- Handheld Artillery: Firepower and range are the two prominent focuses of the SD-L1 rifle, achieved by an integrated marksman barrel and an exceptionally powerful precision chamber. Additionally the power/gas intake have been tweaked to almost their maximum capacity, making this Longblaster almost comparable to vehicle and starfighter-grade laser cannons more so than a typical blaster rifle. The addition of an ion charger made it even more marketable as a sort of anti-vehicle rifle as well as a simple Longblaster.
- Limited Power: Due to the blaster essentially working at its peak performance and capacity in order to output as much damage and range as possible, it does require constant maintenance to function without overloading. Additionally it generates an exceptional amount of heat and stress when firing and as such it can only reasonably be shot in a single-shot manner despite its semi-automatic capability. Shooting more than once every few seconds increases not only risk of internal components melting but also the gun itself potentially exploding.
While the main market for Sanguine Defense Works wasn't necessarily intended to be full on battlefields and wars, the need to compete with other arms companies as well as properly equip the forces of the Order of Wonosa led to developments of more advanced and deadly weaponry. Initially their first Longblaster designs were meant to simply be a modified version of the SD-R1 however this was deemed unsatisfactory due not only to marketing concerns but also an issue with the firepower that the engineers simply couldn't work around without introducing an entirely new internal system.
Given that they'd essentially need to make a new weapon anyway to achieve the desired firepower, the SD-L1 quickly grew into a project in its own right as the research and development teams began to test just how far they could push the potential of their proposed blaster designs. The result was an incredibly powerful and long-ranged rifle that, in spite of having a notable overheating issue, was deemed a great success and dubbed the peak of their handheld blaster weaponry.
