PRODUCTION INFORMATION

SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Increases subject's physical capabilities and aggression.
  • Built-In night vision and target acquisition systems.
STRENGTHS
  • Shredding: In place of arms, an implanted subject brandishes a pair of laser-sheathed claws, capable of peeling open heavy armor.
  • Unyielding: A series of drug-injectors run along the spine implant, injecting powerful painkillers and combat stimulants when the system senses damage.
  • Fearless: Flayer implantees are kept in a near-constant state of rage, and are too mindlessly stupid to be frightened or manipulated.
WEAKNESSES
  • Hands to Yourself: As the implants replace the hands, the subject has no way of manipulating objects.
  • Inner Demons: Flayer implantees are typically little more than maddened war machines, and as such mental ability and cognition are greatly impaired.
DESCRIPTION

The first of many cyborgized horrors belched from the laboratories of the Tomb Legion, the RLF Flayer implant suite could only be the work of a madman.

Continuing the collaboration between Helix Solutions and Carthus Marr, the Flayer system is a comprehensive series of implants designed by the former. The latter then typically supplies the vat-grown, undead organic components (largely culled from C-strain zombies).

Mercifully for the galaxy's inhabitants, these systems are typically not implanted in living victims, as testing showed that most life forms' bodily functions collapsed in moments under the strain.

The arms terminate in a pair of meter-long, razor sharp claws that crackle with barely-constrained energy. These performed well under testing, able to peel open the sides of armored vehicles to get at the crew, or carve through most forms of personal armor. Thanks to the Phrik used in their construction, these are also highly resistant to energy-based damage.

The legs typically end at the knee, replaced by cybernetic legs of a digitigrade structure. These provide a considerable running speed and leaping distance, and implantees were observed to be able to reach the roof of a two-story building with a standing jump.

Perhaps most importantly, the spinal column is riddled with chemical injectors, and covered with thick metal plates to prevent damage. These injectors contain a cocktail of extremely powerful combat stimulants and pain suppressors. Coupled with the typical implantee's undead physiology, these allow the subjects to sustain terrible damage and remain standing. One implantee in preliminary trials was observed to lose nearly 62% of its body mass, and yet still briefly attempt to drag itself towards a perceived foe with one remaining limb before animation ceased.

Lastly, the head is encased permanently in an eerie, monstrous helmet, with clicking arachnoid mandibles and several pairs of glowing photoreceptors. These are capable of seeing in near-total darkness, and highlighting victims for the implantee's dim intelligence.

The overall effect is deliberately terrifying, producing a roaring, snarling madman that is as witlessly stupid as it is bone-snappingly powerful. Most implantees will stand approximately 3.1 meters tall, and weigh approximately 920 kilograms.
