STRENGTHS
- Venerable materials used to construct the vessel have retained their strength over the eons
- Unrepaired holes in the ship's hull serve as makeshift additional hangar space
- Black market systems utilize unconventional designs, making the ship less vulnerable to standard attacks
- Mirage Suite and Anti-Ion Emissions make the ship difficult to detect and track
- Shields may fluctuate in strength in various parts of the vessel
- Hull is still pockmarked with holes in places, weakening the superstructure
- Adapting alien systems to modern controls has made them less reliable
- Ancient hyperdrive is unreliable, may vary between an equivalent of Class 8 and Class 14
- Life support systems are imperfect, air quality in some of the newer internal additions is not great due to compatibility with ancient designs
This ancient warship was once a functioning member of some defunct empire's navy. No doubt, it once served as a vessel of power and intimidation just by its sheer size alone, using materials that were built to last. On its final mission, according to logs able to be recovered in the ship's data stores, the vessel was transporting dangerous merchandise that required elevated security protocols. Contained within that merchandise were live alien creatures, one of which managed to escape containment and threatened the entire vessel. Events transpired following the escape which led to the warship becoming trapped within the upper atmosphere of a gas giant in the Genon system, until it was discovered again in the modern era. Eventually, information on its whereabouts was obtained by Darkwire, who sent two expeditions in order to secure the ship for themselves.
Rescued from the gas giant and rid of its monster infestation, the former derelict was moved to a secret location known only to a few Darkwire insiders. There, through both legitimate and illicit means, the ship underwent repairs and upgrades to make it spaceworthy. Most of the original systems were retained, with modern interfaces attached, while new systems were added to keep the vessel from being easily discovered and detected. Since Darkwire does not always operate within normal confines of the law, stealth or duplicity is paramount.
For now, the ship acts as a sort of local command center for Darkwire operations in space. It may eventually be brought to bear against CorpSec patrols, or the vessels of the DireX themselves.
The original interior of the ship was of a military-style vessel. As much of it was compromised during its derelict years, the work put in to repair the ship has also gone towards redesigning the interior. While its main passageways, and core facilities like the bridge, the original hangar space, and engineering compartments are largely unchanged, the rest is designed for Darkwire's Shadowrunners, as well as their friends and allies.
New elements added by Darkwire, for both comfort and logistics, include:
Starbird Saloon (Starboard-side tavern)
Port Pub
Tech Workshop
The Droid-Kay Corral
Weapons Lab/Testing Rooms
Frankie's Parlor (Fighting Ring)
Bodylass Mobile (tattoo and cybernetic mod shop)
