SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Solar Ionization Weapon: Based off the much larger, more powerful Solar Ionization Cannon, Merr-Sonn Munitions’ entry into the Blaster Wars fires highly charged ionized light beams rather than conventional blaster bolts, allowing them to pass through conventional shielding and melt or vaporize through metals and plastics as well as organic matter. It makes for a potent weapon for dealing with shielded infantry and droids.
Strengths:
  • Shield Splitter: The energy intense beam of light passes through conventional shielding allowing the weapon greater effectiveness against shielded enemies such as Droideka and the like.
Weaknesses:
  • Reload: As the weapon doesn’t use traditional blaster gas, the power cell is more difficult to replace, having to reload all six from the chambers.
  • Non-Conventional Shielding: Molecular shielding, Shield X, Lightsaber-like Light Shields, among other exotic types, affect energy differently than what is considered standard and thus would deflect, or absorb or affect the Suncrusher's bolts.
  • Heat Distortion: The RSIC does its best to reduce the heat produced by the weapon, using a revolving focusing chamber to limit damage to the firing mechanism, however user’s have noticed that prolonged use causes some barrel distortion and possible barrel melting. While great for light-fights, the weapon struggles to see through an entire battle.
DESCRIPTION
Merr-Sonn Munitions’ entry into the so called Blaster Wars, a competition to create the most dangerous stock model blaster between some of the ancient corporations known for arms manufacturing, is the Remastered Solar Ionization Cannon Model 11 or RSIC-11. Codenamed the “Suncrusher” during production to maintain secrecy, the nickname for the design stuck as it was rolled out in competition with Sonn-Blas’s Renegade Model 557http://starwarsrp.net/topic/138911-renegade-model-557/ and SoroSuub's Icon in the hopes of attracting attention. Merr-Sonn’s marketing team made heavy advertisements in Thyrsian space, hoping their love for such exotic weapons would cause them to flock to it over their competitors, likened to advertising cigara’s in low income neighborhoods by several Firearm-Control groups and the Thrysian Lives Matter activist group, who also called it cultural appropriation.

The Suncrusher isn’t an ambitious design, the Solar Ionization Cannon has existed for centuries, however it has been scaled down to the size of a blaster pistol and paired with Sun Crystals harvested on Jazbina to replace the traditional focusing crystal. The weapon features a revolving focusing chamber cylinder with six ignition chambers. The reason for the revolving cylinder was to reduce heat through each ignition chamber where the reaction to create the ionized beam took place so that the weapon wouldn’t melt-down and ruin the firing mechanism caused by the intense heat. With this set-up the cylinder rotates each time the weapon is fired, however the individual power cells contained within the cylinder need to be replaced after thirty beams, which takes longer than simply replacing a single, centralized power cell.

The heat concerns were also the reason the weapon’s barrel was lined with heat resistant dallorian alloy, however even still long term use has resulted in barrel distortion and repeated rapid fire use has claimed to have melted barrels into slag. Most claim it’s perfect for use in light-fights and short assaults, however it begins to suffer from barrel degradation after around an hour of heavy use. By the three hour mark, the weapon’s barrel needs to be replaced.

All in all, the weapon is powerful and more unique than it’s competition, sacrificing utility and ease of use in the process. Merr-Sonn left space for sights and attachments, included a cautionary pulserhttp://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Cautionary_pulser to alert the user when it had been reduced to six shots, and left it open to be modified as the user desired.

How effective is this weapon in passing through shielding? As you mention its usage against vaporising metals and the like. So does this "burn through shields" at a very effective rate, or does this completely ignore shields?

Solar ionization weaponry bypasses conventional shielding. There are types that are unconventional, like molecular shielding and probably a few others, plus some subbed ones that are weird. It just goes right through your normal personal shielding no stop, no connecting flights, and no delays.

As for burning metal and organics, any blaster does that, granted it's in colorful language since it's stopping power is rated as "high". I believe we consider that "high" for a heavy blaster pistol, but still.

There is a bad habit going around where people are creating weapons that go directly through shielding types. If you could be so kind as to mention what kinds of shielding that this weapon cannot go through. Preferably a weakness.

I ask for clarification purposes as some may have different definitions as "conventional"

[member="Laira Darkhold"], Thank you for accommodating me with this submission.

Fair warning if these are pulled back out due to the weapon design.

Otherwise, enjoy your pistols. I want one badly
