DESCRIPTION |
Be it securing a system from minor issues such as piracy, or escorting a vast flotilla of supplies to the front, the need for sturdy and capable vessels is also a priority. The Sacheen-class was designed to provide the additional support that many formations require and may have been lacking due to the unavailability of such specialized vessels or those designed for the task at hand. With a focus on heavier armaments, the vessel has sacrificed its hangar capacity as it is only capable of supporting a singular squadron, often requiring the support of a dedicated carrier or assigned Squadrons for further assistance. The Sacheen-class was not designed to excel in any singular or secondary attribute, with its overall design being one of simplicity and to produce a vessel that could be rapidly manufactured and deployed in short order. Its low profile cross-section remains its greatest strength, as it is often difficult, though not impossible, to detect on standard scanners and sensors. Its heavier armament also ensures that it is capable of engaging larger vessels, or providing additional support to fleet formations when required. The most common use of these vessels is to be deployed alongside the Hajen-class as a dedicated Escort or to be deployed in systems in groups as a patrol. With the Galactic Alliance finding itself once more facing an onslaught from a litany of enemies, the need for vessels that can be easily and rapidly produced is important. This has been accomplished with a simple design, and the basic hull and systems of the Sacheen-class are also utilized in the production of the Hajen-class in an embrace of efficiency. Given time, even with its minimal strengths and despite its drawbacks, the Sacheen-class will prove to be a boon to the expanding manifest of vessels deployed by the Galactic Alliance. |
