STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES:
Medical Programming: Rigor, as it's name perhaps echoes to some is a fully operational medical droid. Designed by Vanir Technologies to originally serve the function of a highly trained surgical droid Rigor comes pre-programmed with hundreds of thousands of surgeries, medical treatments, and species anatomies. It was designed, along with the rest of his line, to be the perfect medical droid for almost any species. This programming is retained now, and he is perfectly capable of performing most medical treatments and surgeries all on it's own, though obviously it requires the necessary equipment to do those surgeries. Unlike other medical droids, Rigor is also perfectly capable of improvising surgeries due to advanced programming from Vanir Technologies.
Defensive Programming: Unlike many other Medical Droids Rigor has defensive programming. Though it is not up to par to many assassin droids or so called "Jedi Hunters" Rigor is perfectly capable of defending itself. Though it prefers to use long range weaponry such as sniper rifles and more accurate pistol weapons Rigor is perfectly capable of defending itself in hand to hand combat simply due to it's weight and strength. Obviously because of its nature as a droid, Rigor is perfectly able to brute force things, and due to the droids more dexterous nature as a Medical Droid he is also capable of more subtle manipulation within combat.
Lack of Empathy: Though perhaps not an obvious weakness, many would find it's bedside manner to be...lacking. Rigor did not come pre-programmed with the idea of empathy or sympathy. Though many medical droids are designed to use an essence of tact in their language and manner, Rigor is not. The droid is blunt, upfront, and does not hold information back from it's patience. If Rigor inspects an injured being and evaluates the idea of treating them to be a lost cause, it will make its calculations known.
EMP & Ion Weapons: Obviously, as a droid, Rigor is intensely vulnerable to ion and EMP weapons. Though it is resistant to all but the strongest ion attacks, Rigor is still vulnerable to weaker ion weapons. They will not shut it down completely, but a strike from an ion blaster will slow it significantly and damage it's systems. The same can be said for an EMP grenade. Heavier Ion weapons will cause a temporary shut down, and a significant enough EMP blast will require a manual override from an outside force to reactivate him.
APPEARANCE:
Rigor has the appearance of many other humanoid droids.
Officially, Rigor and the VT-MD line of droids was designed to create a sense of comfort in those being treated. The droids went through significant production development and eventually their design was finished with a matte-black paint scheme. Their forms are obviously humanoid, their hands having five fingers and their forms taking on a very general human shape. The lack of eyes was a conscious decision, it's face instead being altered with a sensor suite and an odd acrylic display showing emotive circuitry. This decision was reached to simply keep a distinctive droid feeling around the VT-MD droid line.
Rigor is somewhat unique in the line of VT-MD's. Unlike the other droids of the same make it features heavier armor, it's face has an odd orange glow, and it's inner-workings are a bit more finely tuned. This was done by the request of Kiran Vess, and was done to suit Rigor's more active roll as a battlefield medic and active agent within Saeva Incorporated.
BIOGRAPHY:
Rigor was created as an experimental medical droid by Vanir Technologies.
The VT-MD line of droids was crafted as a replacement for current medical droids in the galaxy. After extensive testing and study it was found that the use of Medical Droids, albeit efficient, created a distinct lack of empathy and disconnect between patient and doctor. This disconnect was found to be a great loss with Vanir Technologies test subjects, and the experiments the corporation was running. The evaluation by the companies Cloning Division, as well as its Subsidiary; Void Genetics, eventually landed on a differing solution that rendered the VT-MD line of droids inert.
Of course Rigor was kept in tact by a simple request of Kiran Vess.
Being part owner of Vanir Technologies, and Alric Kuhn's close compatriot, Kiran was well aware of the MD projected within the Corporation. When he found out about the programs scrapping, he made a request that at least one VT-MD would be slightly altered and given to Saeva Incorporated.
Though the PMC of course had medical personnel and contained the means to acquire more, Kiran is a big fan of new things, mores so the Zeltron Commander was more then aware of the potential of an unfeeling killing machine with the capability of literally fixing his soldiers on the go. Saeva Incorporated of course, had little to no need for empathy in its doctors. Modifications were quickly made to Rigor, it's chasis upgraded, it's programming updated, and it's function forming from medical droid into more of a battlefield medic.
Since then Rigor has taken part in several smaller scale operations within Saeva Incorporated and has proven to be an effective, albeit apathetic, asset.
As Rigor has evolved it has become something more then a simple droid. It has become something of an AI, It's mind expanding and his knowledgebase becoming vast. Rigor is more then a simple droid now, it is a network, capable of thinking, acting, and responding all on its own.
Instead of consisting of one program, one droid, or indeed one single entity Rigor is now an amalgam of different systems all working towards the same goal. It would be inaccurate to describe this function as a 'hive' mind or even a true AI. Though Rigor is capable of independent thought the former droid is not really intelligent. Unlike a human mind, Rigor is instead pressed and pointed forward by a series of advanced algorithms that govern and maintain its growth as well as expansion. This is what separates Rigor from an AI like Omni. Rigor for all intense and purposes is simply a hyper advanced programming running under it's own inhibitions, self expanding and pressing forward, but in a limited manner.
