Salme is a fit young female human with dark skin and long almost black hair. Naturally wavy, her hair is most often kept in a series of tight braids. Most often she is seen in her favorite black jacket, dark colored pants and a yellow shirt. When expecting combat she has old family armor that she wears.

Salme is the first born child of a young pirate couple, who upon hearing they were having a child worked to get out of that life to keep the child safe. Though Salme was born on Nar Shaddaa she was raised on Kolthis among the Bothan people. Her godfather, then leader of the pirate group that employed her parents, was much more than a pirate. He had been something in one of the recently disbanded empires. Captain Rimmer had contacts among the Bothans and managed to set up Salme’s parents with good jobs on Kolthis in order to keep their new family safe from the risks of an outlaw lifestyle. Life was good for Salme as a child. A couple years after her birth came a younger brother, then a couple years after that a sister. The three Jatry children were not spoiled, but they didn’t want for attention or love. All was going well for the whole family until Salme was 17, her brother Redar was 14 and excelling at math and engineering. Her sister Palea was 11 and a music prodigy. Salme was a solid passing student, and by some extent an excellent athlete, but she lacked drive for either endeavor. She always thought about the stars.
It was around that time that Salme’s parents got a message that the Rimmers, Salme’s godparents, had become ill. Baik was able to keep the disease at bay, but his wife had died. The Jatry family attended the funeral and that was when Salme met Vinis Rimmer, her godbrother and new leader of the pirates her parents used to follow. Salme decided she was going to be a pilot too. She joined the Kolthis cadet program in order to get flight training and as soon as she was legal, Salme bolted to Nar Shaddaa and tracked down the pirates to follow in her parents’ footsteps.
