- The S-42R 'Hush' is a multipurpose sniper rifle for use by marksmen within the First Order. Its modularity allows for the user to provide long-range fire support in the form of anti-personnel weaponry as well as an anti-light vehicle. The magnetic coils can accelerate the Ferric Tungsten round up to speeds of 2 km/s, capable of penetrating light vehicular armor with relative ease.
- The S-42R's modularity allows it to be equipped with several attachments, such as bipods for added stability, a power pack to compensate for the power needed to be utilized as an anti-vehicle rifle and targeting systems that can be plugged into compatible systems for increased accuracy/environmental factors. It can even utilize the same mount used by the FWMB-10 to become a stationary emplacement.
- Targeting systems can be plugged into compatible helmets or to a wrist-mounted computer that displays details on distance, environmental factors, fall off and marking targets on the radar for friendly units. This makes it an excellent weapon for designating targets and making calculated, accurate shots from afar.
- Rail Turret configuration which utilizes the Ferric Tungsten Rounds allows it to become a stationary rail turret capable of punching clean through mass-produced armors that are not optimized for kinetic rounds as well as light-vehicular armor.
- When deployed, the user is suspect to being stationary. The weapon is unwieldy to carry around freely and is relatively inaccurate while in motion or used without some of stability for follow-up shots.
- Low ammunition capacity is an issue for most sniper rifles, and the S-42R is no different. As a result, it is extremely detrimental to try and use it in close to mid range combat because of its lack of ammunition capacity and taking a decent amount of time to reload, moreso for the ferric tungsten rounds.
- The S-42R 'Hush' has an abysmal rate of fire due to the innate amount of heat it produces when firing. Successive shots in a short span of time tends to overheat the barrel, rendering it useless until it has cooled off completely.
DESCRIPTION
The lack of long-range weapons for personnel within the First Order prompted the FOSB Special Projects Division to come up with a solution. During a relatively short span of time for R&D as well as testing, they have come up with the S-42R 'Hush' Sniper Rifle, a multi-purpose long range rifle that offered heavy fire support from long range. The S-42R has two methods of firing, the first being that of a regular anti-personnel rifle that utilized power cells and gas cartridges like any blaster currently in production. Its barrel is specialized to exhaust heat and allow the S-42R to fire without overheating. There is a secondary barrel that is lined with a series of magnetic coils, doubling the S-42R as a handheld rail cannon that fires a ferric tungsten round at speeds which are capable of penetrating through walls, armored personnel, and lightly armored vehicles.
Personnel wielding the S-42R 'Hush' can opt for several mods to attach to the weapon; A power pack can be equipped to remove the need of having to replace the power cell, allowing the user to carry more gas cartridges in exchange for additional weight. A bipod can be equipped for additional stability and accuracy of follow-up shots; a targeting system can be hooked up to a compatible helmet or in the form of a wrist mount for additional data to increase utility and accuracy, all in exchange for more weight and limited mobility. A fully modded S-42R can turn a user into a stationary, long-range turret that is excellent for entrenched positions and providing support with the offside being that they are immobile.
The S-42R 'Hush' is typically outfitted with the same mount as the First Order's FWMB-10 Repeating Blaster, allowing it to be deployed and used for increased ranged accuracy, though its modularity allows for whatever standard issue attachments to be taken at the user's discretion. Specialized mods will require some additional fabrication in order to ensure they are properly equipped to the Hush.
