- Alternative firing mode presents wider opportunities when engaged in combat.
- Well-crafted wooden furniture.
- Side-mounted, long-eye-relief optics preserve the usability of iron sights.
- Runs on anything—while designed primarily with spin-sealed Tibanna gas in mind, it won't complain if you feed it eleton, orveth, prothium, sig, skevon, or tolium, though a certain decrease in power and end-range effectiveness will become apparent.
- Chromium-lined barrel effectively prevents corrosion.
- Dallorian alloy plating on most internal parts helps prevent overheating.
- Longshot: Owing to the high strength and velocity of the bolts it fires, the SA-35 maintains a high level of bolt cohesion out to a considerably long range; when utilizing the manual lever-action alternate fire mode, this increases yet further, in step with the extra power and blaster gas consumption consumed when using the rifle in this method.
- Deadeye: In keeping with its intent as a more long-ranged weapon, the SA-35 was also designed with the goal of preserving a high level of accuracy; among the Galidraani soldiers who have used it, it's become a common saying that "if a clean 35 doesn't land, it ain't the rifle's fault."
- Hand artillery: Activating the lever-action alternate fire mode dramatically increases the power and range of the weapon; while it is already a hard-hitting heavy blaster rifle, the increased power and blaster gas consumption of the weapon makes it hit almost as hard as many disruptors do, enabling effective anti-materiel use. Or, as was overheard by one Galidraani exile using the rifle in New Imperial service, after blasting a Sith-Imperial Legionnaire: "Like blasting mouse droids with a turbolaser!"
- Made of Steel: The SA-35 has a reputation for being extremely durable and reliable; between its ability to still effectively run on multiple different types of blaster gas, stubborn refusal to jam, and the reinforced Wroshyr wood gunstocks, the weapon is a glutton for punishment that never stops running.
- Spontaneous Dislocation: Even in normal fire, as heavy as the rifle is, it still has prodigious recoil; under alternate fire, this is increased ridiculously. Rapid-fire and quick follow up shots under the alternate fire are nigh-impossible to manage, difficult even under normal circumstances, and users of thin and small builds have been recommended to use the rifle with a cushioned butt-pad to avoid injury, especially when using the alternate fire mode.
- Slow: The alternate fire mode, relying on an intentional lever-action to operate (in order to avoid accidental usage by unfamiliar operators), coupled with internal mechanisms meant to prevent damage to the rifle, does not lend itself to rapid fire whatsoever; you're meant to make your shots count, either by familiarizing yourself with the weapon to take advantage of its accuracy, or by shooting something so large you absolutely can't miss.
- Overheating: Despite the Dallorian alloy plating on much of the SA-35's internal components, it can still be subject to overheating, especially when the alternate fire is utilized. This can have disastrous effects—while overheating under normal fire might render the weapon inoperable until repairs can be done, an overheated weapon subjected to the alternate fire is known to explosively detonate in the wielder's hands.
- Anchor: There's a lot of metal, wood, and reinforcement present in the construction of the SA-35. It is neither a light nor a small weapon by any means.
Originally designed by Stonesfield Armory for use by Galidraani security forces under the Sith Empire, the SA-35 was meant to fulfill a multi-role purpose within their ranks; a heavy-hitting battle rifle, a possible use as a DMR or sniper rifle, a simple weapon to arm auxiliaries with, and even capable of being pressed into service for anti-vehicular use, a weapon particularly suited to harsh conditions and heavy use. Owing to that, and its considerbly lower cost of manufacture than the lightweight, compact, and highly advanced blasters that more wealthy states often sought to arm their forces with, the design details and prototypes were all swiped away in an act of combined corporate espionage and pro-rebel defection.
With the necessary knowledge in hand, members of the nascent Free Galidraan Imperial State finalized the design, first putting it into production in captured facilities on the planet itself, before reaching out to their allies to increase production, owing to its great effectiveness in combat. Thus far, it has proven well-loved by the soldiers that have used it—even the normal fire is quite powerful, but the alternate firing mode's effect on personal armour has been likened to that of a "lightsaber slicing through Bantha butter."
Note: All descriptions of the weapon's effectiveness are merely flavour, or can be chalked up to in-universe marketing, rather than any claim as to its effectiveness against PCs, as per roleplay rule #5.
