The "Widowmaker", with its range of 460m, makes it one of the deadliest sniper rifles in the galaxy. The accuracy of the weapon along with the stopping power grants her the ability to not only drop targets and keep them down, but the accuracy of it helps her keep her targets at a distance; unless of course they are unaware that she has them in the cross-hairs.
The recoil of the weapon is the only real drawback. The kick, if not properly prepared for it, can cause the shooter to to fire erratically, thus causing the weapon to either utilize a tripod or a strong shoulder stock to brace tightly against the shoulder. It is recommended that this weapon be used in conjunction with armour, allowing for less to no bruising of the shoulder.
When Sarli looked into have her weapon designed for her through Mandal Tech, several features came to mind. She knew sniper rifles, having used them on a constant basis. She wanted some that she felt would serve her the best.
The first was the weapon's shoulder stock. Measurements and a mold was made of her shoulder while wearing armour on. The idea behind this was to ensure that the weapon could be used by her only. A small compartment was added to it, and reinforced to prevent stress fractures in the stock from use and recoils. The compartment holds cleaning cloths for the lens and a small pack containing tools that could be used to make some small repairs if needed.
Next came the main rifle grip and trigger. Thinking in terms of the weapon only being employed by her, a mold, like the one done with her shoulder, was taken of her left hand and transformed into the weapon's rifle grip. The trigger chosen is a staged trigger, allowing her the options to fire one shot or a session of shots easily.
The barrel was customized to support both a tri-pod stand and a vertical forward grip. The latter makes it easier to hold and brace the weapon while shooting from a crouched or standing position. With the recoil being a flaw, every precaution was taken which led up to the tri-pod slot. Both attachments are easy to install and remove.
The greatest feature on the sniper rifle is the lens and the lens setting dial. The lens was designed to support nightvision, heat vision, and infrared vision. The lens dial feature allows her to switch between the three utilizing whatever one is required at the time. The eyepiece displays small digital numbers on the upper right side of the lens alerting her to target's ranges when in motion.
