Right in Two

Dust settled over a dry, barren wasteland. Armed Bonebreakers prowled the surface world, scanning for inconsistencies. Most of hers had mended. They didn't know. Blessed at birth with free will, blessed with reason. And this is what they choose.

The villa was hardly a villa, but being the only standing structure in sight there was no other structure to contest its claim. She was pretty sure that's not really how it worked, but they had established the law. She had worked in the villa, but that was all. Never did she rest there.

Sand blew across the surface over Vanja's hatch, raining down upon her dry and busted up skin. She coughed her silent scream as her throat complained. Her knees touched against her chest. It wasn't that it was her preferred position, rather that this was all she had space for when sitting down in the long cylinder hole of darkness under the ground.

A special place for a special girl. Her attitude and inability to shut up really got her places.

Above her, they were all confused. The Force looked upon them puzzled and amused. Repugnant is a creature who would squander the ability to lift an eye to the heaven conscious of his fleeting time here.

Ao Xian

Everyone Forgets the Tail Flick
Ao was annoyed.

By the mission, the planet, the people here. Everything about it was unpleasant, from the fact that she had been dispatched (although she would claim clearly that this had been her own idea until her dying breath) to the scouring sands and biting winds.

It meant that the death's these men faced were fuel not by hunger, boredom or the simple joy of the hunt, no.

They were fueled by the deep seeded irritation and physical discomfort of a creature who tolerated no such insults.

She didn't even eat them. Just left them bleeding on the sands. The trail of bodies, some fallen by the Force and some by fang and claw littered the path of the story behind her, still and slowly cooling. She left them to rot, to be taken by carrion creatures. They did not deserve the righteous death that would sustain her. They were the reason she was here.

The Twi'lek? Yes, technically, but in Ao's mind she did not blame the female. While some annoyance and perhaps even scorn would be thrown in her direction when the time came, she was perfectly content to vent her anger on these, those who had the temerity to take a member of the empire, her empire (Carnifex's yes, but that was irrelevant when Ao was feeling that odd, egg clutching, protective bent).

She had followed the scent of her quarry (not prey, not in the moment at least) through the Villa out into the wastes.

And she hated every second of it.

Above the girl, a body would land heavily, eyes wide and staring in death down through the hatch. Blood flowed down on her, drip drop, for a long moment before something hauled it away, a long, curved claw hooking the ankle casually.

Sapphire eyes, squinting against the sands, wide predator's mouth full of teeth above her.

And then, the Xykan shook out her mane, looking grumpy that she could not get all of the sand out. With a flick of the Force, the broke the lock and opened the hatch, peering down.

"Vanja Del'Vaan," she said, looking down at her. "The peacock sends his regards."
