DESCRIPTION

The S1 Medical Droid is the pinnacle of medical droid engineering. A collaborative effort between a number of Polis Massan experts and the engineers of Cestus Cybernetics, the S1 is undoubtedly the highest droid of its class. The S1 comes preprogrammed with extensive knowledge of the biology of the more frequently occurring galactic species. Less frequent, non-humanoid species will need to custom tailor their S1, which can be expensive depending on what they are, but generally isn't. Due to the nature of the J2 droid brain, modifying it after purchase is rather difficult. Please have foresight when ordering these droids.

The S1 comes equipped with a variety of medical equipment that make diagnosis and treatment very easy. However, the S1 was not designed as a field medic. The S1 performs best in a non-hostile environment and with all the medical tools and assistant personnel readily available nearby. While it could arguably still do its job in dangerous settings, the S1 is expensive and so customers are urged to keep it out of the line of fire where possible.

The S1 is capable of performing surgeries encompassing a wide range of difficulties, but the success of these surgeries is less determined by the droid itself than by the quality of its work environment. Once more, an S1 performing a heart transplant in a fully staffed and supplied operating room is more likely to enjoy success than an S1 performing a tonsillectomy in the middle of a Rodian clan war. It is worthwhile to note that, unless reprogrammed by Cestus Cybernetics for specific orders, the S1 is only capable of performing medical procedures.

In order to prevent medical malpractice, all S1s are programmed to place the sanctity of life above all else and are, by default, very compassionate and abhorrent towards all forms of violence. Even with these precautions and due to the volatile nature of the J2 droid brain, frequent memory wipes are still recommended. S1s that become self-aware typically choose to remain where they are and develop personalities based on those they interact with if they are in optimal environments. S1s in low-budget, low-staff medical centers starved for supplies and with large patient influxes or field hospitals may begin to show signs of depression.

Added this to the second-to-last paragraph.
