Sealing the Deal

Commenor - 849 ABY
Outskirts Cantina
4.5 Months after Korriban
4.5 Months after Omega

The Cantina Band in the corner started up their second tune of the evening. A few people milled around, a few dodgy deals going down in select booths. The bartender cleaned another glass, filling it with a select beverage known as Correlian Ale, sliding it across to a young male, one with long,unkept hair and a rather unkept beard, your typical smuggler getup. For a cantina on the outskirts of Chasin City, it wasn't bad. There was worse, Mos Eisley Cantina coming to mind, but it wasn't a grade A cantina.

Dodgy deals still took place.

Kei Garnik recieved his glass from the bartender, taking a slow drink. He was tired of maps, Commenor was massive, Chasin City was massive. Co-ordinating an entire front line of guards across the city was proving difficult, [member="Lady Kay"] had totally given him the hardest job. In fairness he'd been kitted out alright though, the temporary office he'd been granted was perfect for what he needed it for, and he had the president contact her two friends, [member="Ryn'Dhal"] and [member="Veiere Arenais"] and he personally had contacted [member="Noriko Ike"]. All in all that was quite a good front line, he assumed at least. He'd never met two of them, but he had to trust them.

The president did, so he could.

He had a week to prepare, and it was stressing him out. He sipped his drink again, and wished for the stress to end.

Shepherd, just arriving on planet knew the best place to look for some dodgy deals was to look towards the Cantina. John got of his XS-03 freighter and made his way towards the "Grade A" Cantina that he had heard about from his previous smuggling dealings. Sitting down at the bar he ordered a Corellian Ale and sipped on it as he glanced around the room seeing a man rub his temple and drink a gulp of his ale. John paid the bartender for the drink and walked over to the man taking the stool next to him looking away for a second and around to see if this man in particular had people keeping an eye out for him before turning his glance towards the man.

"I'm going to say stress, is just the beginning of your problems?"

John addressed the man at the bar looking at him with his good eye taking a large gulp of his ale fixing his coat.

[member="Kei Garnik"]

Kei shook his head, almost jumping. He wasn't expecting the man to appear out of no-where, he expected to just be alone and have a chance to think, have a chance to decide his next adventure once he was finished on Commenor, unless Lady Kay needed him some more. He always had [member="Sor-Jan Xantha"] to think about, the kid would make an alright teacher. That's what Kei really needed, a teacher, a mentor. He'd been researching into the Knight Trials for a Jedi, they were hard to say the least, you couldn't expect anyone to pass them without trying. That's all he needed, was to try.

"Life's a problem, this stupid karking parade is a problem"

He sipped his ale again, sighing.

"You ever have that feeling that every time you settle down something else happens to get you involved again?"

[member="John Shepherd"]

The tall man let out a humorous laugh looking at the man. The man looked like a lot had gone on in his life and that he never had a chance to settle down, at least for a little while. He took a seat next to the man keeping a hand near his blaster on the other side facing away from the man. Looking at his clothes and his structure he had a weird feeling to him, not anything bad but that whatever was going to happen was gonna be exciting.

"Well by the looks of you it seems like you have a lot on your plate and perhaps need someone to help you out with that?"

Shepherd eased off moving his hands away from the blaster and grabbing his drinking taking a large gulp and finishing it all giving a slight smirk to the gentleman seated beside him.

"Because if that's the case, I have the time and the knowledge to get what you need done."

[member="Kei Garnik"]

Kei smiled slowly, it wasn't rare a smuggler offered to help anyone, but a smuggler was just what he needed to fill the gap. He gave himself a quick mental high five, turning to face the man carefully. He'd be discreet enough in what he was offering, learn to trust the man when he had plenty of other people in a big meeting. Smugglers were dodgy, but hey, they got the job done. Kei grinned again, he was proud of himself for filling the gap that'd been causing him such a problem.

"If you're any good at guarding people, then I can use you. 0900 hours, tomorrow morning at this address"

He scribbled the address down quickly, sliding it over. Maybe today would go well after all.

[member="John Shepherd"]

The tall smuggler looked at the man raising his eyebrow a little surprised on his offer as he slowly grabbed the slip of paper and slid it into his pocket not wanting to look at it in the open and in a place where any "discrete" information could be overseen and sold without batting a eye. He knew these kinds of people all too well around the bar and knew that the man was smart for not mentioning any more details the he absolutely had too. He glanced around making sure no one was watching them. Clearing his throat a little.

"Hah, body guarding? My specialty, I was expecting a... different job to come off a man like you but a jobs a job and I have no problem with that but we have to talk business now. No details just how much credits I will be reciving for this job, and how long it is suggested to be. No other information is needed for me to accept it I just need to know that, I don't need the person, the item, or the person paying just those will suffice until the time you have arranged. Just for a safety reasons, you know? Also, for how long I'm gonna be out."

Glancing at [member="Kei Garnik"] awaiting a... interesting answer to this. Still thinking about how weird the man in front of him was to need a bodyguard, and in the back of his mind... who?

He smiled. He expected talk of credits, he was working with a smuggler after all, credits were a smugglers best friend, well credits, work and ale but same difference. Honestly, he wasn't sure how much he'd be able to pay, how much Lady Kay would let him pay, so he'd take a rough guess and go and rob someone if Lady Kay wouldn't let him borrow it. She had access to a presidential fund, surely she could play nice, hopefully she could play nice. She better be able to play nice.

"50 thousand credits for three days work, shouldn't really be any danger either. You just have to socialise, act normal"

[member="John Shepherd"]

His eyes popped a little but he regained his composer fast and looked at the man again, a weird job and a lot of credits for a peculiar job. Sounds like a normal day. He nodded a little looking towards his drink as he took another big gulp of it and glancing back at the man he was talking to. Setting the drink back down he placed his arm on the bar and leaned back into it a little.

""Shouldn't be any real danger." I believe that as much as I believe droids can have children, besides making them. But I don't mind a little, danger. Ah, and socializing let's not forget that, I'd like to say I'm a real ladies man... but I'm not but I can socialize with the best of em' so that won't be a problem. Three days of work is do-able I have to be off planet in a week for some deliveries so hopefully I don't have to pull overtime and I account you to that. But, before I forget I have some... conditions."

At the last sentence the smuggler sat up in his seat getting a little more formal when it comes to his conditions. He was very serious when it came to him accepting any job that the rules he laid down would be followed or dire consequences would fall upon the person who breaks them.

[member="Kei Garnik"]

Kei watched him slowly. Conditions, always conditions, smugglers always had conditions to make life more interesting. He sat up in his seat, sipping his ale slowly before crossing his arms. He was interested to say the least, his conditions would probably be extra pay for overtime or whatever, but it was simply a three day event to guard the president, though he didn't mention that bit, he didn't want to know so he wouldn't know, simple as. He gulped his ale this time, nodding towards the smuggler. He cracked his knuckles against his arm, shrugging.

"What conditions?"

[member="John Shepherd"]

Rolling his shoulders forwards rotating them a bit cracking them. This part always got the smuggler, his persona and his attitude towards life and everything where genuine and he didn't act but this part always was the most serious he got, unless he was dealing in dark businesses. Running through his list in his head fast and hoping that this job would still remain intact after his very, precise rules. Some where understandable but some where very, personal rules.

"First things first, no backstabbing or their will be death from all parties, you stay loyal to me I do the same. This one doesn't really apply, but no slaves at all, or you will not see them or me for a long time. Lastly and most importantly..."

Finishing this word as the man glanced around, not looking for people watching them but looking for people that if they heard what he had to say, might harm him and his soon to be employer. Seeing that no one had any markings that would signify them he looked back at the man seated in front of him lowering his voice to husked tone.

"No Hutts, whatsoever or I'm out, I don't deal with the Hutts or their cartels, not now, not ever. This rule is important to me so let's hope you don't deal with those kinds of people."

[member="Kei Garnik"]

He shook his head lightly. He didn't deal with slaves, the Hutts or backstabbers, he was much the same. However, The Cartel were the guys they were defending against, which left Kei in a situation. The smuggler might just leave if he knew that, so he had a choice, yet he always preferred to be truthful. He looked up at the man, gulping his ale again, finally finishing it off. He felt out with the force, trying to feel the mans emotions and feelings, though even without the force he could tell the man was rather calm, though if he would be after this was a different story.

"Yeah, no slaves. The Hutt's however...If I told you the person you're defending was being defended from the Hutt's, how'd you react? I've always been open so yeah, that's a thing"

[member="John Shepherd"]

The tall man perked his ears when he heard the "But" and raised his brow slightly again and listened to the rest of the statement and his eyes narrowed slightly as he thought of his past with the Hutts and what they could possibly want with whoever this person need guarding for. But this didn't matter, this person need help from the Hutts and he knew that this was a done deal from that line, he didn't need any more information or knowledge from there, he could care less about what he got he just wanted to do this job to the best of his abilities and rob the Hutts of their prize.

"Say no more, I'm in.... I don't work for the Hutts, but I'm more then happy to show their slimy little faces up and that their no good ways can get destroyed by a good man and a blaster. I don't care how dangerous this might be now, count me in. I'm looking forward to this one."
