Selecting a new Master of the Order

Sorel Crieff

Ready are you? What know you of ready?

Sorel was a patient woman. She believed it was better to make the right decision slowly than the wrong decision quickly. Not that she could not be swift and decisive when needed — but this was not such a situation.

For a small number of the Silver Jedi Order were going to choose a new Master of the Order. It was a role that supported the Grand Master in decision making. Not a second-in-command, in many ways they were jointly empowered to make decisions. The differentiator was that the Grand Master was ultimately accountable for what happened to the Jedi and any decisions made.

And as was the custom, it fell on an assembled group of Masters to choose the next Master of the Order, given Coci’s decision to step down at the same time as her husband.

So Sorel had invited all Silver Jedi Masters to attend — this was not a Council by any means, merely an assembly of Jedi of a given rank, who would nominate, discuss those put forward and ultimately vote.

So Sorel sat in the room that was originally designed as the Council chambers. The one where Thurion and Coci had informed her of their decision to step down and nominated her as the Grand Master’s successor.

She was significantly less nervous than she was the last time she was in the room. Most probably because she knew why she was here this time.

And she mused that she had no vested interest in the outcome. Whoever was chosen would be the consensus of those gathered, so the decision was not only binding but it would be wise and well-informed.

Orihime had come as one of the new masters, what she lacked in well age and experience at the rank she could more then make up for with her gusto and knowledge. It helped when your mother was one of the big researchers and able to really build things up. "Sorel." Orihime entered the room and stood in the guardian robes as they matched almost with her skin making the hair and contrasted black pools of her eyes.

She hadn't seen her since she became grandmaster and Orihime was well there to support hr. Standing at the ready as she looked to see who of the other assembled masters would be showing up.around here. She was prepared honestly for anything that could come from it. "This is so awesome, you are the grandmaster of the order now and there might be a chance to help you out even more." She was excited and ready standing there.

"I didn't expect to be back here so soon," he voiced his thoughts to his wife walking beside him, clutching his arm. "This one sure doesn't seem to mind, though," he added with a chuckle at the tiny babe swaddled in blankets and napping against his father's chest. Barely a week had passed since his arrival into the world, and with both Thurion and Coci being called to this important meeting it would not do to leave Thirdas in the hands of another. He hoped the other masters would not mind.

The newly ascended Grandmaster [member="Sorel Crieff"] was summoning to her the wisdom of the numerous Jedi Masters of the Order for an important decision. Seeking wisdom shows wisdom in the one seeking it, and when asked to attend the Heavenshields were most agreeable to the idea. Thurion in particular felt it prudent that the former leaders of the Order show their support for the next generation.

Upon stepping through the last set of doors and into the large Assembly conference room, seeing Sorel taking up residence in his old seat only caused a smile upon his lips. There was a great sense of relief seeing someone else shoulder the burden and responsibilities of leadership, for he had grown weary after putting two decades of his life into the position, as had his wife. Their lives were their own now, yet their loyalty to the Order remained unshakable.

"Grandmaster," he greeted the woman with a slight bow, trying not to stir the little one from his slumber in the process. "Forgive us for bringing an unannounced to the discussion," he added with a wink before pressing his lips to Thirdas' pink forehead. "Master Ike," he then greeted Orihime of the Ike clan. Truth be told, there were far too many Ikes to keep track of - let alone how they are related to each other - so he had long ago stopped bothering to figure them out.

Initially it had taken a little adjusting to not being in the forefront of leadership, but now after several months Coci had recieved a new found vigor. The weight on her shoulders had been lifted and removed and in its stead a sense of relief which allowed her the ability to center her focus on other things. Not just the family, but the desire to further the Order in other aspects which she had not the time for. The Order always needed help in strengthening the Jedi within its fold, whether it was training or mission everything required attention of the masters.

The Master of the Order was to be appointed today, Coci only hoped who ever it was would understand the importance of the position and the toll it would take on their not only their time, but their lives. But the masters are strong in the Silver Order, and she had little doubt they would find a suitable person.

Coci rested her a hand on Thurion's arm as he held Thirdas, "No, but think of it this way. We will have a chair in the Assembly with a different view". Not only of the vista of Voss and over life as well. She could not help but grin at her own silly joke.

She was still mending from the birth of their son, even for Jedi how have known the what is it to bring life into the world, it takes time to recover but with the help of Thurion and the force she would be a full strength soon enough. Besides this recovery time allowed her to be with them both. Thirdas so beautiful in his mothers eyes, golden hair just like his fathers and already growing strong both physically .. and within the force.

Coci brought both hands around to settle on her upper thigh before bend to bow before the Grand Master. "Grand Master Crieff", she acknowledge the young lady and in turn to the others in the room. And so Coci lead Thurion and Thirdas to their seats and awaited the start of the proceedings.

Kurayami had been called to a meeting of the Masters within the Silver Order. He had heard the the torch of Grandmaster had been passed on though admittedly he was a bit confused as to what was going on. The message had come from one whom he was not overly familiar with, not that such was strange, he tended to keep to himself for the most part. As he entered the room he offered a small smile to those present along with an informal bow of his head. While he tended to wander for long periods he always seemed to find his way back to Voss for at least a bit.

"Thankfully I am not late as I had feared I might be. I thank you for the heads up about the meeting Grandmaster."

As soon as he had said this he realized that he had completely forgotten the reason behind his trip, while yes he had read the message, he must have been focused on something else until he heard that the Masters were being summoned to Voss. It made him wonder if this was a good, bad, or neutral meeting. Looked like time would tell at this point.

Arisa would arrive a little after Thurion and Coci, dressed up for the occasion in the sleek black service dress of the Kiribian military, long dark locks woven up into a french roll. These days she split her time serving as a member of the Silver Order, and the Watchman of the Kiribian Systems Union and all their holdings across the galaxy.

As she glanced around everyone already present, her brown eyes would be drawn to the tiny form of Thirdas clutched against Thurion's chest. She couldn't help but skip over to him, low heels clicking loudly against the floor, and bend over to gawk over the baby with a big smile.

For a blissful moment, all her problems and concerns melted away as she looked down upon that little pudgy face of pure innocence and potential. This is what she fought for, what she would lay her life down for, the future.

"Already turning out to be a little cutie," she cooed.

"Hello. How have you two been enjoying retirement?" she asked as she straightened and addressed the couple in a more normal tone.

Both Thurion and Coci had more than put in their time in service to the Silver Order, but that didn't stop her from feeling a little envious of their current situation. She had several lovers over the years, but she had always stopped things from getting too serious, lest their connection be used against her. Too many times had she had seen this in practice with dreadful results. Maybe someday there would be time for her to enjoy the same luxuries. Maybe.

A meeting of Masters. Such convocations, especially internal to this Order, were rare. Even if things didn't get done, they shook when such gatherings occurred. Of course, all Masters in the Order were invited - summoned was a more correct term - but not all of them always showed. Given the subject matter though, the Sephi figured most would. Not long before, Thurion Heavenshield had stepped down as Grandmaster of the Order and transferred the reigns of leadership to Sorel Crieff. Coci had resigned from her position as well, which was the assembly's purpose.

They were to determine the next Master of the Order.

For his part, Audren had backed out of a meeting regarding TransGalMeg, his most recent acquisition. It was taking some time to get it off the ground; no irony there at all considering one function was building starships. Fortunately, as sole owner he could reschedule at a whim. It might not be good business practice or even polite but any complaints would be quiet for now.

As he entered the chambers designated for the meeting, the elfin Jedi saw that a few had already arrived. The Grandmaster of course, as well as Thurion and Coci since both were still Masters. Kurayami Bloodborn, who he'd first met a very long time ago on an ill-fated trip aboard a freighter; back then the human hadn't even been a Jedi. A few others who's faces he recognized but weren't bringing names to mind. He had enough going on, knowing the name of each Jedi promoted to Master would be pushing his mental capabilities. It was a modest gathering, hopefully others would show as well. He bowed in the general direction of all present before stepping aside to wait for it to begin.
