Mother Control System/Device: http://starwarsrp.net/topic/42571-mother-control-system-mcs/
Manufacturer: InVal Cybernetics
Model: Scorpion Tail
Affiliation: InVal/Iziz
Modularity: None
Production: Unique
Material: Durasteel, Titanium, Phrik, Kevlar, Carbon Fiber Spinal Cover, Electrical Components
Description: The build for this particular Cybernetic attachment, while tricky, will bring a new view on how cybernetics could be used. In tandem with. MCD, the Scorpion Tail is just like any other cybernetic limb, except, this one is attached to your rear and has the added bonus of extending and retracting. The titanium, Durasteel frame will give the limb strength and durability, while The Phrik exterior plating gives the tail itself resistance to energy weapons in case the wearer gets into a cituation that requires them to protect against FU's or blaster fire.

The extension and retraction will be aided by small hydraulic tubes. Each individual "link" in the tail extends independently via the hydraulics, at a 2/3's increase. They can be controlled, with training. The Kevlar is to protect the vital electronic parts and hydraulics from the elements and damage, likely caused by the wearer bashing his opponents to smithereens. The hydraulic fluid should last the lifetime of the tail, but should it malfunction, it an be brought back for cleaning and replacement of fluids.

There is, for fun, a bonus concealed hatch at the tip, where I added a lightsaber, provided by Iziz. It is spring loaded, so when the hatch opens, the lightsaber extends out and activates. The tail is connected to the spine of the wearer, so if the spinal column is separated, the tail is useless. It has the ability to articulate almost completely across the front of its wearer, and overhead to just past the face. There is a spare power pack in the base of the tail, so if power is lost from the MCD, it can still function at 65% capacity this battery should last two days of non stressful use, or half a day of stressful use. Once the Power to the MCD is re-established, it would take 5 minutes to reboot to the main power source.

Featuring articulating pincers, the tail could be used to grasp objects, individuals or ledges, in dire cases. Controlled by the MCD and subsequently the wearers mind, it's only as accurate as the user. When the lightsaber is activated, the pincers go into a stasis mode and lock open until deactivation. Much training will be needed to fully use the tail, otherwise, it's fairly difficult to wield. The added weight of the cyber tail on the wearer is compensated by lightening the skeleton with the titanium and using Kevlar. Also, while not in use, the tail acts like a counter balance to the wearer by resting in a position close to the wearers center of gravity or by being used as a tripod. To counter balance the weight of the tail, Iziz's spine was encased in Carbon Fiber to strengthen it. As well, the tail uses the weight of the wearer as a counter balance and visa versa. When the wearer uses the limb to lift objects, they would be more successful when leaning/bending at the hips and legs, like they would normally when lifting something/one. Being that Iziz is a FU, he can use his abilities to aid the lifting.

There is also a fail safe, remote Kill Code if the attachment malfunctions or is damaged beyond repair. Both the Wearer and Nyos will have access to this code in case of emergency. Once applied, the wearer must return to InVal for repairs or replacement. As long as they are within range of any holonet connection, the code can be activated.

It should be mentioned, as the tail is connected to the nerves of Iziz, that it cannot feel pain. Although, it can 'detect' pain. In the same way a droid knows it's been damaged, the tail can send a signal to the MCD that relays the info to the brain. Now, it cannot tell specifications of said damage without proper inspection from myself or Iziz of true damage. As for how it's damaged, it can sustain the normal crushing/snapping/bending like any other prosthetic, but the Titanium, durasteel, and Phrik have a strong tensil strength and would require a larger than humanly possible amount of force to damage the vertebrae. In the case of over articulation, the tail can be immobilized that way, just like if the vertebrae were crushed. A damaged vertebrae, in the appropriate spot could take the whole tail out, like at the base.

Lightsaber Length: Shoto

Interesting stuff! We have a couple of things to work though in order to get this one approved, though. :)
  • First off, I'll need you to add the weight of this tail, because with all the components and materials used, you're currently looking at a pretty heavy piece of tech, considering its length
  • What is this MCD you refer to in your description?
  • What would an EMP or Ion blast do to the electronics in the tail? Would it be capable of operating at all, or are we only talking reduced functionality?

  • How long is this lightsaber? If it's a subbed lightsaber, please add a link. If not, I'll need you to expand on it a bit
  • If the hatch is opened and the lightsaber is "extended", how do the pincers work?
  • How does the wearer of the tail maintain balance while grasping objects up to 136.2kg?
  • Even without of having grasped something, how does the wearer maintain equilibrium when the tail is fully extended?

Since this is a unique piece of tech crafted specifically for Iziz Vei, I have to point out a few very problematic points;

Iziz Vei said:
HEIGHT: 2'10
WEIGHT: 25kg
  • The tail is nearly half the weight of the wearer
  • At full extension, the tail is more than three times longer/higher than the wearer

Nyos Val said:

  • This only works to a certain point, and most definitely not when the person doing the lifting is three times lighter than the maximum weightload
  • I will have to ask you to reduce said load, or provide me with a reasonable explanation as to why the person wouldn't topple over

  • Could you clarify exactly what you meant here? The spine of the wearer? Something else?

Considering the tail is connected to the brain via the MCD, would the wearer feel any sort of pain if/when the tail suffers damage?

Also, given the structure of the tail — links/vertebrae — how does it fare against blunt damage and over-articulation?
To be more specific, can the tail be "broken" if a joint between two links is bent beyond its capability?

As far as I can tell, you've made no changes to the description that would answer the questions I had posed in my previous post.
In the future, tag me only after you've made the necessary edits.

The questions still stand; tag me when you edit. :)

[member="Netherworld"] i had edited, but before i pressed submit, my fat thumbs pressed back and erased eveything i wrote. So i got mad and didn't reply until now.

But now it's fixed.

Alright, you've answered all I wanted to know, and the dev is there. :)

I'm stamping this, but please, please don't abuse it. It will be pulled immediately if that happens.
