- The harness restricted the movement of the subject's upper body thanks to a series of reinforced straps inlaid with flexisteel, and stun-shackles that are hooked to the portion of the harness wrapped around the waist.
- At the push of a button the prisoner can be subjected to varying degrees of electrical discharges ranging from a mild shock to potentially lethal levels of voltage.
- Hidden inside of the neck brace are twelve vials of a specially modified Ixetal Cilona extract that, when injected into the bloodstream, could deaden an individual to the Force for up to twelve hours.
- Restrictive Capabilities: The injections of Ixetal Cilona can impede an individual's ability to call upon the Force, putting them at the mercy of their captors. Coupled with the harnesses' ability to deliver an electrical pulse, and the restrictive nature of the device, makes it very difficult for an individual already imprisoned in the harness to escape.
- Difficulty: The harness itself is a very tricky piece of technology to strap onto a person while they are still conscious, and it is recommended that the subject in question be rendered fully unconscious before even attempting to shackle them. Not only that, but the Ixetal Cilona injectors take awhile to be refilled once they've been depleted, necessitating the wearer to again be rendered unconscious.
The Inquisition of the Old Sith Empire had developed a means to utilize Ixetal Cilona to pacify its Force sensitive prisoners, such as Jedi and Sith rogues. For years that old technology had slowly declined in use and production, with only those who had reigned during that era possessing the remaining quantity of Force Containment Collars.
One of those individuals was Kaine Zambrano, who held onto the last remaining collars so that his own scientists could manufacture a successor.
And that successor became what was known as the SA-1 Force Sensitive Restrainment Harness. No longer merely a simple collar, it had evolved into a large upper body harness that not only could deliver the same dosage as the previous collar, but also restricted movement of the arms and neck by a significant degree.
Though the harness had some difficulties in application, it was soon produced solely for the Saaraishash and the Imperial Detention Force.
