Early Life:
Rhys Halcyon was born on Denon around the time of the Galactic Alliance's return to the Core Worlds. His mother was a travelling rogue Force-User on the run for petty crimes, apprehended when Rhys was 6 months old. His father was unknown. Showing signs of Force sensitivity, CorpSec turned the baby over to the fledgling New Jedi Order on Coruscant.
Rhys has lived his entire life in the Jedi Temple, confined within while war gripped the galaxy. Rhys was raised on stories and holonet videos of great Jedi war heroes like Ryv Karis or Dagon Kaze and dreams of joining his brothers on legendary battlefields like Ziost or Korriban. His teachers did not share the same affinity for war stories, and Rhys' head-in-the cloud nature made him feel confined by classrooms and instructors. Early on his masters pinned him for training as a Jedi Sentinel as he had difficulty with meditation and the more contemplative side of the Jedi, yet he possessed a great talent for dealing with people.
Rhys would get his desired taste of the real outside world in an unfortunate manner as he lived through the harrowing experience that was the Great Battle of Coruscant. Though he survived unharmed, he witnessed many Jedi give their lives to protect him and his fellow younglings of the next generation. In his mind, his role as a Jedi was cemented.
Coruscant was a defining moment in the young boy's life, where a naïve Youngling grew into an emboldened, if in many ways still naïve, Padawan. In the wake of the disaster Rhys pushed his masters to allow for his initiate trial, in which he encountered difficulty, but the examiners believed the boy's resolve could be useful during the chaotic times of the new Hyperspace War and ultimately passed him..
