Prophet of Bogan
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
The origins of the SD-S1 actually begin with the development of its "sister" weapon the SD-L1, diverging from it as a separate project once it was decided that a new rifle needed to be developed rather than just the modification of the existing SD-R1. Slugthrowers weren't necessarily new to the engineers of Sanguine Defense Works as they were commonly among the weapons salvaged from the Order of Wonosa's foes in the Outer Rim but they were rarely used as simply scrapping them into spare parts and making use of blaster weaponry was a cheaper and more optimal solution.
When developments for a sniper rifle diverged however the notion of slugthrowers would be entertained as while one group of engineers wished to push the boundaries of blaster weaponry, another decided to focus on a more general purpose sort of rifle. The SD-S1 Projectile Rifle would be made a reality when some of the scrapped slugthrowers contained basic magnetic accelerators, allowing them to actually have firepower and range that could compete with blaster weapons, which inspired the engineers to craft this weapon. Recoil due to the nature of the weapon itself was a consequence that had to be accounted for but overall the Projectile Rifle proved to be a great feat of engineering and would pave the way for future slugthrowers and projectile weaponry as SDW development teams familiarized themselves with accelerator technology and methodology.

- Outer Rim Engineering: The SD-S1 may be based off of what is commonly considered "primitive" weaponry but it is most certainly a reliable and effective piece of equipment. This is mainly due to its magnetic accelerator, allowing it to deliver respectable damage across a much longer range than most other slugthrower rifles that one might find on a backwater planet. Additionally the muzzle flash suppressor and advanced scope allow it to operate as a sniper rifle without any modification necessary, which is its intended role overall yet it can fit into the standard rifle role just fine as well.
- Kicks Like A Mule: As a result of the high power nature of the weapon and the physical projectiles, the SD-S1 has a rather noticeably high recoil. This is compensated for by the stock, gyro gimbal, and bipod but it is still difficult to fire the weapon while on the run and as such it is recommended primarily to be used in defensive actions or as a sniper rifle as for the most part it simply difficult to control when firing rapidly without being supported on something solid.
