History:
Sashimi are a species of fish native to Argyra IV. The species is considered highly intelligent for a fish and is often kept as a pet by Mon Calamari, who typically find the creature to be 'adorable.' Its intelligence is equated to being similar to that of a well trained dog, as Sashimi are often capable of solving simple puzzles or mazes and enjoy playing games with their owners. As a schooling species, Sashimi are quite affectionate towards their owners, for a fish anyway.

In the wild, Sashimi form large schools and use their numbers and intelligence to avoid predators. When encountering a predator, the school of fish with pack tightly against one another so that they appear to be a single, massive creature. If this does not deter the predator from eating them, Sashimi will eventually spread out and scatter to escape the predator.

In a remarkable behavior for a wild animal, particularly for a fish, old or injured Sashimi will actually swim directly towards a predator threatening the school. They will still attempt to evade being consumed, but often become the sole focus of the predator's attention. This behavior often allows a larger number of Sashimi to flee while the old and wounded are consumed after distracting the predator.

This behavior is one of the only documented cases of self sacrifice from a species that is not fully sentient.

I apologize for the wait! This submission is UNDER REVIEW, and you will be tagged by myself or another Codex judge when one of two things happens:

1) There are edits being requested.

2) There are no (further) edits required.

Thank you for your patience. :)

Sorry, your post was confusing. It looked like you had made a placeholder stamp... come up with an idea for an edit to request... then decided that it was fine and edited the post.

Okay, fish. Mm, fish. Yum. Anyway... much like the other two submissions you have in this section of the Codex at this time, you have set natural predation as a weakness. Please find something else. If you have trouble finding something else, please ask. I'll be glad to help. :)

...isn't this species semi-sentient?

What I mean is you state that this fish is semi-sentient, then go on to say that the self-sacrifice the elder sashimi perform is one of the only documented cases of non-sentient self-sacrifice, when the species is not non-sentient. It's an inconsistency. Basically, just change the wording from 'non-sentient' to 'semi-sentient' in that sentence, and it'll be good.

Bwahaha. Always good when a submission makes me laugh, a little. The 'weaknesses' are now acceptable. :)
