dealing with their target's minions.
However, should Khet get himself into trouble or they have cornered their enemy, Rhaka never hesitates to spring into melee, his amphistaff presenting a very concerning new weapon to an embattled foe.
- Muscle Bound: Rhaka is strong even by Yuuzhan Vong standards and his style of melee combat allows him to put it to good use, as well as being able to handle the kick back of a traditionally made bowcaster without assistance.
- Warrior Mind: Rhaka is a focused and driven individual. While he might seem like a hulking brute to some, there is a leader's tactical mind behind the scars and tattoos.
- Force Dead: Like most Yuuzhan Vong, Rhaka is completely absent from the Force and immune to illusions and mind tricks. While this does not effect his physical form or things he is holding, poorly informed or egotistical Jedi, Sith and others have learned the hard way that he cannot be manipulated by the Force.
- Technically Tolerant: As a Yuuzhan Vong exposed to the wider galaxy from a young age, Rhaka is more excepting of technology. While he prefers handmade things, he is willing to use a blaster or ship out of necessity. Unlike other colonies of Yuuzhan Vong, he has come to see 'life' in droids and rather loathes the 'dead machines' of computers and pities droids who undergo frequent memory wipes.
- Electronically Illiterate: While willing to learn and use technology, Rhaka only has a very basic understanding of most common tech, and even then lacks the creativity to use it to the fullest. Without Khet or one of the droids nearby, he has a hard time using standard computer interfaces.
- Warrior First: Rhaka believes in 'aggressive negotiations.' There is little room for diplomacy in his mind, unless it was intended to start that way. If they aren't shooting at you now, they will soon is his motto. Thus, he finds it hard to remain calm when Khet or his clan is threatened. While he can be deceptive, his anger often gets the better of him.
- I Can't Swim!: He is too dense to swim, lacking any fat deposits because of the genetic manipulation his bloodline was subjected to as an offshoot of the ancient Warrior Caste. While he can force himself to remain afloat, and knows how to physically swim, without flotation devices he tires quickly and is susceptible to drowning.
