Seek, and Thee Shall Find

The entrance to sanctuary is inside you.

The planet Sanctuary, was to a many great deal just that; a sanctuary to seek peace and prosperity. Long before, many centuries ago, it had remained hidden from the gaze of a wrathful Empire following the Clone Wars, a planet that had become asylum to those who sought to flee the Imperial grasp and aided those who sought to fight against it, though they themselves never wished to fight. Centuries later, it has grown and become prosperous, having advanced its exports of agricultural and textile crops as well as its technology. Sanctuary had become a planet of peace and prosperity to those who sought it out, in a galaxy filled with turmoil and conflict.

An elderly Jedi would tread along the sandy beaches of Sanctuary, having cast off his shoes to prevent sand from getting in them as his footsteps and a dot made by his cane were left behind in the sand. Men, women and children lined the shores as they helped in pulling in nets that some fishermen had dragged back to shore, having caught a great many deal of sea creatures. The air was filled with the gentle salt water breeze and the sound of gentle waves as they cascaded and moved along the shore, the shrieking laughter of children and the gossip amongst the women along with the chants of men.
Solidor smiled as he watched the entire scene, taking in the peaceful sight as he nodded. It was places like Sanctuary where he often traveled to in order to seek a place of meditation or solitude, especially when there was so much conflict in the galaxy. The shroud of the dark side loomed on the horizon of his mind and it troubled him a great deal that no matter how much he wished to partake in the battle against the darkness, he knew it would only lead to grief and sorrow. He could never push himself to endanger those who had worked hard for peace and prosperity. Jedi were keepers of peace, not soldiers of war.

Silent as a shadow.

Next to a man fishing on the shore, Rosaline of the House Rousseau busied her hands with the net. Her hair was wild, messy, like most of the people here. She was barefoot, white drawstring shirt and pants rolled up to her knees. To a passerby, she looked just the same as any of these people. But she only had eyes for one man. [member="Solidor Slane"]. Out of the corner of her eye, she watched him.

She did not know why she was watching him. Someone had contacted her, and told her simply that they wanted to know everything the old man did while on this planet. Well, it wasn't really her place to know why her clients wanted to know what they wanted to know, as long as she got paid at the end of the day. And she was getting a large paycheck for this one.

She'd never followed a Jedi before, and this time was making her nervous. They had a sinister reputation on Talravin. But as he moved down the shore, she shadowed him, moving from group of people to group of people. Her blue eyes followed his every move, taking in every detail. But something within her was strange. Something within her was telling her that everything was going to change, for her. Rosaline of the House Rousseau did not like that feeling, or that strange sense that made this man shine like a beacon among these others. But she kept doing her job.

The elderly Jedi would have his boots tucked under one arm and his cane held in the other, watching as children ran across in front of him and around him. They squealed and laughed as they tugged at his clothes that were not typical to usual Jedi robes. His warm smile seemed to reach out to those around him and invigorate them with enthusiasm and joy. He would make his way over to a small hut by the side of the beach, setting his shoes down as he entered and pressed his hands together, offering a deep bow to the leader of the sub-island.

The other elderly man would return the bow as he returned a warm smile, " Master Jedi, it is an honor to make your acquaintance. How may I be of service to you today? " Solidor would return to his regular position as he spoke in reply, " Please, just call me Solidor. My Order and I will be taking residence on Mon Calamari soon, and I wished to speak on their behalf to come to you as friends. A gesture of goodwill from us to you. " The two individuals would begin to talk and walk along the beach together, exchanging stories and laughs.

Solidor sensed something. Amidst the joy and cheerful atmosphere, there was an individual whose emotions were different from everyone else's. He had sensed it for some time now, since his arrival. A presence that neither exuded that of the light or dark, but of one that had yet to unlock their potential as well as their connection to the force. Perhaps time would tell whether the presence he felt would come to him, or he would have to confront them.

Just what in the name of the Seven Sisters was this old fool doing? Rosaline had been following him for a long time, now, moving from place to place, and he was just . . . walking. Walking, and smiling, and talking. She was beginning to hate that smile, and that stupid cane, and that stupid aura of friendliness.

The spy crept behind the two old men, her eyes trained on her target. The feeling was back, guiding her to this man. What the hell was wrong with her? He was just some old man, too frail to walk on his own. She'd spied on countless people in ten years, why was he different? Why was she drawn to him? Why did he exude whirlwinds of what she could only describe as. . . light? Pure light. This felt so strange, so unnatural.

She was tempted to go to him, to ask him her questions, to beg his wisdom, but she restrained herself. She was Rosaline of the House Rousseau of Talravin. She would not debase herself as such. Instead, she hid behind a tree, her heart pounding. She needed to gather herself, to calm her beating and confused heart and soul.

Solidor would walk with the island chief as they made idle conversation, skirting around the topic of diplomacy. Not speaking as a member of the Jedi Order that he came from, Solidor respected the inhabitants of Sanctuary wishing to remain a free and neutral planet, but that didn't mean they couldn't be on friendly terms with the predominantly island people. His hand on his cane as they walked through the sand an ocean breeze would cause his shell spider silk woven clothes to gently flicker.

The two would eventually make their way to a cliff overlooking the shore below with people working diligently to bring in the latest haul of freshly caught fish. Solidor would have one hand behind his back while he kept a straight posture as he stared out to the distant ocean, the horizon dotted with far off islands. The peculiar presence still remained, the sense of confusion greater than it was before. He would turn to the island chief before offering a respectful bow of his head, speaking quietly, " Chieftan, if I may have a moment to enjoy this beautiful sight? " The Chieftan would nod as he offered a grin before walking off.

Solidor would breathe in deeply as he turned back out to stare out at the ocean, closing his eyes. Once the other man had left the area he would speak up in a rather firm yet gentle tone, " You can come out from the shadows now my dear... " He would open his eyes as he turned around to look to the trees that Rosaline had hidden herself behind, one hand still resting on his cane as he spoke once more in a comforting voice, " I have sensed you following us for quite some time. May I ask what you seek? "

Feth. He knew she was there. How did he know? She cursed to herself. Damn Jedi. He must have used one of his Jedi sorceries to find her. With a sigh, she stepped out of the trees, and approached him. Her blue eyes examined him, looking for something to say. Was there something to say? She had questions, so many.

Finally, her voice sounded, quiet, in her natural posh Talravani accent.

"I'm confused. I-I don't understand why I'm drawn to you. Is this some kind of Jedi sorcery you're casting on me, old man?"

Her hands curled into a fist, but she did nothing. She needed answers. She needed to know why she was so conflicted, so confused.

The elderly Jedi would turn to fully face Rosaline, lifting his cane up as he tucked it underneath his arm and began to walk towards her. He would pause a few feet away from her as he untucked his cane and set it down in front of him, resting his hands on top of it. He would take a few moments to observe her in silence, feeling the inner conflicting emotions that filled the young woman like a tumultuous sea. Upon hearing her statement he would smile and shake his head before speaking in a voice that had tones of gentle warmth and comfort.

"There is no tricks or sorcery young one." He would let one hand slide off his cane as he gestured to the cliff that he was standing at earlier, overlooking the sea. "Come, I sense there is much you have to ask. I will be happy to put your mind at ease." Solidor turned his back to her, a sign of trust to be presenting one's blind spot to a spy as he walked towards the cliff to overlook the sea. Another gentle ocean breeze would cause his coat to flutter.

There was an air of serenity and peace as the only sound that was heard were the breeze and crashing waves. He would simply stare out as a few moments passed before he spoke once more, "I sense you have a hidden potential inside of you. The Force brought us together. There is much you do not understand, much that you do not know, but first what is your name young one?"

Rosaline of the House Rousseau listened, her eyes still wide. She was staring at the man's back. He was older, he had seen much. And evidently, he was not stupid. He knew what it meant to turn one's back on a woman like her. It was a sign of trust. In her rather vulnerable state, it plucked at her heart strings.

She stepped forward, standing next to him. She stared out over the oceans of the world. It was peaceful out here. She hadn't taken the time to notice before, so focused on the Jedi was she. But she decided she liked it here.

"I am Rosaline. Rosaline of the House Rousseau, of Talravin. You're [member="Solidor Slane"]. What do you mean, I have hidden potential? What are you talking about, old man?"

Solidor remained silent as the woman accompanied him by the edge of the cliff as she spoke and introduced herself. After she had finished her statement he would turn to her, offering another smile as he spoke, nodding as he began to speak once more, " Rosaline. What a fitting name for one such as yourself. You know me, yet I have never seen you prior. " He would stare at the woman for a few moments further before turning back to the ocean, a gentle breeze blowing through his hair.

His hand would rest comfortably on his cane as the sounds of gulls squawking in the air were all that was heard alongside the ocean waves crashing against the rocks below. It was as if he were intentionally remaining silent to gauge how the woman would react to not having her questions answered. Assuming she did not speak he would begin as he went off on a tangent, " Tell me Lady Rousseau of Talravin. You've come to me knowing who I am, and I assume you are either here to either capture or slay me. Yet as you've spoken before, you do not know why you are drawn to me. Why do you believe that is? "

He was posing questions to the young woman, a subtle attempt to share her perspective and see things from where she was and where she saw herself being. It was a simple way for him to gauge her knowledge of the Force, because he indeed felt that she was capable of utilizing the Force. Hopefully for good and not evil purposes, but it would be a matter of his guidance being able to change her stance.
