Sabotage on Mon Cala

Mon Cala, a world renowned for its underwater cities and shipyards, now endures the harsh rule of the Empire of the Lost. The once vibrant society of the Mon Calamari and Quarren is stifled by the Empire's oppressive regime, marked by heavy surveillance, martial law, and exploitation of the planet. Despite the grim situation, resistance movements continue to fight for their freedom, holding onto the hope of liberation.

Braze and Balun Vale plot to disrupt the Empire's stranglehold on Mon Cala. They aim to steal an Empire vessel or destroy critical military installations, igniting chaos and giving hope to the oppressed locals.

---

Braze leaned against the rusty railing of the abandoned platform, the distant hum of Empire vessels patrolling Mon Cala's skies resonating through the mist. He turned to Balun Vale, a mischievous glint in his eyes.

"Balun, we've got a chance here. The Empire's got this place on lockdown, but that just means more opportunities for us. How about we stir things up a bit? Maybe snag one of their ships, or even better, blow a few out of the water. Think you're up for causing some trouble?"

Balun's Master was Julius Sedaire Julius Sedaire , an old war veteran renowned for disrupting oppressive Sith-imperial forces that sought to destabilise the Galactic Republic's democratic reign over the Galaxy in his time. The young man had heard rumours since Julius had taken him on as his Apprentice, actively seeking out more knowledge of his retired Master, a warrior of old; Balun felt like he had to earn the right to truly feel worthy of the man's tutelage. What better way to achieve this than by attempting to hit back at the Imps of today's age?

"Well, we're here aren't we?" Balun answered, turning to glance at Braze Braze . The two hadn't worked together like this before, not one-on-one. He couldn't help but be curious to see how they complimented each other's skills in the field and compensated for their flaws or shortcomings. "The Mon Calamari are famous for their naval engineering, and the Imps here could do some real damage with those ships out there. As if the Imperial Fleet isn't frightening enough, I think we best try and do as much damage as possible. At the same time, we've still got the element of surprise," he agreed, turning back to look across the surface of the unending ocean to the vessels that patrolled for any sign of threat or intrusion.

"I hope you don't mind, but I figured we could use a little extra help getting this done," Balun added, his right hand drawing the bag strap down from his shoulder. He turned to face his teammate fully this time, opening the backpack to reveal several high-end Explosive Charges that he had managed to liberate from his Master's former ownership; "I don't suppose you've used these things before have you?" he asked, having no experience himself but having grabbed them on his way out, seeing the appeal in the potential chaos they could create.

Working with the Alliance. Working with the Jetii no less. The high profile contract that the alor was looking for. Was it going to work out the way he'd hoped? She didn't shabla know, and she sure as haran wasn't being payed to care nor was her opinion being asked regardless. Still, the few scant moments of calm before they actually deployed were often stimulus for thoughts like this that had the good graces to stay out of her conscious mind at other times.

These were exactly the kinds of jobs that Davaab squad was meant for. It helped that their targets were some Imps that were proving to be more problematic than ignoring them was worth. She didn't quite know what their deal was and the truth was that she didn't really care. They walked like Imps, talked like Imps and did what the shab they liked just like Imps. If someone was going to pay her and hers credits to ruin their day, who was she to argue?

"So we're working with Jetii now?" grunted Jaing Nihut'tyr, her squad's technician, in the disinterested, dismissive, yet displeased manner that only Nihut'tyrs seemed to be able to.

"I hate to break it to you, vod, but we've been working with Jetii ever since we worked with the Knights Obsidian," said Viraen Kyrdol, her squad's secondary marksman with an amused snort.

"Not the same Jetii," grumbled Jaing back. Jaing was of course referring to the infamous Jedi who committed some less than savory actions during the whole Hyperspace War mess. Not that any of their hands were clean, but they didn't have any illusions about that.

"Nor are these the same Jetii we're used to, vod," reasoned Ran Netra, her 2IC. Ran made a good point, this new generation of Jedi seemed different on casual inspection. Maybe they'd have a better idea after this operation. The fact that they'd reached out at all was progress as far as she was concerned.

"Since when do you say 'no' to blowing osik up, Jaing?" she asked, an amused but quizzical expression on her face under her buy'ce. Nihut'tyrs were not usually ones to back down from a fight, on the contrary, the usually were the ones starting them and Jaing was no exception.

"I don't, alor, just don't like the idea of being on a Jetii-led black op," explained Jaing with a sigh. She could empathize with Jaing's point of view. Jetii and black ops tended not to go well, not unless they were one of those specialized Shadows or whatever they were called and even then she'd prefer not to.

"They're not leading it, they just wanted us to help ruin the day of some Imp shabuire, that's all, so udesii, vod," she said, looking from Jaing to the holographic display of the view from outside the gunship. "Rav, din'kartay?" she asked over the intercom.

"Two minutes to drop zone. They haven't picked us up, yet," calmly replied Rav Kote, Galaar 1-1's pilot. Their gunship was equipped with some of the best stealth tech built and Rav was easily one of the best pilots that she'd had the pleasure of serving with. She very much doubted that they had anything that'd be able to pick up and track their gunship with both the camouflage systems and passive electronic warfare suite active.

Saram nodded to herself and then quickly sent off an encrypted tightbeam to their employer, "Al'verde Saram Kote, Davaab squad lead here, we're 2 minutes out. Are you kicking this off or are we?"

Braze brightened up at what he saw when he peered in, a devious little grin splaying across hsi visage. "I think we can put them to good use," he said, carefully inspecting the device before explaining how to arm it. "That's fine. I brought along some help myself. The plan's simple: our eye in the sky will draw first blood, creating the initial havoc. Concurrently, we board their vessel and hijack it—perfect for sowing chaos in their ranks. They won't see it coming. We'll take their junker for a ride."

As the radio chirped, Braze responded, "Alpha Team stationed and ready. On your go, light them up with a 'goodnight' strike, then we make our move."

He pointed towards a heavy cruiser looming in the distance and laid out the specifics, "That's our target. Objective: board and take control of the bridge. Maintain stealth, delay detection as long as possible to maximize the surprise effect."

The team's plan was set in motion. Overwatch prepared for their diversionary strike, while Alpha Team, readied for infiltration. The heavy cruiser loomed in the distance, a prime target for their mission. As they moved into position, Braze's voice came over the radio once more,

"Overwatch, this is Alpha Team. We're green and ready to move. Initiate the diversion," He flashed a smirk to Balun Dashiell Balun Dashiell "Show time~"

Looking skyward, Balun squinted a little to narrow his view around the Cruiser that Braze Braze had nominated as their objective. "How many have we got on the other team?" he asked as he studied the vessel from afar, "A bridge that size is going to take more than two of us. Maybe holding the crew will force them to fly it for us, but if they call our bluff, I'm not going to kill them, and I highly doubt the Jedi would approve of you doing so," he explained. Balun wasn't with the New Jedi Order, nor any Order for that matter, unless Julius still counted himself a member, but that would've been news to him.

Balun wondered who Braze's other contacts were. How equipped were they to deal with a situation like this? Hell, Balun had to question his readiness for such an assignment, yet he was determined to go the distance to make a name for himself. This Resolve-Class Cruiser no doubt had some mental armaments, the capability to do real damage as Braze had suggested. Suppose they did manage to get close enough to the bridge without raising the alarm. In that case, their newly acquired starship might even survive such a feat of subterfuge along with the element of surprise and the diversion from the secondary team.

"So our guys attack, we draw the attention of that patrol craft, and then fly up and board the cruiser," he soon asked as the pair stood upon the abandoned platform riding the waves of the world ocean; "Sounds great. What could go wrong?" he concluded with no small tone of sarcasm escaping his voice. That said, Balun hadn't come up with any better ideas.

Braze offered a coy smirk. "You've never been on a mission with me, then. We don't have to kill anyone; we can knock them out. It's usually pretty easy," he chirped. "My favorite trick is to turn the safeties on all their blasters with telekinesis. Always a fun bit of chaos."

He paused, considering his next words. "The Night Hunters are a squad of Mandalorian Commandos. So we're looking at least four, maybe up to ten."

His expression grew more serious. "At the end of the day, most of the people working for the Empire do so by choice. They signed up for the military, knowing they'd be oppressing civilian populations. They knew the risks when they signed on."

The last time she had been here, she had helped drop a star destroyer out of orbit. Now, she planned to do the same once more.

It was nostalgic, seeing Dac once more in the bridge window of the Tenacity. She looked to her astromech, D1-C3 with a smirk. "You ready old friend?"

<I plan to make our old friend proud.>

"Perfect." Jonyna smirked as they came into view. Parking with their stealth systems on just out of orbit, Jonyna left the ship to the droid brains that commanded it.

tmiiNVx.png

Dressed in stormtrooper armor that she had stolen long ago, she walked with a purpose, like she needed to be somewhere. It was a wonder how much you could get by just by walking like you had to be somewhere. AS they approached the target, a Zelleon Class that had been parked for repairs after the siege of Mon Cala itself, Jonyna stopped in front of a small security detail.

"Reporting. Got this droid they're requesting on the bridge. Mind escorting it for me? I gotta be elsewhere on the double."

The two stormtroopers looked around. "...just the droid?"

"Yup. They got a problem up on the bridge, some subsystem issue. Look, you gonna breath down my neck or get it done? I gotta get to the other ship across the yard with supply crates for the crew in an hour."

"Alright, alright."
The stormtroopers waved. They didn't want to get in trouble either. "But you owe us."

"I'll pay your bar tab next time we're on leave." She waved off. The troopers looked excited at that.

"Chit, alright. One droid to the bridge."

tmiiNVx.png
D1-C3 happily followed the stormtroopers up to the bridge. No one questioned droids, because they weren't seen as people.

The bridge was quiet, as with the ship under repairs, most of the officers were off duty, or elsewhere, like the dealing with the current Sith Invasion. It left the ship unguarded, perfect for what the droid wanted to do. Splicing into the nearest bridge terminal, the droid prepped a simple bit of code.

The next time the ship's crew would prep the weapons to fire, they'd find themselves with a program that wouldn't be able to close, and would simply replicate itself into infinity. Unless the ship's computers were hard reset, the computers for the targetting of the ship's weapons would be dead in the water...

"Mandalorian Commando's working with the New Jedi Order, huh?" Balun spoke rhetorically, more voicing the prospect aloud for his consideration. From what he had heard, Mandalorians had a mixed view of Jedi, and he had never worked with them. However, Balun wasn't exactly a steward of the Galactic Alliance anymore. At least not on official documentation or record. Despite the muddied history between Mandalorian and Jedi relations, Balun was educated enough to know they were among the top-tier combatants of the Galaxy's most lethal; "I guess that's to our advantage then".

"Trust me, I've got no worries about messing with Imperials" he replied. "Killing people, yeah, sure. If it can be avoided; but roughing them up is a different story. Nothing pain relief and a few days rest won't fix". Balun hadn't yet been forced to take someone's life, and he'd much rather keep things that way; however, getting into a scrap for the sake of their objective was something he was all too happy to do. After all, he needed the experience and the success of this mission would do well to elevate his name above that of a mere vagabond.

"So...-What're we waiting for?" Balun asked, soon glancing at the nearby patrol ship flying over the ocean's surface, scanning the various platforms for any sign of unwanted company. Balun would reach for his Lightsaber, removing it from the magna-lock plate at the right side of his belt. He didn't ignite the weapon, yet simply drawing the hilt would show his readiness to begin.

"Thought you'd never ask," responded Saram with a smile flickering across her features as she changed channels back to the gunship's intercom. "Alright, Rav, safeties off, tra'cyar mav!" Their target, the distraction, was a Resurgence-class Battlecruiser. Her best guess was that it was stationed here to aid in defending against a possible attack by the Sith or the Alliance. Protectors intel had counted the ship among the planet's garrison forces as well in the attack that had been considered by the Warmarshal. She had picked it precisely because it was the kind of ship that would be missed.

"Music to my ears!" exclaimed Rav. "Brace for maneuvering." Saram felt the deck vibrate under her feet, the gunship's ordnance launchers discharging a quartet of T'barsr-B at their target, all submunitions directed at the ship's bridge. With the low-profile missiles there were bound to be leakers, but they were unlikely to punch through the ship's shields. That was not the intention however. The intention was to draw attention to the ship, and the presence of a stealth ship, which would ideally draw attention away from their boarding attempt and that of the two Jetii.

The gunship violently rolled, taxing its dampeners and imparting some manner of Gs on its passengers as Rav likely pulled the gunship rolled away from the missiles she'd just launched, making for the enemy battlecruiser's flank. "Alright, get your verd'kebise sorted, vode," said Saram as she pulled her rifle from stowage and checked it over one last time, with each and every member of Davaab squad doing the same. They were all carrying extra explosives. With precious little intel on what kind of reactor was on board the ship, she was taking no chances.

"We're locked," came Rav's voice over the intercom. The indicator lights of the ventral docking collar on the gunship flashed red, confirming that the collar's plasma torch was doing its job. It took the device some time, but eventually it did cut through and make a seal. The indicator status light changed green right as Rav wished them, "Oya shabla Manda, vode. Get some for me."

"Thought hadn't crossed our minds not to, Rav," quickly fired back Viraen as he took up breaching position with the rest of the squad. Saram heard Rav chuckle in response over the intercom in response. She waited for acknowledgement lights from Ran and Jaing before she hit the release and let the door open. The two of them took point, stepping onto the ship first with armor stealth systems fully active. If not for the stealth detection and IFF tracking systems on her own armor highlighting their outlines, she certainly wouldn't have been able to see them either.

"Utre'la," called Ran over comms. The rest of the squad quickly followed suit. Anila, her squad's primary explosives expert, didn't need to be told twice. She quickly moved a few paces ahead of their entrance as Saram sealed it behind them and placed down a pair of AP Micromines. The squad wordlessly spread out into combat spacing as they pushed out toward their objective: the ship's main reactor.

Saram quickly raised Rav, "Galaar 1-1, this is Davaab 6, phase one complete." Knowing Rav would take that as her signal to put some distance till they needed an extraction, Saram didn't wait for her response before she switched back to the channel she shared with the two Jetii, her armor's comm suite bouncing off of the gunship's for range, "That should earn you a window. If not, what we're about to do certainly shabla will. Good luck down there." With that, she returned her attention to the task at hand, weapon up and ready for the security response they all knew was coming.

"Alpha Team moving out," Braze confirmed, signaling the start of their operation. He led his team mate towards the target cruiser, their steps careful and silent on the platform's metal grating.

Reaching the ship, they used grappling hooks to ascend its hull, finding a maintenance hatch just below the bridge. Braze quickly disabled the security panel using a slicing tool, and the hatch hissed open. They slipped inside, the dimly lit corridor ahead providing just enough cover to remain undetected.

Inside, they moved swiftly through the narrow passages, evading patrols and automated systems. Braze's moved to placed small charges on key security nodes, ensuring their movements remained undetected. Approaching the bridge access door, Braze used the Force to manipulate the locking mechanism, silently sliding the door open.

Um9wLtZ.png

With a quiet whir, D1-C3 exited the ship with a happy little beep, meeting back up with his comrade. From the sounds of it, the rest of the strike team were quick at work.

Jonyna considered something. The idea was crazy. Something she'd have come up with in her youth. But...it could work. The platforms, the shipyards they had been raiding, were set up much like those of Kamino. A forward platform that accessed a massive underwater network.

If they could cut off the platform itself...

"Dice, send a message to everyone else. I have an idea."

Braze addressed Jonyna Si with a calm determination. "You have my attention, Jonyna . We're going to move to the bridge," he said confidently. "It looks like there isn't going to be much pushback. It seems we've caught them slacking."

With a sense of assurance, the team advanced through the vessel's corridors. So far, there was no resistance to slow them down, allowing them to proceed smoothly toward their goal. The element of surprise was working in their favor, and the path to the bridge remained clear.
