The first Barabian Systems product intended for an exclusive customer, the SCOBA-8 was designed for sleek efficiency and subterfuge, with some aces up the sleeve to try and protect a user at the last moment. Although the first design blueprint was intended for Sovereign Marines, the philosophy changed when the request from The Sovereignty switched from armour for Naval troopers to instead ones who needed a more subtle approach.
With the founding of the Office of Naval Intelligence and covert Sovereignty strike teams being created and mobilized rapidly, funding began pouring in to Barabian Systems to make sure this project was completed and up to scratch. With more money coming in, Barabian Systems couldn't refuse the new timetable, and the SCOBA-8 series was finally rolled out.

SPECIAL FEATURES
- Personal Cloaking Device - The SCOBA-8 Series is designed with an internal cloaking device that can be easily operated by the user; it is designed more as an emergency failsafe for the Armour than the main focus - the cloak does not last long and is not perfect, having the issue of oscillation that most others also deal with.
- Rubber Glove: Thanks to the various advanced systems within the armour, it was designed to defend primarily against EMP or Ion attacks, and does this well.
- Solid Plates: The SCOBA-8's last vanguard for its users are its high defense against Blaster Fire; the armour is able to tank more than a couple of shots, which can save an operator's life.
- Saber Jockeys: With the intention behind the SCOBA to avoid a fight, next to no lightsaber resistance was included, putting it far behind the average armour in protection against that kind of attack.
- Run from my gun: With the focus on blaster protection in the design of this armour, there is very little in the way of protection against Slugthrowers or Kinetic force.
- Shimmer: The Personal Cloaking Device on this armour is far from perfect, and in particular has the issue of oscillation as many other cloaks do.
