SPECIAL FEATURES

Designed to use the Viper-NIC darts, which offered two different types of delivery of the potent Needler IC poison against one’s enemies, the Scorpius can be worn on either hand and by most any humanoid species. Despite its short-range, the silent weapon was capable of rendering one’s victim into a quasi-paralytic and unconscious state, severing their connection to the Force at the same time, making it an ideal choice for clandestine operatives, bounty hunters, and virtually anyone needing a way to stop an enemy, even a Force User, in minutes’ time and yet keep their prey alive for…later.
The Scorpius offered a secondary weapon as well, being capable of delivering a powerful stun charge to an enemy at point-blank range, e.g. combined with a punch. Potent enough to stun a grown adult humanoid (most species) into unconsciousness or near-unconsciousness, at least immobilizing them and causing them to become disoriented enough to weaken their defense and land a second, more devastating attack.
Limited to just six darts and four stun charges, the Scorpius was meant to be used sparingly as reload times were much longer than other launchers and stun gloves sold on the market, making them a poor choice for battlefield conditions. Where its benefits are seen are in the delivery of powerful non-lethal attacks from point-blank to average range (about 30m) bundled together with the sleek design, light weight, and ability to become proficient with it with only very little practice. Up close, a dart could penetrate most medium-class armor, while at a distance, it could still be effective against unarmored targets, and its vapor delivery ability helped to compensate for heavier armored opponents with open faces or whose respiratory filters weren’t shielded against noxious or toxic gas. Lastly, it should be noted, while Needler IC and the stun charges delivered by the Scorpius are powerful, they offer little good against species with thick hides such as rancors and terentateks, certain types of Sithspawn, and against other species whose anatomy and physiology are designed to overcome such things.
