- Dart: With a relatively low thrust-to-mass ratio, the Rosecry can quickly jump across a battlefield, evading slower salvos of enemy fire.
- Missiles: The Rosecry possesses a total of 7 variable-yield ordnance tubes, allowing it to deliver effective strikes against ships of its size and smaller. Multiple Rosecrys working in tandem can potentially eliminate much larger threats.
- Scanners: A patrol ship first and foremost, the Rosecry is equipped with a hyper-sensitive, long-range scanning array.
- Atmospheric Capable: The Rosecry can safely fly in atmosphere and/or land on a planet should the situation dictate such an action.
- Brittle: Possessing only medium-to-light armor plating under relatively unremarkable shields, the Rosecry is extremely vulnerable to any form of enemy fire that can come into contact with it.
- Starfighters: The Rosecry’s point defense battery consists entirely of its 4 fast-tracked turbolaser turrets, leaving it vulnerable to most formations of starfighters.
- Limited Weapons Coverage: Due to its main offensive and defensive batteries being primarily mounted toward aft, the Rosecry has an extremely limited field of fire, and a poor offensive battery which it can bring to bear.
- Engines: The Rosecry’s two nacelle-mounted ion drives are left out in the open; a lucky enemy vessel can easily take out both, dramatically compromising the frigate’s maneuverability and velocity.
As the Chandrilan Defense Fleet began to replace its numbers in the wake of the One Sith’s occupation, one of its utmost concerns was the undertaking of securing the Chandrilan region. Having taken advantage of overstretched security forces, pirate syndicates quickly began to thrive in the Bormea Sector.
The Rosecry was the Defense Fleet’s rapidly designed response to the growing crisis. 300 meters long and rather low on manpower for a vessel of its size, the CF04 could be deployed across the entirety of the Bormea Sector, its class 1.0 hyperdrive allowing such vessels to respond to local threats in an instant. When intercepting active piracy, the frigate’s immense speed and complement of starfighters and missiles meant it could quickly overwhelm most small bands of raiders with a single glancing salvo.
For the class’s successes in anti-piracy operations, members across the ranks of the Defense Fleet would take note of the Rosecry’s sheer speed and potential for overwhelming decisive strikes. In time, Rosecry squadrons would find themselves on detached service from the Chandrilan Defense Force, integrated into various Galactic Alliance battlegroups. Their powerful scanning arrays meant the vessels were well-suited toward scouting ahead of a larger fleet. In the event of combat, Rosecrys could be reintegrated into the main formation, used to coordinate fire, provide missile support, or to confuse enemy targeting with rapid movements across the battlefield.
