From a young age, Saul had been schooled on the many aspects of combat during his time as a Padawan under the New Jedi Order. During his lightsaber training sessions he particularly favored the adaptability of the Niman style, or perhaps more accurately, the Niman mindset. With the permission of his Master, Sergus Diatores, Saul enlisted as a Jedi auxiliary within the Galactic Alliance military. He excelled through basic training and officer training school, and was soon offered the chance to train as a special forces operator. This collective military experience makes Saul an exceptional ground forces commander, although his experience with operations larger than a few squads are limited. He is an exceptional marksman and is also qualified to operate most single pilot Alliance vehicles. However, learning these skills took up the time when most Padawans are honing their fine lightsaber skills and control of their Force powers. Consequently, Saul is considered a below average swordsman at best, and his Force abilities are of a similar quality.
--- Items and Equipment ---
Saul's lightsaber emits the yellow colored blade traditionally associated with the Jedi Sentinels. The hilt is of a plain construction, the only features of note being a rubberized grip and a clip allowing the saber to be attached to standard issue armor webbing. The weapon is only rarely used, seeing it as ineffectual and more than a little barbaric. His C-31 Rifle is a standard issue modal, and extremely modular, usually customized to suit the needs of the mission at hand. A standard projectile pistol is also kept on hand as a backup ranged weapon. His armor is every bit as modular as his carbine, if not more so. A combination of removable plates and equipment mounting hardpoints can make the suit range from a simple underlayer or fully armored battle plate with communications and command and control equipment, depending on the needs of the mission. The ensemble is then typically topped off with a simple camouflage hooded cloak and face wrap. Saul has no personal ship of his own, instead requisitioning what he requires from the Galactic Alliance.
--- Biography ---
A military brat, Saul Perth is the son of a pair of Galactic Alliance soldiers. Wilbert, a drill sergeant, and Diana, in the medical corps. He recalls very little of them from that time, due to being noticed early as a Force Sensitive by a Jedi auxiliary who had worked with his mother. When informed of their son's gift, both parents excitedly allowed Saul to be trained in the ways of the Force.
There was no grand temple for Saul, as the vast majority of his learning happened on the various warships his Master, Sergus Diatores accompanied. Contact with his parents was fairly limited, the sheer distance alone was complicated enough, let alone the constantly shifting deployments. What messages he managed to receive were full of hopeful encouragement, furthering Saul's drive to make a difference in the galaxy.
As his Padawan training neared completion, Saul asked Master Diatores for permission to put his Jedi training on hold and enlist to learn the skills of a soldier. Seeing that this would be an excellent addition to the path of the Sentinel the young man was on, Diatores agreed and arranged for Saul to attend not only basic training, but special operatives training and officer training school as well.
Master Diatores served in honored attendance to Saul's OTS graduation ceremony, and upon it's completion informed him that he had considered this the final stage of his time as a Padawan, and officially promoted Saul to a Jedi Sentinel. As the two men parted ways, Saul was firmly struck with a belief that they would meet again, although that time has not yet come.
Currently, Saul serves the Alliance as something of a floating asset, shifting from assignment to assignment wherever his skills are needed. Often, he serves as the leader of a small strike team, or as an asset in another. More rarely, he is assigned temporary command of larger military units or even ships if qualified personnel are scarce. Regardless of roll however, he still holds true to his fundamental conviction to make a difference for the better of the galaxy.
