-------
the Characteristics
Appearance: Though taller than the average Human female, Sentiri is an average height for a Chiss woman. Her eyes, skin tone, and hair, hair which is kept tightly tied back, are all unmistakably Chiss as well. Though slender, her musculature is well toned beneath whichever uniform she is required to hide behind on any given day. While she has gained an appreciation for dressing well, she can still often be found in various states of garment disarray depending on her work.

Personality (old): Sentiri is antisocial at best and arrogant at worst. She has incredibly high standards for herself that she often misplaces onto others. If she deems these others to be below her standard, she disregards them. Her snark is not of the sarcastically humorous variety. That said, she prefers to be left alone, and if her lack of tact achieves that goal faster, so be it. She greatly admires perseverance and a high work ethic while she envies those with natural-born abilities. Sentiri is incredibly diligent herself. While not emotionless, her feelings are very carefully guarded. Mostly, Sentiri ignores her inner turmoil in favor of burying herself in her work and duties.

Personality Update (post events of the Chiss Ball): Though some traits remain unchanged, Sentiri has reconciled that the trauma she experienced as a result of the events leading up to her exile as well as the time spent in exile changed her identity considerably. She now accepts that she has emotions that are often whimsical and unpredictable. Rather than quash them, she has chosen to accept them as a part of who she has become. Though still antisocial, her prickly demeanor has given way to genuine kindness towards those few she counts as friends and family. Towards everyone else, she maintains a certain frigidness, and, while capable of being outgoing on the surface, though only when she deems such openness worthy, she maintains severe barriers that guard her most precious and fragile thoughts and feelings. Sentiri, for all her newfound acceptance of these far-too-human-things called emotions, still frequently lacks tact and despite her brain's capacity for reflection, troubleshooting, and problem-solving, the words that come from her mouth frequently demonstrate her lack of a capability to filter herself or think about her snap reactions to things before speaking her mind.

Strengths and Weaknesses (old):
(+) Brighter Than a Thousand Suns: Despite Sentiri’s coldness, she has a fiery passion for self-improvement. If there is a skill that she feels she needs, she will train tirelessly until she has gained proficiency.
(+) An Eye for Detail: Nothing is beyond a level of scrutiny for this woman. She has always been a keen observer, processing every little thing that takes place around her.
(+/-) Ice Cold: Even for a Chiss, Sentiri is a cold individual. While this trait she is very capable and calm under pressure, this also manifests itself in tactless behavior.
(-) Closed Case: There was a time when Sentiri opened herself to trusting another being. After that trust was shattered, she became extremely defensive about her emotions, shutting herself off from others. Her lack of trust manifests in a fear of attachment, social advances, or openness.
(-) For Her Own Good: Sentiri doesn’t know how to stop or slow down. Her independent nature drives far past acceptable limits. She consistently gets in trouble for digging too far, learning too much, and not respecting rank.

Strengths and Weaknesses (post events of the Chiss Ball):
(+) Brighter Than Ever: Sentiri's intelligence hasn't dulled an micrometer. Her adeptness at trouble-shooting and problem-solving has direct applications to her slicing, computer maintenance, programming, and astronavigation skills among others.
(+/-) Awareness Comes with Ups and Downs: Emotions can be a complicated mess, and Sentiri's are no exception. Especially considering she has only recently gained an appreciation for their existence. While this has lead to many positive interactions with close friends, the realization comes with the awareness that she suffered significant trauma in her past and she knows that triggers exist. She actively works on them, but they will never truly go away.
(-) Never Stopped Me Before, Why Start Now?: Sentiri still listens only to her own sense of right and wrong. She frequently butts heads with superiors and opposes orders if she feels as thought a better option exists. And her penchant for the pursuit of information continues to know no limits.

the Legend
Biography: Born into the Inrokini Ruling Family, Sentiri began her life as simply “Tiri” on Csaus. Though she rarely saw her parents, both of whom held high-ranking administrative positions within the family, Tiri grew up with two other blood-related siblings: a brother named Arin and a sister named Ricsi. Both were far older than Tiri was, however, and while her siblings played a small part in raising her, Tiri never formed a particularly close bond with either. Unlike many of her species, Tir’inrokini was born into a higher echelon family without needing to prove her merit in order to be given a position of power. This was especially evident from her older siblings, neither of whom made considerable effort to excel. However, they each garnered a charismatic nature from their privileged upbringing and exposure to formal gatherings and each managed to work their way into administrative positions of their own with considerable assistance from the standing of their parents.

Tiri was vastly different from her siblings. Tiri observed the cavalier and entitled nature of her brother and sister and also observed the much more serious and hard-working nature of the working-class people that surrounded their family. She found the lack of effort disconcerting on the part of her blood-relatives, but she came to admire the Trial-born people for their dedication, drive, and cold passion. Despite this, she was expected to follow more or less in the footsteps of her family members. This did not suit Tiri and, through her formative years, she became a recluse. While her schooling excelled all expectations, her social life and attendance at formal occasions was nearly nonexistent. Instead, Tir’inrokini surrounded herself with the technology and sciences that her family had come to govern among her people.

The young girl wasn’t necessarily the fastest study, however she incorporated the dedication she had observed from Trial-born members of her House into her own practice. She pounded away at her studies, both within school and in private, with persistence and stubbornness. By the time Tiri turned fourteen, she was highly skilled in the use and construction of computers thanks to her exposure to communications, industry, and science technology. She had a decent grasp of linguistics. And she often found corollaries between her fascination with computers and the field of physics which inevitably introduced her to astronavigation.

Two events occurred when Tiri finished school that would drastically change the direction of her life. The first was an accidental exposure to slicing. She had become fully aware of coding and software while experimenting with computers on her own. Naturally, the evolution of her study brought her to hacking and rewriting code made by others, and the development of illegal programs that she would later come to know as slicing. Her first attempts were clumsy, but she improved at an extremely fast rate. Though she was ultimately discovered due to her initial failures, her skill by that time was considerable. The second was an exemplary recommendation from her professors to the Sabosen family, who governed education among the Chiss, concerning the dedication and prowess of Tiri as a student.

In combination, those events led the heads of the Sabosen and Inrokini families to a decision. Out of necessity, Tiri was to be punished for her indiscretions. But the punishment would be one that would be beneficial to the Chiss people. In order to repay her debt to society by disobeying its laws, Tiri would be sent to apply her computer skills under the supervision of the Sabosen family within the security division of their internal law enforcement unit. She received no salary until her debt was deemed paid, and her stipend only covered living expenses, nothing more. On top of that, Tiri was to be adopted by the Sabosen family as a Trial-born. If she succeeded in her duties, she would be formally accepted to the family and married accordingly.

Tiri had no choice in these matters, but she held no remorse concerning her blood relatives trading her away. If anything, she became what she admired, a Trial-born, working to prove herself in a realm she felt she was capable rather than resting on her hands and allowing society to progress around her. Instead, the maturing young woman quietly revelled in the opportunity, not viewing the sentence as a punishment at all, but as the escape from her fate that she had desired all along.

Her work, at first, was mostly nondescript. For Tiri, it was downright boring. Hardware and software maintenance was the majority of what she was tasked with. She often found herself completing her work so quickly that she was left with nothing else to do. And due to her social stature, Tiri was limited in how much access she had to any piece of technology. The situation was obvious to Tiri, that while the Sabosen’s respected her technical prowess as demonstrated through their watchful eye, they did not respect her enough to trust her. Gradually, her faith in her people as a whole began to crumble under the weight of her dissatisfaction.

Tiri’s desire to advance herself found avenues outside of technology for a time. She returned to her studies of other languages, linguistics, and their relations to various fields of mathematics. Her mind quickly made a connection between these subjects and cryptology. Even without access to a datapad or computer interface, Tiri began developing ciphers, keeping a journal using contrived methods with obscure keys. Those of the Sabosen family assigned to watching her quickly found themselves unable to translate the words she wrote or spoke and though she obviously still posed no threat, her reclusive attitude towards Chiss society at large started to come into question.

Just less than a year into her Trial, Tiri’s debt was nearly cleared. She had been keeping tabs on just how much work she was doing and what the estimated damages were that she had incurred that placed her in debt. So she was not surprised to find herself with an increased number of visitors. The technical work she had done for the Sabosen family had always been exemplary, and it was likely that they would attempt to fully adopt her into their family in order to protect such an asset. That full adoption would likely require some type of marriage, as was the way of their people. However, Tiri was not interested in idle participation. Her independence had grown significantly and her respect in her people had faltered. If anything, Tiri thought that she would simply choose a suitor who would be the least likely to concern themselves in her affairs and continue to remove herself from any social situations entirely. Left to her own desires, she could pursue whatever interests she deemed worthy of her time. Despite this, none of the men who came to visit her met Tiri’s antisocial desires. Worse, several had every intention of returning her lifestyle to the social nightmare that she had endured with her parents and siblings. In time, Tiri came to responding to all inquires with responses coded by her own devising. These would receive a chaste or nonresponse, and would hence leave Tiri be.

Unlike the rest, one suitor returned time after time. Tiri hadn’t paid him much mind the first few times. The man seemed harmless but he also seemed quite driven. While the latter was a quality that Tiri could admire, it was not one she was looking for in her dream scenario. So every time he greeted her, she would respond only in codified Cheunh. Despite numerous failures in trying to converse with Tiri, he continued to return, and eventually was the only suitor who did.

Tiri admired his persistence, even if she had no other interest in the man. He seemed harmless to her, and despite her rejections, he still came to see her, always bringing some silly trinket and a smile far warmer than the typical capability of the Chiss. He stopped asking for her hand in marriage, but never stopped coming to see her, asking how she was doing, if she needed anything. For a Chiss, Purak’lau’sabosen was a charming man.

House Sabosen continued to put off her reinstatement. The claim made by the ruling house was quite simple: Tiri had yet to “integrate” with the house and show her commitment to her new family. The obvious ploy was one that would force her into marriage. Tiri knew that she didn’t have a choice in the matter if she were to gain the independence she so desired.

Finally, after three years of being a Trial-born, Tir’inrokini married Purak’lau’sabosen. As a display of gratitude for the family’s adoption, she adopted their name in return, becoming Sabosen’tir’inrokini. Her newfound independence was rewarded with a job as a slicer and cryptologist for House Sabosen’s Internal Security Division. Though the work remained rather drab, Sentiri, as she came to proudly call herself, was tempered by two things. The first was the freedom to do as she pleased. Under the guise of working for the ISD, her pursuit of technological knowledge and function was more or less limitless.

The second thing was her growing love for Klaus, her partner. He was a teacher of history for the younger generations of Chiss society. Though a rather simple position, it was one he was passionate about, and one that he poured many hours of research into. Though he taught children, his publications on pedagogy as well as the Ascendancy’s history of external affairs were renowned. Sentiri admired her husband for these things that she previously had ignored. She had assumed that their marriage would be all business, but the charming Klaus won her over with his hard work, passion, and his devotion to her.

Several years of a happy marriage and a content profession went by without complication. Sentiri’s work began to evolve in interesting ways as she began training in field work. Soon, she was pistol proficient, simulation tested, and working with operatives in the field in a tech support role.

One of the cases assigned to Sentiri had her investigating files going in and out of House Inrokini. With involvement of the One Sith increasing in Chiss space, certain Houses were using their resources to their advantage in order to gain a better political standing among the Sith. Though technically allied, the Chiss were not the most trustworthy of sorts, and certain reactionist groups within the government wanted to keep a tight lock on any potential over-involvement from suspected Houses. Often, these acts were on the part of individuals rather than an entire House, but any kind of treason would affect a whole House’s standing regardless.

Sentiri discovered some incriminating evidence while slicing through some of those files. Col’inrokini and Mer’inrokini, Sentiri’s brother and sister, were skimming off of the top of their production lines and providing all the extras to the Sith in exchange for Imperial credits and the promise of influence within their government. Had a younger, unwed Sentiri found this evidence, she would have turned the files over to her superiors without a second thought. But with Klaus, she had begun to see value in family. Though she had been estranged from them for some time, Colin and Merin were still family.

After some careful deliberation, the agent brought her findings to her husband; unable to come to a decision concerning her findings on her own. Sentiri sought out advice from the only person she truly trusted. His advice was heartfelt, but quite unhelpful: “do what you feel is right.”

While Sentiri continued to grind her morals over the evidence presented to her, Colin and Merin discovered the tampering Sentiri had done. The two Inrokini siblings feared that their estranged sister, whom held no love for Colin and Merin the last they knew, would turn the evidence over as soon as she possible could. A few days had passed since the tampering and the siblings had yet to be questioned. That told them they still had time. From their selfish fear, they hatched a plot to turn the situation against their sister.

Klaus was contacted through discrete channels. Made clear to him was the simple truth that Colin and Merin had new friends. Sith friends: assassins, murderers, killers. If he didn’t comply with their demands, both he and Sentiri would be in danger from these dangerous friends.

Klaus was a simple man. He didn’t know if any of this was true or not. He only knew that Sentiri’s family held power. It sounded plausible enough to him. So he acquiesced. At the orders of Colin and Merin, Klaus informed an ISD official that Sentiri had planted evidence to incriminate her brother and sister. Without knowledge of any plotting behind her back, Sentiri was arrested for fraud and the provocation of civil unrest. The trial was brief, and Colin and Merin both brought additional evidence and character witness to bare. She was deemed dangerous to Chiss society and exiled. Her husband never had the chance to see Sentiri through the entire process, the Inrokini siblings made sure of that.

A Sith-aligned vessel would take Sentiri away from the Ascendancy. Implications were made to Klaus that Colin and Merin couldn’t afford to take any chances, and that ship was leading Sentiri to her death. In grief and shame, he would take his own life. But that news would never reach Sentiri’s ear. Every connection she ever felt for had betrayed her. She vowed never to make that mistake again. Her first step was to cut all ties with the Chiss, the exile just made that part simple.
She had no particular love for the One Sith. Sentiri had no particular love for anyone. For a while, the woman hopped from world to world, picking up odd jobs here and there as she went. Never staying long enough to be missed when she left. Or miss anything herself. Eventually she made her way to the First Order, where the promise of a uniform gave her a platform to return her to a job she had once coveted.

Autobiographical Record

I'll keep this brief. Anyone reading this with prior knowledge of me will appreciate how true to character my brevity is.
The First Order turned out to be a good home, for what that sentiment is worth. At first, my involvement was simple. I spied, I sliced, I had a certain level of autonomy. Then I got in over my head. That was a surprise. Improving oneself is a quintessential Chiss quality. So are loyalty, duty, and working overtime (or extra credit as the colloquialism went as spoken by some of my former human compatriots). Within a brief amount of time, I climbed the ranks from Agent to Interim Director. The experience was invaluable. But I was unprepared.
So what did I do? I ran away. Inglorious. I covered up running away by trying to do something more akin to my skill set. I tried to take over a criminal organization; using my underhanded techniques to garner power behind the scenes. That was far more appropriate to who I am. But not having a larger organization above me left me with a sense of dissatisfaction. No one to please, I guess. Or perhaps I had no one to gauge my progress.
And so, my ever-present need to improve suddenly led me back to the Ascendancy.
