- Foldable Fin — The ventral fin of the Selachii-class Dreadnaught has been designed to fold-in and out from the ventral hangar. The ventral fin serves as a hangar door. To launch torpedoes or deploy support craft the Selachii-class Dreadnaught needs to extend its ventral fin. Inversely, when the ship wants to land planet-side it needs to retract it's ventral fin.
- Centripetal Compass — The Selachii-class Dreadnaught has been equipped with hardware that performs important shipboard functions, including: 1.) coordinating the multiple boosters to allow the helmsman to fly the dreadnought as if it was a significantly smaller ship, and 2.) manipulate the surrounding gravity to lessen the strain on the structural integrity of the ship to allow for it’s an impressive movements.
- Interdiction Pulse Sphere — This ship has been equipped with an interdiction pulse sphere which can convert a dedicated engine into powerful interdiction field generator. It takes the ship twelve seconds to power-up the interdiction pulse sphere, after which it will create a powerful interdiction field that's twice the length of the Selachii-class Dreadnaught (2720 meter radius) for approximately two minutes. After being used, it'll take the interdiction pulse sphere about twenty minutes before it can be used again.
- General Features
- Slave-Rigged — The Selachii-class Dreadnaught has been equipped with an extensive slave circuit system which has significantly reduced the amount of labor required to operate this large vessel.
- Medical Ops — The Selachii-class Dreadnaught has been equipped with a medical bay that is well-stocked and prepared to provide comprehensive service to those onboard.
- Misleading Signature — The Selachii-class Dreadnaught appears significantly smaller on sensors. This is achieved through a combination of false energy signature projectors, thrust trace dampeners, and most importantly, the centripetal compass, to manipulate the heat and gravitational signature of the ship. This allows the Selachii-class Dreadnaught to launch surprise attacks on opponents who expected to be fighting a much smaller ship. However, this cannot be used to disappear from sensors (i.e. stealth).
- IFF Confuser — This ship has received a short-ranged IFF confuser which can broadcast a signal that can scramble some ships' Identify Friend or Foe systems which could prevent the ships in the area from being able to identify friend from foe.
- Interdiction Pulse Sphere
- Slow Down — The interdiction pulse sphere causes physical matter that's been caught in its interdiction field to slow down. Unless vessels within range have been equipped with a countermeasure, they could see a slow down in their mobility (Speed: Average to Low, Maneuverability: Average to Low).
- Gravity Well — The interdiction pulse sphere generates an interdiction field which can pull unprepared vessels out of or prevent vessels from escaping into hyperspace.
- Armaments
- Heavy Guns — The Selachii-class Dreadnaught has been equipped with sixteen sextuple barbette heavy mass-driver cannons to afflict devastation on the opposition. These weapon emplacements are long-ranged and heavy-hitting, presenting an imminent threat to any battle space they’re brought to.
- Missile Strikes — The Selachii-class Dreadnaught has received two types of missiles to carry to a battle.
- Heavy Proton Torpedoes — While the sextuple barbette heavy mass-driver cannons frequently receive the most attention, the Selachii-class Dreadnaught has also been equipped with a row of heavy proton torpedo launchers which were designed to cause devastation on opposing capital ships. However, these munitions are nearly as slow as they are devastating, requiring the Selachii-class Dreadnaught to move uncomfortably close to the opponent if they want a chance to strike.
- Interdiction Missiles — This ship has received a complement of interdiction missiles which were designed to decrease the mobility of targets upon impact by creating a temporary interdiction field.
- Point Defense — Spread across the surface of the Selachii-class Dreadnaught are multiple sets of quad laser cannon turrets and antimissile octets to provide the vessel with an impressive amount of protective coverage against starfighter harassment and long-ranged missile strikes. With a couple of notable exceptions (covered under weaknesses), the Selachii-class Dreadnaught is well equipped to handle harassment from smaller craft.
- Defense
- Electronic Countermeasures — This ship has come equipped with an electronic countermeasure suite which provides this ship with routine options to counter-act attempts to undermine this ship's standard and advanced systems.
- Erebus Jamming Array — The Selachii-class Dreadnaught has received an erebus jamming array, which has been equipped at the forefront of the vessel. This device can jam the targeting systems of opposing ships to decrease the accuracy of their long-ranged armaments, forcing the enemy to move in closer to land more hits against the Selachii-class Dreadnaught. Once the Selachii-class Dreadnaught has entered the firing range of the short-range turbolasers, the erebus jamming array ceases to work.
- Missile Deactivation Transmitter — This ship was equipped with a medium-range missile deactivation transmitter which provides it the ability to misdirect some incoming missiles within a ten-kilometer radius around the ship.
- Moderate Armor — Encased in duranium with damage reduction armor components in sensitive locations, the Selachii-class Dreadnaught can withstand a couple of direct hits.
- Radiation Resistance — The interior sections of the Selachii-class Dreadnaught have been lined with agrinium which provides the crew an additional layer of protection from the dangerous effects of radiation that can be encountered when a ship loses its shields.
- Interdiction Warning — The Selachii-class Dreadnaught has been equipped with a gravity well early detection system which allows this vessel to detect an approaching gravity well in hyperspace when traveling along well-established hyperlanes. This technology provides the ship with the options. The Selachii-class Dreadnaught could a.) exit hyperspace early and search for an alternative route to avoid the interdiction field along another well-established hyperlane, or b.) meet the interdiction field ready for a fight. However, the command staff have only a couple of moments, three minutes at most, to decide.
- Maneuverability
- Atmospheric Travel — This ship has been equipped with atmospheric friction shields, and the centripetal compass which performs the function of a repulsor lift, which allows the Selachii-class Dreadnaught to descend a planet's atmosphere and resist the effects of gravity to remain suspended in the air. This vessel can move around the sky with marked decreased in maneuverability.
- Evasive Maneuvers — The Selachii-class Dreadnaught has an impressive array of propulsion drives and maneuver boosters, which together, allow this capital ship to move with an unprecedented amount of grace. The Selachii-class Dreadnaught can make sudden movements and smooth turns in an unparalleled amount of time, allowing the Selachii-class Dreadnaught to operate in situations that may traditionally be disadvantageous for a ship this size. The Selachii-class Dreadnaught can make movements that might resemble how an average corvette swerves around.
- Microjump — This ship has been equipped with a microjump capacitor which allows the vessel to make a minuscule jump through hyperspace. This technology can be used to travel anywhere from 10,000 km to 1-full parsec. The microjump capacitor can only be used safely once every six hours for a ship of this size.
- Speed
- Very Fast — The Selachii-class Dreadnaught has been equipped with twenty-one propulsion drives which allow this capital ship to accelerate at an incredible speed. Additionally, along with the maneuverability boosters, the ship contains a structure called the centripetal compass which allows the ship to decelerate at an unprecedented rate. The Selachii-class Dreadnaught can accelerate forward at a similar rate as an average corvette.
- Hyperspace Momentum — This ship has been equipped with hyperspace momentum capacitor which allows the Selachii-class Dreadnaught to de-accelerate at a slower rate from hyperspace to realspace, which provides this ship with a temporary speed boost.

- General Features
- Slave Circuit Mainframe — Installed underneath the bridge is a slave circuit mainframe which controls the torpedo launchers that have been installed on the ventral fin. Once this slave circuit mainframe has been damaged or destroyed, the ship will lose the ability to launch its torpedoes (Armaments: Very High to Average).
- Sensor System — Located along the propulsion wings and bridge are different components of the sensor system which respectively consists of two sensor drums and a sensor globe. A couple of loosely-aimed concussive strikes could knock-out the sensor drums. The real challenge will be landing a strike against the sensor globe that's been tucked away under the bridge. However, once all three components of the sensor system have been damaged or destroyed, the Selachii-class Dreadnaught will become a short-sighted predator, only able to attack those ships in its immediate proximity (Armaments: Very High to Very Low).
- Trench
- Hiding Spot — Running along the length of the bridge is a trench which lacks weapon emplacements and sensor coverage, making it a wonderful place for a clever pilot to hide their small craft. The trench can range from 30 meters to 69.5 meters in width.
- Entry Points — Along the trench are multiple unlocked hatches where a person(s) could gain entry into the ship.
- System Substation(s)
- Starboard System Substation — Located on the starboard-side is a substation where a skilled slicer could gain direct access to a couple of systems, including:
- Centripetal Compass — A slicer could temporarily deactivate the centripetal compass (Maneuverability: Extreme to Average). When this ship is in a planet's atmosphere, this would cause the ship to descend and crash somewhere.
- Ventral Fin — A slicer could manually retract or extend the ventral fin.
- Landing Gear — A slicer could manually retract or extend the magnetic landing gear.
- Eavesdropping — A slicer could gain access to the internal communications of the ship.
- Port System Substation — Located on the port-side is a substation where a skilled slicercould gain direct access to a couple of systems, including:
- Artificial Gravity — A slicer could could temporarily take control of the artificial gravity generators onboard the bridge. They could turn off the internal artificial gravity system - which can cause the bridge crew to experience zero gravity while the ship is in space. It could also be turned-off during the power-up phase of the interdiction pulse sphere (see below: Double Down).
- Misleading Signature — A slicer could temporarily deactivate the false energy signature projectors and thrust trace dampeners to reveal the true scale of the Selachii-class Dreadnaught on sensors.
- Eavesdropping — A slicer could gain access to the internal communications of the ship.
- Starboard System Substation — Located on the starboard-side is a substation where a skilled slicer could gain direct access to a couple of systems, including:
- Interdiction Pulse Generator
- Exposed Target — Located toward the rear, above the hyperdrive unit, is a propulsion drive which has been equipped with an interdiction pulse sphere. A turbolaser barrage could damage or destroy this system, taking away this ship's ability to generate a powerful interdiction field.
- Double Down — The powerful interdiction field this system generates significantly decreases the mobility of the equipped vessel (Speed: Extreme to High, Maneuverability: Extreme to High). This also puts a strain against the internal artificial gravity systems, periodically increasing the internal gravity of the ship between 1 - 4%. If for whatever reason, the internal artificial gravity system has been knocked-out or turned-off - the interdiction pulse sphere cannot be used without squishing everyone to death.
- Atmospheric Slowdown — When the Selachii-class Dreadnaught enters a planet’s atmosphere it can lose a significant amount of it’s mobility gained from the centripetal compass once under the strain of a planet’s atmosphere (Speed: Extreme to High, and Maneuverability: Extreme to Average).
- Armaments
- Needle Blind Spot — While the broadsides of the bridge contain rows of quad laser cannons to fend off starfighter harassment, there’s a narrow gap in the Selachii-class Dreadnaught’s firing arc, called the “the needle,” which can be exploited. If a small craft is able to evade the incoming laser fire, they can reach a safe zone that stretches 500-meters away from the forefront of the Selachii-class Dreadnaught. From there the small craft could either a.) land in the trench, or b.) run the length of the unprotected surface of the Selachii-class Dreadnaught, the “bridge belt,” and launch an attack on the exposed armaments. Alternatively, a heavy bomber could directly assault the bridge itself.
- Exposed Armaments — The offensive power of the Selachii-class Dreadnaught is chiefly contained in its sextuple barbette heavy mass-driver cannons, which are mostly located along the surface of the main hull. These exposed armaments could be taken out with a series of well-placed concussive strikes. When these weapon emplacements are damaged or destroyed, the offensive capabilities of the Selachii-class Dreadnaught are significantly reduced (Armament: Very High to Average).
- Defenses
- Electromagnetic Vulnerability — The Selachii-class Dreadnaught can experience electronic disturbances from electromagnetic pulses either from Ion Cannons or natural phenomena. Due to how many systems have been directly connected to a slave circuit system, this ship is especially susceptible to these forms of damage.
- Erebus Jamming Array — Located at the forefront of the bridge, directly underneath the ship's chin is the erebus jamming array which decreases the accuracy of long-ranged barrages. A well-placed concussive strike could knock-out the system and reduce the overall defensive capabilities of the Selachii-class Dreadnaught (Defenses: Average to Low).
- Deflector Grid Substation — Located under the forward superstructure is a deflector grid substation which coordinates the deflector shield system. A well-placed concussive strike could knock-out the deflector shields of the Selachii-class Dreadnaught (Defenses: Average to Low).
- Early Warning Gravity Well Antenna — Situated on both sides of the bridge are the two components of the early warning gravity well antenna which provides the ship the ability to receive early warning when it approaches a gravity well in hyperspace. A couple of concussive strikes could knock out these antennas, and deny this ship access to this advanced system.
- Hangar
- Ventral Hangar — When the ventral fin is extended out, the ventral hangar is completely exposed. With a couple of hits the flight deck could be significantly damaged (Hangar Space: Very Low to None), which could prevent support craft from returning to the Selachii-class Dreadnaught, or in the worst case scenario, result in the destruction of the ship's complement.
- Maneuverability
- Centripetal Compass — Embedded in the hull of the Selachii-class Dreadnaught is a structure which resembles a wheel. This is the centripetal compass, a self-contained system that manipulates the ship's gravity and coordinates the multiple boosters that allow this large vessel to make movements that resemble a ship half it's weight class. A concentrated barrage of turbolaser fire could either damage or destroy this system and significantly reduce its ability to maneuver around (Maneuverability: Extreme to Average). When the Selachii-class Dreadnaught has entered the atmosphere of a planet, the loss of the centripetal compass will cause the ship to begin to descend, eventually crashing into the ground without the gravity manipulation of this system.
- Hyperdrive Unit — Located toward the rear of the Selachii-class Dreadnaught is an inconspicuous structure called the hyperdrive unit which contains multiple ship systems including the hyperdrive system as well as the hyperspace momentum and microjump capacitors. A well-aimed barrage of turbolaser fire could obliterate these systems.
- Speed
- Propulsion Heat Sinks — Located on the backside of each upper wing are a matching pair of propulsion heat sinks which enable the Selachii-class Dreadnaught to attain incredible speeds. The destruction of both would force the ship to shut down some of its engines, causing it to slow down (Speed: Extreme to Average).
- General Features
- Slave Rigged
- Slicing — Because each module uses and extensively relies on the slave circuit system, the entire ship is vulnerable to slicing.
- Naval Boarding — Because so many systems have been automated through the slave circuit system, this ship has become increasingly vulnerable to naval boarding.
- Interdiction Pulse Sphere
- Gravity Well Countermeasure — Similar to it's cousin, the Gravity Well Projector, this system could be countered by the Gravity Well Neutralizer and similar technology that nullifies the effects of an interdiction field. When the powerful interdiction field has been nullified by a gravity well neutralizer, it's Double Down effect will remain on the Selachii-class Dreadnaught as long as the system remains activated.
- Energy Weapons — While the interdiction pulse sphere can cause physical matter to slow down, including missiles and kinetic rounds, it has little to no effect on weaponry that are purely-energy based. while significantly less effective, the powerful interdiction field does have a minimal amount of influence on turbolaser blasts due to the presence of gas as a medium.
- Easily Detected — When the interdiction pulse sphere is begins to power-up, the system emits a powerful signature that can be detected from afar. The energy flowing into the system and the gravity distortions that begin to form will readily be read by most sensor suites. This can also provide a clue about the true scale of the Selachii-class Dreadnaught.
- IFF Confuser — This ship can only use the IFF confuser once it's approached the firing range for short-ranged turbolaser batteries, and well within the range of longer-ranged weapon systems.
- Slave Rigged
- Armaments
- Broadside Firing Arc — Due to how the sextuple barbette heavy mass-driver cannons have been arranged along the dorsal section of the main hull, the Selachii-class Dreadnaught needs to run parallel with its target to release its primary firepower. Inversely, the Selachii-class Dreadnaught has relatively few weapon emplacements toward the rear and front, which make an assault from either of these directions inconvenient for the ship.
- Defenses
- Starfighters — The nemesis of the Selachii-class Dreadnaught has been starfighters, whose speed and maneuverability, can allow them to evade the point defense and allow them to land blows against the ship's hull.
- Missile Deactivation Transmitter — The missile deactivation transmitter can lose its effectiveness under certain environmental conditions. When the Selachii-class Dreadnaught enters a nebula or similar space phenomena, the surrounding radiation and matter can interfere with the transmitter's ability to detect and disable an incoming missile.
- Erebus Jamming Array
- Optimal Jamming Range — The erebus jamming array operates best when the enemy ships are at a far distance. As the enemy draws nearer, the array's effectiveness at misdirecting enemy fire correspondingly decreases.
- Signal Interference — The erebus jamming array becomes ineffective under certain environmental conditions. When the Selachii-class Dreadnaught enters a nebula or similar space phenomena, the surrounding radiation and matter can weaken the array's ability to connect with and mislead enemy targeting systems.
- Gravity Well Early Warning — The Selachii-class Dreadnaught can only use the Gravity Well Early Warning System when traveling along a well-established hyperlane with millennia of astronomical data to pull from (i.e. canon hyperlanes, see link). This technology can only be used when the ship is traveling to systems that are directly situated along a hyperlane pathway.
- Hangar
- Hangar Space — Despite the impressive scale of the Selachii-class Dreadnaught, the ship lacks hangar space for support craft.
- Maneuverability
- Microjump
- Overheating — When the Selachii-class Dreadnaught attempts to go beyond the recommended number of microjumps in a six-hour window, there’s a 50% chance the microjump will fail to happen, and a 100% chance that the system will completely burnout and will need to be replaced.
- Gravity Wells — The Microjump Capacitor does not allow the Selachii-class Dreadnaught to escape an interdiction field being created by a gravity well projector or similar technology. Similarly, Microjump Capacitor does not allow this ship to move through astronomical objects like stars or planets.
- Imprecise — The Microjump Capacitor allows this ship to flash forward toward a general proximity, around a 50 km area. This can cause problems when multiple capital ships use the Microjump Capacitor to move in concert together. There’s a significant chance of collision when an entire fleet uses Microjump Capacitor the move forward.
- Signature — When Microjump Capacitor is activated it leaves an easy-to-detect signature behind the area it just left behind. Due to the short-range nature of the technology, this gives an enemy a feasible range to engage a search
- Microjump
- Speed
- Asynchronous Fleet Movement — Due to its impressive speed the Selachii-class Dreadnaught is not well-suited for working in conjunction with ships in a similar weight class, frequently outpacing it's peers, if not careful. Because of this fact, this ship frequently operates independently from fleets. When pressed to serve as simply another ship-of-the-line, many of the qualities that make the Selachii-class Dreadnaught unique get lost.
- Hyperspace Momentum
- Gravity Wells — When a vessel attempts to exit hyperspace using the hyperspace momentum capacitor, and there's an unexpected gravity well, the vessel will be shattered from the interplay between the attempted de-acceleration and the interdiction field. This problem can be navigated around as long as the Selachii-class Dreadnaught retains its early warning gravity well antenna.
- Lost Momentum — When a vessel begins to maneuver, it will lose the speed boost it initially gained from the hyperspace momentum capacitor. To maintain the speed boost, the vessel needs to travel in a relatively straight trajectory.
There was an increased demand in some sectors for a capital ship that could perform missions independently from the fleet, that could afflict damage on enemy lines, and take-out ships that stray from the protection of a fleet. The Federal Cooperative drew on expertise from Corellia and Hodasal to establish the Selachii Program. Both these worlds contributed important design perspectives which culminated in the creation of the Selachii-class Dreadnaught. The vessel was equipped with experimental technology that would be unique to the class, that would provide the starship with high-levels of maneuverability and speed. Following the conclusion of the Selachii Program, the design team would work to streamline the centripetal compass to be used in future designs.
The first round of production for the Selachii-class Dreadnaught would conclude in 840’s. To dismay of the design team, many of the first generation of ships would one way or another find their way in the hands of pirates and mercenaries in the Outer Rim and Wild Space.
Rating Disclaimer — The Selachii-class Dreadnaught is currently six points over. I've listed eighteen items under significant weakness I considered candidates for creating balance.
