Description:
In conjunction with the ship builders of Iron Crown Productions, Gavin Ovmar has worked on a prototype escort fighter for The Lords of the Fringe. Using his knowledge of fighters and picking the brains of some of the best Galaxies best pilots a basic design was developed for a balanced escort fighter. After several revisions the current model was put into test production. The initial design however failed to survive test in atmospheric entry and maneuvers. The design was scraped and the entire process began again. Recognizing the need benefits of a fighter capable of both Space and Atmospheric combat the collapsible wings and ventral sections were installed. The testing that followed was a success and the prototype was once again put into production for a 'finished' product. The resulting ship was christened the RS-21.
The speed of the fighter was near interceptor speeds and the load out was better than some of it's class but the fighter is still a prototype. due to the newness of the design and the combinations of building techniques, the fighter is liable to experience system anomalies including; weapons failure, weapons malfunction, hyperdrive malfunction, Engine failure, sensor failure, and even complete systems shutdown. Also the use of an internally cased astromech droid is required for optimal ship performance, this requires regular maintenance on the droid to avoid it developing "quirks". Overall the ship is a balanced machine and after several test with Gavin the Fringe will be able to decide on whether they keep the design for minor production or scrap the project in favor of another design.
