Rolin was, and still is, desperate for a cause to believe in. As soon as the opportunity presented itself for him to join a cause bigger than himself, Rolin jumped at the chance. He aims to please and sets out to do as he is told. Though that doesn't mean he cant have any fun with it when presented with the chance.
-
Strengths
-Courageous- No matter the danger, Rolin will fulfill the duty expected of him.
-Humble- Rolin is a modest individual, himself not liking braggarts whatsoever and vowing to not act or think like that.
-Driven- Rolin will do his utmost to complete whatever task that was given to him, be it a high stake mission given to him by a Lord Commander, or a simple caf run.
Neutral
-Baby Face- Rolin has a youthful face, making him appear a few years younger than he truly is. It can often be annoying, what with many not believing him of his true age without his identification. But it can also be advantageous, with many underestimating him and allowing him a better opportunity to blend in.
-My Country Right Or Wrong- Rolin is a patriot to the Eternal Empire, loyal to the state and the cause. He will follow his orders, and do as he is told, as he believes in the order it brings and the doctrine it provides.
-Legitimized Bastard- The bastard son between a minor noble and one of lower class. When Rolin's mother died, his father took him in fully, legitimizing him despite his wife's rage and protests. Due to his status, many of the nobility looks down on him for his birth. But to the lower class, nobility is nobility.
Weaknesses
-Rose Tinted Glasses and a Jaundiced Eye- Depending on the individual Rolin will have an idea of what kind of person they are when they meet, and it is difficult for him to change his mind about them. If they are someone he greatly likes and respects, he is blind to any faults or corruption they may have. But in the reverse, if he greatly dislikes someone, it is difficult for him to see any redeeming qualities in them. –
-Has Something To Prove- Rolin, deep down, has the desire to please those above him. To show that he is indeed worth their time and efforts. To do that he will put himself in mortal danger to achieve his mission, as well as do whatever it takes to do so, even if he must do things he knows he will later regret.
-OverThinker- Rolin has the bad habit of overthinking things, picking apart his own plans and ideas, every minute flaw, and simply dwells on a single issue for too long.

Rolin's life began with the breaking of vows. In the year 856, a minor noble, Refner, the second of his name and title as Ser Doan II, had an affair with a lowly civilian who worked in the manor as a servant, despite marrying to another noble, also apart of a young family line. Eventually, due to Refners foolishness, the servant became pregnant. Refner paid the girl many credits, to raise the boy and to keep quiet about the situation. But, after four years, Rolin's mother died during a mugging gone wrong. Refner originally wanted to sweep the entire situation under the rug, but his father Ser Refner the first, demanded his son to take the boy in, that honor demanded it so. Any humiliation that their family name suffers is on him, not the boy. Of course Refner IIs wife was furious, but there was nothing she could do as Refner the first was still the head of their house.
And so Rolin grew up as the legitimate bastard son of Ser Refner the second, who barely paid attention to his other, 'true' children too busy with expanding his political presence, let alone his unwanted bastard son. His stepmother hated him for his mere existence, seeing him as a threat to her own children and their inheritance. Rolins grandfather then took the role as his parental figure, beating military doctrine and how to act as a noble into his head, alongside his half-sibling. But unfortunately, Rolins grandfather died of heart failure, leaving him alone with those that barely tolerated his existence, or outright wanted him out of the way.
It was shortly after Rolin's grandfather passed that the dreams began. Dreams of war. Conflict. Death. Destruction. Betrayal. Each night was a different scene, with different people and different places. But often they were similar. A hero falling to the dark, becoming a villain in the eyes of their past allies. Two forces engaged in war, one of light and one of dark. A planet of billions of innocents being destroyed on the whims and sadistic pleasure of one man. A space station destroyed by a valiant hero to save the galaxy, only for a new threat to emerge less than a century later. Time and time again the dreams persisted. Each dream a different conflict but still the same, like a never-ending cycle, a reincarnation of death and war.
Even during his waking hours, Rolin was unable to escape others' pasts. Sometimes, when he held something, usually a personal item of value to someone, he could feel…echoes, memories of the past. The first time this phenomenon occurred, he was holding the blaster rifle of his late grandfather, who gifted it to the boy upon his death, which made his half-brother furious. When his fingers met the cold metal, his vision turned to a searing white. He heard men crying out in pain, could smell the stench of burnt flesh, could feel the tremors of artillery striking the earth. Terrified, Rolin dropped the rifle, vowing to never touch the thing again, thinking it was cursed, and simply let his half brother have it. But it happened once more, this time with an instrument that belonged to his stepmother. He was only curious, having never seen one of its type before, and plucked a string. Once again, a searing white like enveloped him, and he could hear the harsh instructions of a teacher, and the petulant cries of a child who didn't care about some stupid stringed instrument. He could almost feel a switch striking against her wrist for every wrong move.
Due to these dreams and visions, Rolin developed insomnia, unable to peacefully sleep. He became depressed and cynical, unable to truly believe in anything, believing that no matter what he did, what anyone did, his and anyone else's echoes in the universe will fade to nothing, and that the same events will happen again, and again.
When Rolin turned thirteen, he was discovered to be force sensitive and was invited to join the Spear, to train him in his force sensitivity to better serve the Empire. Of course, his step-mother convinced his father to send him over, despite Rolins own reluctance. But when Rolin arrived to his destination, he found he instead was at another, secret facility entirely.
It was there that Rolin met with a masked individual, who asked him a series of questions, ones that were personal, that struck his very being. The masked one asked him if he wanted to make change, to no longer to be a slave to fate, but to enslave fate, the force itself, instead. To choose their own destinies, to defy it. And for the first time in his life, something warm blossomed in his chest. A purpose, something to strive towards. So Rolin accepted, desperate to feel like that even more, to understand the nightmares he had, to actually do something that truly had meaning. For the next five years Rolin trained in the facility, tackling as many holocrons as he was allowed to, giving his all to the harsh instructors that trained him and others. He then waited, to be chosen as an apprentice, to finally use his training and gain more power and knowledge so that he may do his part to achieve true peace.
