Sable crouched low on the rooftop, her breath steady and measured as she surveyed the sprawling cityscape of Naboo below her. The night was quiet, save for the occasional hum of a speeder passing by or the distant murmur of a crowd. The soft glow of the city's lights illuminated the elegant architecture, the graceful curves of buildings and winding streets. From her vantage point, everything seemed serene—almost idyllic. But beneath the calm, Sable's mind was already moving, calculating, assessing.
Her mission was simple: an assassination campaign, precise, quick, and lethal. She was to plant explosives in key locations, ensuring maximum impact with minimal collateral. But the challenge was finding the right places to strike—places that would hit hard, places that would be both strategic and symbolic.
Her sharp eyes scanned the scene below, noting the places of interest. The Naboo royal palace—large, ornate, and filled with high-ranking officials—was an obvious target. But the palace had too much security, and her primary target wasn't there. She needed to think smaller, more surgical, and focused on what could cause the greatest impact without drawing attention too quickly.
The first location that caught her eye was a row of communication towers just outside the city center. If she placed explosives on them, they would take out critical communication lines, sowing confusion and disarray among the local defense forces. The towers were vulnerable, unguarded at night, and they were crucial to the city's infrastructure.
Next, her gaze drifted to the marketplace near the southern edge of the city. It was busy during the day, but at night it was a maze of narrow alleys and quiet side streets. It would be easy to slip in unnoticed. The market wasn't a military target, but destroying it would send a message. And besides, the explosives would be hidden in crates, making it nearly impossible to detect until it was too late.
Her mind shifted quickly to a more personal target—the senator's estate. Located on the outskirts of the city, the mansion was home to one of the most influential figures in the Naboo government. Taking it out would strike at the heart of Naboo's power structure, disrupting their political system and causing chaos in the upper echelons of society. The estate was guarded, but not in a way that would stop her; she had the skills to breach it. The challenge was placing the explosives in such a way that it would cause maximum damage to the structure and its residents without alerting anyone beforehand.
The royal gardens were another option. Lush, expansive, and scattered with fountains and statues, the gardens were a symbol of Naboo's wealth and power. Destroying them would be a powerful statement—a blow to the city's pride. The tricky part would be getting close enough to plant the explosives without being detected.
Sable shifted her weight, her mind calculating the risk factors for each location. She would need to plan her route carefully, ensuring she didn't leave any traces of her presence. The rooftops were her playground, and she was well-versed in moving unseen. Her acrobatics would allow her to scale walls and slip through windows, planting explosives in places no one would expect.
She felt the familiar weight of her equipment—a small bag filled with explosives, a few remote detonators, and several small charges—pressing against her side. Every tool was perfectly organized, ready for use. Now, it was just a matter of timing and precision.
With one last scan of the rooftops, she began mapping her route mentally. She would start at the communication towers, disable the security around the market, move toward the senator's estate, and finish with the royal gardens. It would be swift, a flash of chaos in an otherwise peaceful city.
But as Sable crouched lower, making her final mental adjustments, she couldn't shake the sense that there was something more to this mission. Something lurking beneath the surface. Still, she didn't have the luxury to second-guess herself now.
Naboo was a city waiting to burn. And she was the one who would light the match.
But all good things only came with time.
