Strengths
- | Unseen Threat | Rumblers excel where conventional APC's fail by being able to move stealthily underground whilst carrying troops to the front lines. While being able to burrow deep underground, there are few threats to the Rumbler as it approaches its destination.
- | Support Vehicle | The Rumbler makes for a somewhat useful support vehicle once it emerges from the ground, either as an anti-infantry vehicle or fire support to assist the infantry it deploys. Its ability to plant strategic explosives deep underground also makes it valuable as a means of disrupting attacks or defensive formations, creating massive sinkholes beneath the enemy.
- | Slow | Rumblers, while effective in bypassing enemy shields, move slowly while underground. There are also telltale rumblings of the ground as they are moving that can give their positions away even if they are deep underground, though on a busy battlefield this will likely go unnoticed.
DESCRIPTION
The Subterranean Class 'Rumbler' Class Armored Personnel Carrier was designed as a simple solution to bypass heavily shielded locations such as cities or military installations. The Rumbler is capable of tunneling underground with a small platoon of troops, bypassing particle-energy shields, and then deploying the troops from within the boundaries of the shields, making it an excellent option for sending infiltration forces behind defensive barriers; it also serves as an excellent infiltration personnel carrier overall. The Rumbler can also be used to effectively evacuate troops off the surface of a battlefield to the safety of the underground.
Once the Rumbler has burrowed to its destination the Rumbler can deploy four rapid-fire laser cannons on its hull to provide light fire support. Rumblers can be retrofit and refitted to deploy strategic explosives instead of carrying troops. These can result in a squadron of Rumblers creating an elaborate underground network of hidden explosives that can be remote detonated and level the battlefield whilst taking enemy ground forces by surprise.
The Rumbler has been updated from its predecessor, being able to accommodate a larger troop size, heavier armor, and weapons, as well as the addition of shielding as well as individual field disruptors. It overall has become a tankier and more lethal version than its predecessor, still serving its excellent and tactical function. Additions of Carbonite dispensers allow for tunnels carved by the Rumbler to be stable, reinforcing them with carbonite to keep the weight of the surface up; this allows for safe passage for infantry to travel through with very slim chances of a cave in.
