STRENGTHS
- Space Superiority: Designed to be able to not just survive but win dogfights, the Starbird features exceptional maneuvering in both atmosphere and zero-gravity settings. Its higher maneuverability allows it to outpace and outmaneuver opposing fighters in tight situations, ultimately allowing it to seize victory. In addition to that, the Starbird has high offensive capabilities that allow it to effectively punch above its own weight at a variety of targets.
- Jack of all Fighters: The Starbird is designed to, at the very least, meet standards in all aspects of starfighter criteria. It's maneuverability and offensive capabilities are exceptional, while its speed and defenses meet the standard. Although it is not designed to excel in every role, the Starbird can adequately perform in any role that a starfighter would typically serve in.
- Blindspot: The Starbird features no rear-facing weapons, meaning that if an enemy starfighter manages to drop onto the Starbird's tail, they will find it easy to deal damage without fear of immediate retribution.
- Only as Good as its Pilot: Although the Starbird features a wide variety of technologies and components that make it a truly exceptional fighter, at the end of the day the Starbird will only perform to the extent of its pilot's skill. This means that the Starbird's effectiveness will be decreased when piloted by someone with poor skill or little experience.
Even before its inception into the galactic market, Roble Manufacturing has always understood one thing: starships. Its love letter of a craft, the designers, and directors of the company have an intimate understanding of the minute complexities of the craft that sail through the stars. Thus, it was a no-brainer that the best technologies and thought of design go into the flagship fighter craft of Roble Manufacturing. And so the RMS-SC01 Starbird Space Superiority Starfighter was born - a next-generation starfighter designed to outfly and outperform any opposing force.
The Starbird at a glance has few vices to complain about. The starfighter is well-rounded, that is to be sure, with shield systems, potent offensive capabilities, and exceptional maneuvering feats that can be achieved by able pilots. But perhaps that is the most pressing issue that users of the Starbird will come up against -- the need for able pilots. A ship is only as good as the person that pilots it, and for all of its qualities, the Starbird is no exception. The starfighter also faces a lack of rear-facing weapons, which can be taken advantage of by industrious opponents. However, when compared to the many great qualities of the Starbird, these issues seem almost trivial.
To begin with, the Starfighter features a bevy of defenses installed -- the most obvious being an MRS-02 Jotun Defensive System. The Jotun provides the starfighter with ample shielding for a craft of its size, allowing it to be able to survive chance cannon fire and give it ample time to turn and deliver in kind. A RAAM-M3 Tactical Ordnance Jammer and AR-0B hull component only serve to intensify the starfighter's defenses, but another key component to the Starbird's defenses lie in its maneuverability. Designed along with the idea that defenses are no problem if you can't be hit in the first place, the Starbird features exceptional maneuverability both in-atmosphere and in zero-gravity. A multitude of precision boosters allows the fighter to quickly turn and perform all sorts of rolls, flips, accelerations, and decelerations.
Once a Starbird has managed to outmaneuver its opponent, then the starfighter will be able to let loose with its impressive armaments. Two laser cannons and four medium laser cannons constitute an impressive array of primary anti-starfighter power and allow the Starbird to output a greater deal of damage in a low amount of time. The Starbird also features two Flex Tube launchers, allowing it to carry and fire various ordnance -- including the MG34 Grenadier Proton Torpedo. All-in-all, the Starbird is a powerful, sophisticated, and capable ship that will no likely become infamous among friends and foes alike.
