Intent: A cargo container
Development Thread: N/A
Manufacturer: Reardon Metalworks, a subsidiary of Silk Holdings
Model: Savant-class Cargo Container
Affiliation: For internal use, and open market
Modularity: Can be mated to basic repulsorlift and tether modules
Production: Mass-produced
Material: Durasteel latticed frame, desh walls
Description: The Savant-class single-seal cargo container is compatible with nearly any cargo, nearly any moving and loading equipment, and nearly any cargo ship. Its main strengths are twofold. First, unlike some of the other cargo containers on the market, it stacks easily and well, reducing wasted space to an absolute minimum. Second, its broad compatibility allows it to be easily attached, via clamps or electromagnets, to flat exterior surfaces of a certain size and strength, on Silk-made vessels such as the Tempus Ardet, Connestoga, Tikulini, Reclaimer, Pathfinder, and Laekia classes. Likewise, the Savan-class can be stacked easily, as inside the immense cargo holds of a Connestoga. Addition of energy tethers or physical tethers, as well as basic modular repulsorlifts, allows the cargo containers to be towed in a line behind, for example, Orzo-class tugs from Koensayr. It can be pressurized, but has no airlock.

When compared to break-freight (freight manually loaded, broken down, and stacked in the hold) the container carries less overall cargo. However, the container makes loading and offloading faster than break freight (ie. maybe 24 hours total to unload then reload the ship as compared to the multiple days break freight requires), making transporting faster and easier as well as making multiple trips much more frequent.

It measures 50m x 30m x 25m, for a total of 37500 m3.

Go ahead and include the weakness is that when compared to break-freight (freight manually loaded, broken down, stacked in the hold, the reversed to offload) the container carries less overall cargo but that the container makes loading and off loading faster than break freight (ie. Maybe 24 hours total to unload then reload the ship as compares to the multiple days break freight requires) making transporting faster and easier as well as making multiple trips much more frequent.
