OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION:
  • Intent: To create a mask to obscure Micolash Paarl's identity
  • Development Thread: If needed
  • Image Source: A Scanner Darkly
PRODUCT INFORMATION:
  • Manufacturer: Micolash Paarl
  • Model: Scramble Mask
  • Production: Unique
  • Modularity: N/A
  • Material: Holomask, Electronics, EMP Resistant Materials
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:
  • Classification: Multipurpose
  • Weight: 0.7kg
  • Quality: 1
  • Special Features:
Copper Faraday Cage: A mesh of conductive materials, that protects the mask's systems from electromagnetic radiation (e.g. EMP).
  • Power-Pack: A small power-pack, that supplies energy to the mask's systems.
  • Holomask: A device that projected a hologram to change the appearance of the user's face.
  • Voice Enhancer: A device that alters a persons voice, to either make them sound like someone else, or disguise their voice.

STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES:
Strengths:
  • [+] Concealment Properties: The mask is adept at obscuring Micolash Paarl's identity, rendering him unrecognizable.
Weaknesses:
  • [-] Mediocre Defensive Rating: The mask was not designed for battle, and would not stop a blaster bolt, or slug.
DESCRIPTION: Designed by Micolash Paarl to protect his identity, the Scramble Mask consisted of a holomask system, that drew from a database consisting of facial images of various members of the human, and human-like species, including men, women, and children. The mask's system randomly generated a composite face from the various different eye colors, hair colors and styles, shapes and types of nose, formation of teeth, and configuration of facial bone structure, stored in its database and cycled through these practically-infinite combinations every half a second.

Hi [member="Micolash Paarl"]! I will be reviewing this submission.

Scramble Membrane: A superthin, shroudlike membrane, which projects physionomic fraction-representations of various people.
  • You'll either need to submit this technology through the factory separately or use an already existing one if you provide a source for that particular tech.

Edits have been made to clarify that the images are projected onto the membrane, not by it. It's effectively a canvas.

I've also added a small holo-projector under special features to give some context as to what's actually doing the projecting.

The problem is that the tech for the mask (more specifically the ability to create and project every conceivable facial feature in the known galaxy) doesn't exist, in this form, to my knowledge. Do you have a canon or SWRP canon source for a device that will perform this? If not, this would need to be submitted.

It's just images being projected onto a canvas. I can make another edit to help clarify that more, but that tech would certainly exist in the star wars universe.

It's not stated to create facial features. And I've made an edit to further clarify that it's just drawing from a large database.

Ultimately, It's just mixing-and-matching parts from a large database of human, and human-like faces, and projecting that image onto the mask.

  • There are no canon references that I can find to support this. There are shape-shifting species, there are processes such as the one Obi-Wan underwent to look like Rako Hardeen, and there are Force Illusions. Those are the closest three things that accomplish what you're trying to do with this tech. Unless you provide me with solid canon evidence supporting otherwise, I can't pass this without development and drastic changes to the concept of how this functions.
  • Furthermore, this is bordering on plagiarism. You've taken (nearly word for word) an excerpt from a universe outside of Star Wars and copied it into a submission, with 90% of the wording lifted, and its' use replicated.
Without canon sources I am going to have to deny this. If the wording and function isn't changed so that it is not a lift from the scramble suit I will have to deny this.

It's basically a holomask. That's what I was going for.

Just scrap the sub.

Then all you need to do is link that instead of the scramble suit, change the mask name, state that it uses a datachip with a predetermined list of eye/hair colors, hair lengths, and facial features with the ability to import more via the holonet based on public files or something to that extent. That would be fine, it wouldn't need development, and it wouldn't be plagiarism.

I'm not trying to deny your submission, I just couldn't pass it the way it was worded. If you want to take my advice above I will stamp this for you after. If not, I will archive it. Just let me know.
