  • Diet: Omnivore

  • Religion/Beliefs: Worship of exclusive deities called guds. This includes Mekamok, Wamka Pol, Balmtop, Dobbis, Kobble, Nododo, Balam, Gobba, and their chief god, Oma-Oma.
  • General behavior: A reclusive tribe of inventors who spend their days in solitude creating water vehicles and hovercrafts to traverse the swampy landscape of Rori. They're peaceful, not a sect of warriors like the Gungans of Naboo. They rely much more on their technology in combat. Due to having adapted for life entirely in the swamps as opposed to Naboo's subterranean ocean, they have a body plan that is more frog-like in appearance. Naboo Gungans look down on them, which reinforces their reclusive tendencies.

The Roria Gungans are considered to be a lost tribe, Gungans misplaced from their home on Naboo due to persecution in a long passed age. In 3000 BBY, the Gungans were unified under Boss Gallo. Following the rule of Gallo, a Boss with tyrannical tenancies assumed the position of power. A small sect of Gungans, lead by a now mythologized figure the Roria call Boss Stickgooshy-Gud, which translates to Swamp God from Old Gungan. Stickgooshy-Gud protested the transition of Gungan technological development towards weaponry, noting an increase in the militarization of the culture. The first of the Roria, however, would be met with supression. Seeing the Gungans of Naboo as lost, Stickgooshy-Gud organized the construction of a spacecraft, one which he and his followers used to escape to the jungle moon of Rori. The name of the moon is what gave this particular sub species their name.

In the modern day the Roria Gungans are an obscure and isolated group. They have maintained minimal contact with the outside world, only on occasion interacting with the Naboo, with whom they are rather friendly with. Due to this isolation their Gungan Basic is particularly more broken than their Naboo counterparts, resulting in a thicker accent that some struggle to understand. Their obscurity insulated them from the threat posed by the Galactic Empire, something they seem culturally oblivious to. They have a deep connection to vehicles due to the original spacecraft that lead them to safety, with most of their development being that of submersibles and hovercrafts. Without the subterranian sea of Naboo, these Gungans have evolved into a distinct subspecies optimized for swamp and jungle traversal, though they are still very genetically similar to the Otolla and Ankura.

The arrival of the Rorgungans in 32 BBY has proved to be a threat to the Roria, given this band's known xenophobic tenancies. Lacking combat prowess, the Roria Gungans have resolved to keep out of the Rorgungan territories to maintain their isolation. This conflict is still ongoing.
