- Portable Shielding: Designed with protection in mind. The robust vest is thick, heavy but has its own built in power supply and shield projectors making a multilayered bubble
- Laminanium: Designed like a Quellian ship the hull of the orbital platforms has a thin layer of the material to improve repairs and over time depending on the amount of damage it is able to patch itself up.
- Built in power source: Designed with its own internal power source that is long lasting but it is largely able to power the armor and systems of the vehicle but when damaged it is highly explosive.
- Self Repairing: Built with a protective layer to patch the vehicle in the event of damage. The time table is dependent upon the amount of damage with smaller tears being easier and faster to repair then gashes which can take hours to reform.
- Note: Only the layer can repair not the full plate armor itself the plating can be damaged still but the underlayer of Laminanium can reform and remain.
- Weight: Heavy, the vest is designed to hold shielding and back up systems and is heavy making it harder to have agility or speed.

Designed like old model Droideka's, the Sasu shielding system is heavy but powerful with shielding projectors laid out in an overlapping pattern over the surface and being fed via internal power source and cables. The results are hexigonal bubbled shields in layered support that overlaps when activated. The shield is meant to be unidirectional letting energy and kinetic attacks pass through from the interior much like the droideka's shields did but the additional systems add heavy weight to the vest.
The vest itself not very protective on its own but enough to keep the internal systems functioning. The overlapping shields in layers using resonance designs from attacks to keep them up and strong for longer periods of time. The back up system is designed to reset and bring back up a layer of shielding quickly after it has been dropped.
Improvements to Atrisian and Sasori shielding technologies saw the heavy units equipment upgraded. With better power management allowing for longer uses, improved systems to reinforce it and create a back up the heavy troopers are skilled and able to take a position within an area like a force of nature as opposed to needing cover.
