FORCE SENSITIVE: Shard are naturally attuned to the force by their very nature.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

STRENGTHS:

Electro-magnetic manipulation: Given the Shard's natural ability to communicate with one another through electromagnetic's, they are adept at controlling specially crafted droid bodies. This ability, when trained and focused upon can be used to Listen through Microphones, To see through Camera's, and otherwise interact in a wireless fashion with nearby Electronics.

Magneto-Hydraulic limbs and joints: Taking combat to the next level, the SD-01 prototype combat droid was outfitted with mechanisms that would allow its processors to interpret battlefield data and respond with as little delay in between as possible. Given this expensive process, the SD-01 Prototype was able to serve as an adequate sparring partner for trained force users.

WEAKNESSES:

Morality: Harbinger prefers to think and contemplate outcomes before he acts upon anything in any fashion that will bring about change to the lives of Organics. Although, When forced into combat or situations that are mentally taxing, his Morality is over-ridden by the droid brain inside his chasis. The programming of SD-01, which is usually supressed by Harbinger at great personal cost mentally, comes through and he reverts to being a blood thirsty machine who searches out violent opprotunities.

Power Systems: Harbinger has a notoriously weak power system. The droid did a fine job installing the sabre as a power source, but even the power cell of a lightsabre can only do so much when it comes to keeping him functional in a prolonged encounter. Akin to having a weak heart, if Harbinger over exerts himself, he will be forced to revert to backup power, and fight at half his combat potential, forcing a retreating action.

APPEARANCE:

Standing at 2 meters in height, the droid was rather strange to behold. It followed no design principles of the trends of the past few years, rather, it seemed to be a wholly unique fabrication. The sub frame of the droid was covered in what could only be described as armor. Modular pieces of shaped and seemingly forged salvage to create plates that would stop small arms fire and deflect incoming bladed attacks away from the critical components of the machine. Obscured beneath these plates was the droids chasis, the true marvel of the design that had taken place with this particular model. Being designed from the ground up to focus on physical combat, the droid stood tall and slender, with a focus on mobility rather than sheer imposing mass. Being no larger than the average Wookiee, it rarely stood more than a head above its counterparts and companions. Remnants of paint could be seen on some of the armor pieces, clearly showing them to be salvaged from what was at hand during the time of the repair or fabrication. Always a work in progress, the Droid itself had been making these repairs and modifications over time, taking information from its battles and further improving its own defenses based on past encounters. To further obscure what was truly going on beneath the steel, the droid had wrapped itself in many places with rough spun cloth, seemingly the remnants of battle standards and banners of fallen foes. Keeping its inner workings shielded from the environment with a cloak around its shoulders, and a loose wrap around its hips to keep the light off of its gunmetal and scratched surfaces. Digi-trade legs supported the droid and allowed it greater field of movement compared to natural bi-pedal creatures and other models of combat droid. Its feet almost resembled docking clamps with thick metal base plates that allowed a strong magnetic grip on applicable surfaces when needed.

The droid lay on the ground, a hole blasted clear through its chest plate, arcing and sparking as the droids life giving power cells began to deplete at a drastic pace. With only the power it had on reserve it did what was needed and crawled with only its arms, dragging its heavy frame across the rocky and dust covered cave floor towards its target. A nameless Jedi that had been fool enough to risk it all and for her trouble, had been hunted down by the latest in a long line of Interceptor Droids. Tasked with hunting the most elusive and deadly targets across the breadth of the galaxy.

Power. Power was needed to return to base and report its mission successful. Scans indicated an object in the deceased mortal's possession that would allow for the repairs that needed to be made. After prying the damaged sabre from the mans hands, the droid wasted no time in removing its heavily damaged chest plate and the destroyed power cell that gave its primary source of power. The work then began. The damaged sabre would never again be used as a weapon, its focusing lenses and emitter being utterly destroyed in the struggle between the cold machine and the fiery young force user. But its power cell, that was enough to see the job through.
It took little effort to adjust the wiring and dismantle the sabre until it looked nothing like its former self, now wired into the droids chest cavity to provide power enough to keep the backup power cell from depleting entirely. Wires running through the sabre hilt like vines, criss crossing its hilt to hold it in place as the once fine weapon was used as nothing more than a crude battery for another weapon. With... Unexpected results.

The droid stopped moving entirely. Sitting on the cold stone floor, starring ahead at the blank wall before it with its cold red flickering eyes. Who knows how long it sat there, unable to process the world around it despite having power. Nothing seemed amiss, but deep inside the droid, where the sabre had been installed and butchered into its wiring, there was an awakening. The crystal used in the sabre's creation had been that of a Shard from the planet Orax. Chosen by the young Jedi, now just bones in the corner with tattered rags to show his former allegiances. Jedi, and his Sabre, had been a team, a pair of minds joined by the force that had been a force for the light and did good where they were able. But now the Shard found himself looking through eyes it did not know how to move, Sitting in a body it did not know how to utilize, trapped in a cave it did not remember entering.

Many days dragged on, and the Shard slowly learned that his new metal prison, was in fact quite capable. Learning to see, to hear, to actively manipulate the droids very core elements to achieve motion. First, such simple things as raising the arms, making the fingers move, turning the head this way and that.

Weeks passed, if not entire months before the Shard, took his first steps, which only added further dents and scratches to the metal frame it found itself attempting to pilot. Though in time, first steps were taken, and the droid walked out of the cave onto the surface of the strange world it found itself upon. Looking up into the sky, at the rising sun before it, the Shard stayed a moment and simply enjoyed what it meant to see such natural wonder for the first time.

Now off world and wandering, the Shard is searching for meaning, and purpose in its life, unsure as to why it even exists in the state that it does. Though generally calm and collected in its demeanor, it is prone to violence when situations become emotionally overwhelming for the fledgling sentient. Having spent so many years of its long life as a weapon, it finds it hard to steer away from conflict when innocents and the oppressed are involved. All while it does battle internally with a droid and its programming to return home and be given its next bloody mission.

Very existential in his backstory, and I'm curious as to whether you plan on playing him as a hero or villain (or both)? I forgot this species existed, and I've never seen anyone attempt to roleplay one in all my EU years... That said, your writing style is well done, and I enjoyed this Shard's backstory and how he can be interpreted as having both great good and great evil potential, from a purely ethical standpoint. Excellent work on this. I wholeheartedly approve. <3

Thank you very much! I've been around the block with Harbinger for a long time. His capability to be both a Hero and a Villain is all in his choice of name. Being force sensitive and a shard gives him a unique ability as a force user. So i'm curious to see how things will play out. I take the story a page at a time, and everything that happens is Cannon to Harbinger. So he could end up a shining beacon for hope, or a brutal hunter hell bent on Raging against the rising of the Light.

Deep down, His Shard self is always in a constant battle with the Droids programming and memories. So he's really two characters. Harbinger, Who tries to do whats right and take the sides who support what he believes, and SD-01, Who loves nothing more than violence and bloodshed in the name of War itself

[member="AutomationEvolution"] Fascinating to know that the droid itself is sentient, rather then merely being an empty husk holding the Shard... That would certainly form a terrifying synthesis were the Shard to go evil, in the long run, but the struggle of morality makes for a fascinating triumph for a good variant of the Shard to have in reining in the droid's darker tendencies. I just read your RP post, and, had I the the proper time, I'd join in, but I need to head off to work, for now.. That'll have to wait until this afternoon, unfortunately. Be safe, and have a great day, yourself! It was nice to officially meet you!

The duality of Harbinger is his key struggle, even in a moment of trying to do the greatest of good, the droid can poison his mind and lead him astray. Even going so far as to hijack control from an emotionally overwhelmed Shard. This makes the Dark side quite the powerful ally for the Droid, and the Light Side a moral question for Harbinger. It all boils down to to who's in charge and what they're all about. I hope to see how it plays out! I welcome you and more to join, seeing as it will be the board who ultimately crafts the story for this character.
