Strengths
- Size isn't everything: Judge Riyo based on her height and litheness at your own peril. Riyo is trained in several martial arts, including that of her mother's people, and is a fairly strong student of the control school of force abilities, making her deadly in hand to hand combat.
- Affinity to the Cold: being both Pantoran and Echani, both of Riyo's races have a natural affinity for colder environments, and so Riyo can get away with wearing less (for example, just robes or a jumpsuit) on planets that would require most species to cover themselves in heavy and unwieldy clothing
- Unorthodox: Riyo's combat style, especially her sparing use of a lightsaber in favor of martial arts or echani blades, is rather unusual for a Jedi and can easily catch someone off guard who was expecting a more orthodox opponent
- Element of Surprise: K'tara especially requires its users to extremely stealthy and makes great use of the element of surprise. Being an expert in this form of martial arts, Riyo has mastered using surprise as a weapon and as such can capitalize on such an element with astonishing speed.
- This Weapon is Not Your Life: While her unorthodoxy can aid in surprise and throw an unsuspecting enemy off balance, her sparing use of her lightsaber, and especially her use of her much shorter echani blades, does leave her vulnerable to several disadvantages, including a lack of reach and having to adjust for the weight of bladed weapons
- Not a Jedi Blademaster: For the most part because of her unorthodox combat style, Riyo is far from the most skilled lightsaber combatant in the order, reaching only intermediate levels and specialized only in the defensive Forms I and III
- I Walk the Line: A Jedi Shadow is a very difficult job, one that often leads to an extreme devotion to destroying the dark side and a violent distaste for all things sith. Like many shadows of old, Riyo has to constantly walk the line of never wavering in her devotion to the light yet never allowing herself to manifest hatred and passion towards destroying the dark side.
