Roleplaying Canon Characters?

Dear Staff,

Character Creation Rules state that you cannot create a Canon Character as your PC. However, neither the General Rules nor the RP Rules state anything about them.

Thusly,

Q: Can I roleplay with Canon Characters, (from any canon, in any holocron, or even a force ghost,) as NPCs?

ahhh there's the question I was wanting to ask. So then if I RP'ed an NPC as a canon character say for the sake of argument Han or somebody would that be ok? If i did the whole NPC and Dev threads and such for "Master level characters" I really want to do this now....

It was never explicitly banned but it's always been frowned on.

The problem comes when people start writing these characters as if they're their own. That is why we don't allow it.
Ah. I understand. Honestly, that's one of the main reasons I usually stay away from it.

so then would my having a saber from a Kotor 2 character and their Force ghost attached to it being banned? Especially if even though the character was canon and their characte In SWTOR is legends...I mean that's what I've been doing with the spirit attached to a saber I worked to get. I thought that's how this dealio worked. You write and work for your stuff. so then my having said item and people telling me that's not allowed violates the rule that says people can't tell me how to write my stories or character. example wise Valiens said I can't write a story arc I planned this certain way so then wouldn't Valiens be breaking a rule. Maybe I should just get a club filled with twi'leks so that they overlook it.

Could i just work from the assumption I'm writing the aspect of the character from SWTOR game which isn't canon?

explain and discuss plz

No character from canon or legends canon can appear as a character in your RPs. This includes Revan, the Exile, your TOR character, or any other player created character.
You may reference them, you may refer to the histories you created in games. You can even have characters who knew and talked with a canon character, but the actual character cannot be here. They're not yours, so your interpretation will likely go against someone else's.

Obviously canon artefacts are fine.

Just want to point out that, while some Holocrons may have the actual character's spirit residing in them at some point, 99% of holocrons simply have "gatekeepers" that retain those character's desired (see: what they wanted) personalities and appearances rather than being the actual force ghost of Darth Muffin or Jedi Knight Pancake.

So then the whole force spirit whether legends or canon speaking to my Charachter is a no go? So then whoever set up that rule is breaking the rule that dictates one character example (Joe Blow) CANNOT dictate how another person writes their Character/Story ie me. So how is that right? I've spent the last month and time before that writing this item as having a spirit attched to it that full on has interaction through conversations with my character. So you're saying that is not allowed?

First I was nearly reported for and had to find another Master due to talking about my character having dealt with rape/ sexual assault as part of mty character's backstory. I never broke the rule which stated no active portrayal of rape, pedophilia etc. yet I was still punished for writing my character MY way. Now I'm being told what amounts to "Hey even though you've worked for this item you can't use it the way you wanted or the story that you want to write." So what's the point of the rules then if even the admins break them by telling you no you can't write your character your way sorry lol.

I'm not trying to cause problems honest. I just want to write my story MY way. And it keeps feeling like doing so is getting myself punished. Maybe I should start doing the same thing saying sorry guys even though you worked for this item and story arc you can't better luck next time. (Satirical writing I wouldn't actually do that.)

Side-note. Would reanimation of the dead ie what the Sith Zomble lady does be too much? Would learning electric judgement be too much even though I'm threading with a Master learning the power together? What will everyone say I can't do next what else will people say no you can't do that and limit MY story my way be on? Do you see my problem with this? Honestly I'm not trying to cause problems but I want nothing more than to write my story MY way. Is that against the rules? I thought going agaisnt hte rules i what creative people did and if someone wants to write say a clone commando their way is that what we're about embracing the Chaos.

Regarding the spirit thing, you've been given your answer.

Regarding your other questions, please ask them in a separate thread - Question threads should be kept on topic.
