Location - No named planet

Richard stood in the communication room of the DC Mining Corporation's lead scientist ship, they were researching their home system and nearby systems and found this undiscovered planet from the first look at the scanners. But it does seem to have some signs of a rare resource a couple hundred feet below the surface in a couple places. The planet itself was very small compared to average size planets, the air was toxic, the sun was somewhat far away from the planet making the planet temperature very cold.

Richard exited the communication room making his way across the ship to the bridge, he could see the planet closer it had some water mostly land, but it was also very humid it was cold and the ground was very solid from being cold. A weird planet for sure but an anomaly for sure that needs to be researched and studied before deciding if it has any resources, dangers, or life.

They opened the inner door of the airlock stepping inside with the suits that protect them from the cold and hazardous air quality. They locked the door and sealed it allowing the team to open the outside door of the airlock and exit the ship, the soil reading showed it was very poor in nutrients. This explains the lack abundant plant life added with fact that the sun is further away so less sunlight for the plant's food. It took about 35 minutes for them to find some life, they found no sign of life on the ground but found that a few species of birds are native to this planet.

The team continued their search they had roughly 55 minutes of air left before they need to return and resupply, they scanned the ground and flora nothing all that interesting and no life signs. They discovered a small lake with several species of bugs and freshwater mussels, they took water samples for further analysis later.

The searched the rest of the lake finding some algae in the lake and wild vegetables in the field 1 click East, the rest of the search was uneventful more flora was found but sadly no fauna as far as mammals go. The team's air was low so they fired up the ship and took off to pick the team up because walking back would take longer than they had left. Once aboard the ship the team went over all the data they had compiled along with samples such as gravel, dirt, rocks, mussels, algae, water, etc.


The team refilled the air tanks and marked the general location on the holomap, the started a course to fly 1/4 around the planet to set up another search point. This made sure that they had access to different parts of the planet allowing them to understand it better since it's near their homeworld.
