Saber colors?

So for somebody like me who doesn't know that much background info on Star Wars aside from what the movies told me (And even then I don't recall everything) I don't recall what all the colors mean or how many their were. Also who picks your color? You or your master?

Green= consular(diplomacy and force usage)
Blue= Gaurdian(warrior, and focuses on saber usage)
Yellow= Sentinel(the most awesome and the best, ya can't beat it... spec ops and searches out information)

A door stands before you... do you knock politely as a consular? Slash it down like a knight, or do you take the middle ground adn pick it like a sentinel?

I see. Not really a fan of the color yellow (It ether doesn't stand out to me that much or is just ugly) but being a Sentinel sounds super awesome.

Sarge uses a silver blade - the crystal is a pearl from a Krayt Dragon he'd killed.

Saran's blade is purple. There are some obscure ones, like bronze, the aforementioned silver, or the occasional white, but most are the three @[member="Vulpesen"] mentioned. Every color can mean something, but not all are a class of Jedi. Jaina Solo was a Guardian, and her's was purple, and the same goes for Mace Windu. The argument could be made that the the color is those who are in the middle ground, between the light (blue) and the dark (red). Everything has a meaning. It just may be deeper than you look.

you can change your saber color whenever you want though. I have changed by standard blade's color more often just because flavor of the week while keeping a silver blade but I also use my fans and parasol more.

to the jedi the color of their blade has always been a personal choice. you could have a red blade, while most jedi think "oh he has a red blade he must be sith" that is not always the case. so pick what you want. blue, green, yellow, red, purple, black, silver, orange, auca it's up to you though most jedi start with blue, green, or yellow or red, because thats what the temple has on hand and the rest can be a fun personal quest
