NAME: Roslyn Thorn
ALSO KNOWN AS: Rose | Shortknife
ALLEGIANCE: Herself
ALIGNMENT: Chaotic Neutral
FORCE SENSITIVE: Yes
AGE: 26
SPECIES: Eldorai/Umbaran
HEIGHT: 5’3”
BUILD: Athletic
EYES: White/Pale Blue
HAIR: White
THEME: Darkside

APPEARANCE:
Despite being short, Roslyn is a force to be reckoned with. Years spent training have helped build a healthy and athletic build that compliments her quick feet and swift fighting style. Her appearance strikes a particular contrast with her fair skin, white (borderline pale blue) eyes, and white hair. Beneath the layers she hides under, various scars litter her body - with a nasty burn stretching across her lower back.

PERSONALITY:

(+) Teammate - Early on, Roslyn had learned the benefits of working as a group. That there was a greater chance of achieving something if you let others help. Whether they be additional bodies in the firing line, or those she could call allies and friends.
(+) Quick Thinker - Beyond just simply been speedy on her feet, Roslyn is the type of person who can well, think on her feet. Should a situation go pear-shaped, it doesn’t take long for her to come up with an alternative and act on it.
(+/-) Unrelenting - Roslyn is the type of person that won’t let something keep her down. Once she’s set on something, she becomes determined to see it through. Sometimes however, that can blind her and wind up in worse situations.
(+/-) Potentially Insane - Everyone has their good days, and the bad days. However those that know Roslyn never know if she’s even aware of the concept. At times she can be a lightswitch, flicking between two states of sanity, making her unpredictable to anyone who doesn’t know her. But never leave Roslyn alone with absolutely nothing to occupy herself with, the results are never pretty.
(-) Pyrophobia - Due to a traumatic childhood experience, Roslyn is terrified of fire. Her reactions however can range rather wildly. From flinching at the mention of it, to outright freezing in fright when confronted with it.
(-) Slow To Trust - Past experience has ingrained the notion that anyone she trusts, will inevitable turn their back, or betray her. This has had a negative effect on how trusting Roslyn is - especially with newcomers. She’ll willingly keep everyone at arms length if possible, only letting them close if its a benefit to her.

HISTORY:
There was a time when Roslyn Thorn had never existed, one where she had gone by the birth name her parents had given her. She was born to Raissa; an Eldorai and Aurick; an Umbaran, a most unlikely pair especially in the eyes of mother’s kind. It was during the time when the Eldorai were still living on Kaeshana, keeping to themselves and looking down at any outsiders that came to their home. Aurick was adamant on wanting to see Raissa’s home, but she knew what potentially awaited him and yet he didn’t relent.

And he almost died because of it.

Umbaran’s weren’t exactly easy to disguise and hide amongst the Eldorai. With their paler skin and distinctive hair and eyes. They managed to get as far as Raissa’s family estate, where her father forced them to reveal Aurick’s identity. Her family’s reaction, was not favourable. They yell at their daughter, almost lashing out violently at her love. Raissa didn’t know what to do other than run, she knew if they had got caught they’d no doubt be lynched.

They barely got off Kaeshana before the local authorities could catch them, who had been directly alerted to their presence by Raissa’s family. Both of them were relieved to have escaped, but were unaware that this revelation; on Aurick’s part anyway, would have a more damning effect in the future.

Eventually the pair found a nice little planet to settle on, somewhere they could build a family away in quiet. However, there luck hadn’t got any better. The community they had joined didn’t not take kindly to the newcomers. At first it appeared as nothing more than just wary looks thrown their way, but it became apparent in time that they weren’t liked - at all. Those that already lived there all had a certain look, and neither Raissa or Aurick fit that bill.

The discrimination reminded Aurick of how the Eldorai had reacted to him, how Raissa’s own family had. A thought had crossed their mind to leave again, but they were expecting their first child and moving now would only disrupt things further. So they persevered, Roslyn was born and they hoped things would change.

It didn’t.

Roslyn grew up under the same scrutiny, the same discrimination and racism aimed towards her parents. She managed to make some friends, but they were often steered away from interacting with her. Over time it grew to a point that her education was being hindered, forcing Raissa and Aurick’s hand to homeschool their daughter.

But things weren’t exactly perfect in their household either. Aurick had become jaded, reminded of his treatment from the Eldorai and blindly linking it to their current situation. However he didn’t leave, he wasn’t the type to even think of it. Aurick remained for Roslyn’s sake - even if his marriage to Raissa was fading away.

An argument broke out just after Roslyn’s twelfth birthday. Raissa was occupied with cooking dinner, while Aurick was pacing around the kitchen. Things escalated to the point of violence, and not thinking things through - Raissa caused a fire to break out. It consumed their home within minutes, and for a time Roslyn had been trapped. Luckily for her, a kind samaritan was brave enough to leap into the flames and rescue her, although she had already been quite badly burned by that time.

The fate of her parents were unknown, as her rescuer happened to be part of a crew that had landed on the planet to refuel. Roslyn had been too naive at the time, not to realize that this group were in fact part of a larger criminal organization. All she cared for, was the fact someone was there to care for her.

Years passed by and Roslyn grew up as part of the gang, being taught things she had been neglected in. There were two in particular that took the young girl under their wing, teaching her everything, from basic education to how to use the Force. It was something she hadn’t even been aware of until they had told her that that they could sense it in her.

Unfortunately it seemed her parents’ poor luck had passed to her. The gang had been passing through Silver Jedi Space at the time, when she had been caught by the planet’s local authorities. It turned out that they had been searching for one of the organizations groups, in order to get information on the higher up members. They discovered and played on Roslyn’s paranoia, making her believe that there were untrustworthy elements in her “family.” In the end, they let her go but not without tailing her to where she was too meet up with the others.

They waited for backup, but what they discovered was horrifying. No one had anticipated that Roslyn would kill them all. Even the two that had taught her growing up.

She was found sitting in the middle of a massacre, unflinching with the discarded knife just laying beside her. With their lead now gone, the officers arrested Roslyn and had her incarcerated in the Citadel on Lola Sayu. It wasn’t long after that when she realized what she had done, and mourned for those that she had killed - especially the two that had mentored her. She discarded her birth name, and took on another, honouring her former teachers by taking the first name of one, and the last name of the other - becoming Roslyn Thorn.

That had been almost five years ago…
