- Sea Gro has the unique ability to be a near fool proof fertilizer. While not the most powerful fertilizer on the market, it is balanced. Applying Sea Gro can be done by nearly anyone, as it is not a toxic product. The result being a more environmentally friendly and organic fertilizer to be used in various outdoor and greenhouse applications.
- Costs are low due to being by-products from aquatic operations across the company. Essentially, the items being used would be tossed away if not turned into Sea Gro.
- The product is also environmentally friendly. When applied correctly, it is an excellent organic fertilizer that provides long term nutrients to plants and the soil.
- Overapplication will result in clumps that can form a white mold. This mold can become a breeding ground for fungal problems that could kill the plant(s).
- Overapplication can result in fertilizer run off. Run-off can create issues with bodies of water, causing an overabundance of algae and nitrates. This will result in unpotable water, fish kill, and general destruction of the ecosystem.
- Has a 'dead fish/rotting fish' smell that can be off putting to some. Less noticeable once the product has been exposed to the environment for several days.
Sea Gro came to be after realizing the sheer amount of waste produced in the Aina Holdings agricultural ventures, especially in the realms of seaweed and fish farming operations. Kelp, shellfish carapaces,various marine shells(oyster,mollusk,etc),fish bones, blood meal and more all make up the components of Sea Gro.
Sea Gro is made by compiling these by-products in varied, proprietary amounts. These trade-secret amounts are then crushed into a meal, squeezed dry of liquid, and then sent into a kiln. From the kiln, the now drier meal moves to a rotary kiln where the constant movement creates small round pellets of product.
This product can then be used in residential, commercial, and agricultural operations. Due to the nature of Sea Gro, it is ‘non-burning’, which in layman's terms means it won’t affect the roots of plants in a negative manner.
