Corran Conner
Insufferable Genius
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
It began as a passing comment in the lounge of the Laughing Dragon. The Donna had dismissively made an off-hand comment about the effects of turning a lightsabre crystal into a potent drug, and mused on the effects thereof. However, Corran, ever too smart for his own good, had latched onto the idea. What if…? What if it could be done? Never to turn down a challenge, the Donna’s newest doctor had taken it upon himself to develop such a drug. Of course, just as a magician never reveals his secret, the Gurlanin genius will take the secret of sabre dust’s formula to his grave.
Of course, he says that the attunement to the force that the drug provides was his intended design all along, even as Ahtemis suspects he stumbled upon the effect by accident. Under a controlled test, subjects had shown quite a potency with their force powers. It was this dangerous power, along with the dangerous side effects (including death) that caused this drug to be immediately and officially outlawed.
However, somehow, the drug made its way to the streets, then to the stations, then to the hyperspace lanes. Some people say that the formula was stolen from Corran’s desk. Others suspect that the Donna herself sanctioned its release to the public, using it as a form of control. And it formed one of the many reasons The Family was first broken apart.
However Corran was never found by the security forces, keeping to the shadows he allowed the formula of the product to slip in order to throw them off his shadows. As such it became wide spread and known by many criminal groups. He has thought about reclaiming the formula and returning it to the new version of The Family, however his paranoia has kept him from doing this so far just in case the same thing happens again.

- Canon Link: N/A
- Permissions: N/A
- Primary Source: N/A
- Name: Sabre dust, known also as “dust”, “sparkle” or “sand”
- Manufacturer: Corran Conner (Creator), Various Criminal Organizations
- Affiliation: Various Criminal Organizations
- Market Status: Open-Market
- Modularity: Synthetic Crystals can be used in the making process or other crystals to create different highs depending on the crystals normal effects. The other drugs in it can also be changed for whatever is easily available to the maker.
- Production: Mass-Produced
- Legal Status: Not legal anywhere
- Material: Kyber Crystals, Other drugs.
- Classification: Drug
- Method of Consumption: Orally, Inhalation
- Average Life: 2 hours
- Nutritional Value/Allergies/Side Effects/ Purpose: Those whom are sensitive to the force will find their powers greatly amplified for the time the drug is in their system. If taken by a non-force user, dust can induce vivid, intense visual hallucinations, that users are often convinced are visions of another time or place. Known side effects from sabre dust can include intense addiction, headaches, muscle fatigue, and heart palpitations as the body is forced into a level of power it’s unaccustomed to. More severe side effects can potentially include seizures, hallucinations, panic attacks and paranoia.
- Amplifies the sensitivity of a force user
- Grants intense visions to non-force users
- There is no de-sensitivity or known degradation of the drug when used over time; its effects will always be as potent as the first use.
- By the Power of the Force: Sabre dust, being derived from the crystals of the legendary lightsabres of the Sith and the Jedi, has the uncanny ability to bolster the user’s own connection to the force. When taken, this drug will amplify one’s ability within the force, allowing them to push harder, jump higher, endure longer.
- Did you see that?: If taken by a non-force user, dust can grant a person intense and vivid hallucinations. Due to the nature of its derivatives, some believe the force grants these visions. However, it is also known to induce paranoia, and such theories ought to be heeded with that taken into account
- Chasing a High: Sabre dust heavily affects the brain in several areas, including the addiction centre. Arguably one of the most addictive substances in the galaxy, its high and abilities come at a heavy cost. It takes only a single hit to risk addiction, which is recorded to be upwards of 99.3% of known users. Once hooked, it is incredibly difficult to quit, with fewer than 3% of recorded rehab patients successfully getting clean.
- Volatile: Dust must be taken in very carefully measured doses. Being extremely potent, it’s incredibly to overdose. Overdosing can induce symptoms just as panic attacks, paranoia, as well as vomiting, seizures, and ultimately: death. Overdosing can also be known as “wearing the sparkle”, due to sufferers breaking out in a sweat that actually glitters as their body tries to rid itself of the drug
- Only the Pure: As will all rare drugs, manufacturers will often cut sabre dust with other substances to stretch their supply further. While pure sabre dust is incredibly potent, versions that have been cut and diluted and sold off as the real deal are all too common.
