TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • Classification: Bastard Sword/Hand & Half Sword
  • Size: Large
  • Weight: Heavy
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Blade is cold to the touch
  • Sharpened by Svolten Rhyolite
  • Spike/Tendril protrusion ability
Strengths:
  • A Sword by Any Other Name: Created through the force, the blade is naturally more resistant to being destroyed by other weaponry. This allows for blocking of lightsabers, blasters, and even other blades. Crafted with a crossguard to allow parrying, blocking, and defensive stances with a healthy mix of offensive. The blade itself has been sharpened by Svolten Rhyolite, and is also invested into the self-sharpening sheath to make sure the blade is just as sharp as the day it was forged. Specifically built to the size and build of Shaun, the sword is longer than you average arming sword, but just shy of a longsword with a hand and a half hilt. Allowing for one and two handed usage. This will permit either one handed strikes to use an offhand for another tool, or to use both hands permitting better control, and finesse with the blade. Vardium steel crated into an alloy with Crystadurium shards impregnated into the weapon. Providing the steel to be more resilient to energy based weaponry. Balanced out with a denser metal of Farium for the guard, pommel and spacer to lower the center of gravity to be closer towards the crossguard, rather than forward along the blade towards the belly or the point. Allowing a fairly hefty blade to be much more manageable in a duel with other melee weapons.
  • Fingers in Everything: A unique use of the blade is when focused upon, will summon tendrils of dark sided power to extend from the blade itself. These tendrils can act as a secondary weapon, or a defensive tool. A major example could be stated for sword locking. Either the tendril can lash out to strike the opponent while their weapon is currently locked into place with the sword, or can be used to defend against dual wielding foes. This can also extend to fighting to enemies at once. Focusing upon the weapon with the comparable energy to that of a Lightsaber, will create tendrils about 3/4's the length of the blade itself. However, pouring more energy and focus into the weapon will allow these tendrils to extend up to double the swords length, attack more quickly, or with more force depending upon the desired use of the wielder. One one of these extensions of its use is available at a time as using two or all three can consume too much energy to sustain for anything more than a second.
  • You are Not Safe: The tendrils created through the dark side of the force have one more vital usage that can turn the tide of any battle or fight. As the sword itself is used as a conduit for this power and ability, Should one touch the blade to a wall, floor, ceiling, or otherwise a surface, the wielder can project these tendrils to move through the medium in which their sword is touching, to strike out at range from them. The biggest example would be an enemy running away, the wielder could then touch the blade to the ground, and focus energy to extend the tendrils through the medium to lash out at the enemy from a range.
Weaknesses:
  • Nope Button: As a weapon that uses the force, should it enter or be affected by force nullification, it can decrease the effectiveness of the abilities or even completely nullify them as long as they are being affected by said effect. More over, the sword would lose major resistances within a Anti-Force bubble. While it is still rather energy resistant, it can still be damaged and broken there in. As well, all abilities that could be used with the weapon would be reduced to nothing.
  • Fatigue of War: Fighting with a fairly hefty blade can tire a user who is not experienced with a sword. While this can be reduced a slight amount from training, as well as a masterly crafted weapon to take account the balance of the weapon, keeping it more mobile despite it's weight, The sword can tire a person out over longer fights. With this, using the force to use these abilities is quite exhausting and stressful upon the body.
  • Concentration: Using the force to create the tendrils is not a one and done deal. It requires constant focus and energy usage over time to make sure that one has control over these tendrils, as well as keeping the vaporizing fingers from striking oneself, and allies. Thusly, This weapon requires a level of focus and concentration were only a Master of the force could permit the use of utilizing the blade's abilities, while also using the force from their own body. Much more so, using the extensions, or the ability to extend the tendrils through a medium requires even more energy than simply wielding the sword while the tendrils are activated. The same can be stated for the tendrils while still connected to the sword, to attack faster, with more force, or at a longer reach, requires more energy. As long as you hold the ability, it is a constant drain on the user.
  • Collateral Allies: As the tendrils are directly controlled by the wielder, if they cannot control them, the tendrils can lash out at allies, enemies, as well as oneself. This could be very devastating as the tendrils will fight back against a person who attempts to take the blade for themselves. While a person focuses upon the weapon to summon these tendrils, They need to be directly touching the weapon to "open and close" this door to allow the tendrils to be active. Should someone lose control of the weapon while fighting, and drop the weapon, in order for them to retrieve the sword, they first need to garner control over the tendrils and then pick up the weapon.
  • A Door Opens Two Ways: As mentioned in the previous weakness, the weapon has a "door" that must be opened between the wielder and the sword. Allowing for the sword to draw energy from the user. Once this door is opened, It stays open unless the user actively closes said "door." This means there is a constant drain on the user even if the wielder is not directly using the weapon. This can prove fatal for the user as expending too much energy can severely damage the wilder of the blade, send them into an unconscious state, drain the user of the force, Kill the user, or even sever the user from the force as the sword has drawn all of the energy, including the sensitivity to the force, from the person who activated the door. There are only three ways in which the sword will "Turn off." Either closing this proverbial door, Losing all of the force potential they have, or dying.
  • The Light, It Burns Us: As with any dark sided, or dark aligned artifact, the light can do damage to such a weapon. A sanitary force used to cleanse the darkside of it's corruption. While the Lightside of the force can damage the weapon, it can also reduce the effectiveness of the weapon, render it inert, or even completely destroy the weapon outright.
DESCRIPTION
Shadows move and shift while away from the sight of the sun. Thriving within the dim reflection of the moon. Filled with hatred and a malevolence that could rival the gods. Yet, they could not. Stuck within the shadows. The light was their mortal enemy. Lua had given them a chance to live within her light. Dimming herself to allow the shadows to live, thrive, and move under her wings.

These shadows are darkness. untapped power and destructive ability. However, when tamed, when controlled within a conduit, a source from which they could be used to a greater efficiency, this is when they found their purpose. Their soul housed within the cold steel of the Pale Moonlight, bound by brightness of the sun and flame, and released by their master. This singular blade became the focal point for Moonlight, and its lunar prowess.

Shadows radiate from the blade to defend and attack for their master. Their Warrior Prince. Yet, should he bid them to chase down his prey, no wall, no door, no person could stop them. Holding their foe, tying them down, or rend them into savage limbs and parts. But as always, returning to the master for their orders. For their leader to use them once more and harness their potential. For he fears not the darkness, nor lack of light. He revels in it. Smothering himself within the power he forged himself.

Touch him that you may gain his strength. Feel him for you may gain his swiftness. Silence yourself so you may hear them. Shadows silently moving to his beck and call.

Fear for what could come of this.

[member="Shaun Irons"] - Most of the weaknesses are really just in the hands of the wielder's writer. Looking at it from a gameplay perspective, the blade isn't balanced at the moment. While that can easily be fixed, my bigger concern are these tendrils. Can you show me any Star Wars material that may validate their properties/existence?

[member="Zef Halo"],

Currently the only thing that could match up to these tendrils are the Dark Side Tendrils. However, as this ability can vaporize anything by barely touching it, I didn't want to throw the namesake into the thread and have the idea that these tendrils can destroy just about anything. Specifically mentioning no vaporization and to leave the damage received to the determination of the writer who is on the opposing side of this blade.

Second, this ability also completely corrupted anyone who was struck by it. It has no reference of having a "Chance" to, but directly states "dark side tendrils were able to instantly annihilate any kind of matter they get in contact with, as well as subject the individual who got injured to the full scope of the void of the dark side." I also did not want this sword to incorporate this absolution for balance purposes.

I understand that the sword may not seem balanced as per the very powerful usage of the weapon, however this sword has all of the downsides that are currently listed for both this power, and a Sith Sword, (without having some notable abilities of the Sith Sword moniker such as absorbing and redirecting lightning energy).

I will also go ahead and ask this, would it be more suitable for anyone should I face potentially with this sword, must give consent to face it, and if not, I cannot use the blade against them? I can easily understand why some people may not want to fight someone with a sword such as this, and as so would be more than willing to accommodate for the task of getting this approved.
