Based off what some might consider outdated technology, the Rifle Silencer isn’t a suppressor as some would have you believe, but is in fact a silencer. Rather than attempt to reduce the gas expansion of a rifle the Silencer instead focuses on containing the sound waves that the expansion creates.
Technically the rifle still makes the same loud pop when fired, you just can’t hear it. So does it make a sound? That’s besides the point. The point is, using the same technology as the SNS-600 Sound Bubble, the riffle silencer contains the barrel and muzzle of a weapon in a sound proof bubble. Inside the bubble noises can’t enter, nor can they escape. In effect it is two bubbles, one elongated oval covering the entire length of the barrel from breach to muzzle, and another covering about thirty centimeter sphere around the muzzle of the weapon.
It is totally effective in hiding the sound of the weapon firing, not even aural sensors can detect what should be a very loud bang. Instead the only noises produced by the weapon is chambering the bolt and the sound of the bullet travelling through the air. This innovation allows you to hunt that dangerous game without as much risk. Nobody likes to hit a rancor and then have it tear through a jungle after them.
