- Locust Swarm: Deployed in squadrons of up to twenty-four individual fighters, the Scorpio is a capable swarm fighter designed to overwhelm enemy ships through sheer number rather than brute force or superior piloting.
- Practically Zero Defense: The Scorpio lacks the conventional shielding or reinforced hull of its Human-driven contemporaries.
While the Sith Empire prided itself on its elite cadre of fighter aces that spurred the increased development and production of sentient guided starfighters, there had always existed plans for starfighters solely piloted by artificial intelligence; such as the ones found in your average droid. The Dark Lord himself had tinkered with the idea of melding cybernetics and the power of the mind to create his vicious Shadow Droids, but nothing like a solely automated starfighter had been designed by the Empire before.
Until the Empire managed to coerce disenfranchised Xi Charrian engineers into their service, adding their technological prowess to their already talented Corps of Engineers.
The culmination was the Scorpio-class Sith-Imperial Droid Starfighter. State of the art cyber-intelligence encased in a protective cocoon of armor hidden within the cockpit, rapid-fire laser weaponry, and the ability to coordinate simultaneously on a moment's notice.
While lacking the firepower and shielding of the Empire's standard Sith-Imperial fighter, the Scorpio was programmed for swarm tactics and victory through overwhelming numbers. Typically flying in squadrons of twenty-four individual ships, the Scorpio could blot out the light of stars like the locusts of ancient mythology.
Leaving nothing in their wake.
