All that remains
There was one day every year when Konrad would return to his home planet which he had been doing for the last 20 or so years. She may be dead but he was still devoted to her nonetheless. In fact, her death was the catalyst for his departure from the arms of the Jedis and into the embrace of the Sith. With a boquet of white lilies – her favourite flowers in his hands, he stared at the name on the grave longingly. Had things been different, he would have probably became a Jedi Master by now and with a beautiful wife and children who were just as beautiful. Deep in thought about the life he could have – no, should have had, Konrad did not notice the approach of a man from whom he had inherited his appearance.
“Are you proud of yourself?” a familiar voice asked the Sith Knight, breaking his train of thought. As he turned around, he looked into a pair of green eyes that mirrored his own.
“Father,” he whispered.
“Is this the path she would have wanted you to embark on? What would she think and how would she feel if she was able to see you today?” Lord von Grimmelshausen asked his son. Without waiting for an answer, he continued. “Look at yourself and carefully reflect on your actions. It is not the Jedis or even the Republic you blame but yourself. You blame yourself for you inability to protect her but that was too painful for you to bear so you pushed in onto the Jedis who was the reason you were not with her at the time. Furthermore, you have done nothing but taint her memory since you claim all you have done since was for her.”
Once again, Konrad did not have much of a chance to speak as he watched the people who would have been his mother and father in law make their way towards him. “Thank you for loving our daughter so dearly but it’s time to move on and let go of the past. We don’t blame you – in fact we’ve never had and hate seeing you like this. Please, if you can’t do it for your own sake, do it as a favour to us and our dear deceased daughter who you love so much. Let this be the last year you visit her and let yourself love again so that you can find the happiness you deserve.” The man said before taking Konrad’s hand in his own and shaking it after which the his wife gave the former Jedi Knight a hug and the three of them, Lord von Grimmelshausen and the mother and father of his decreased fiancée left.
A few minutes passed by the time Konrad was able to process what had just transpired and he was alone again. With tears that he did not allow to fall onto his face, he lovingly caressed the tomb stone, then kissed it gently and laid the bouquet of white lilies then left.
He had gone too far onto his currently path to suddenly change the road he was travelling on but he knew he had to reassess his life and requested to temporarily work behind the curtains for the One Sith army which was promptly granted when he explained the situation to the Military Executor. He did not want to lose the positions he had worked so hard for until he had made his final decision.
